MWM Chapter 176

This entry is part 177 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“Mr. Chen, this way, please!”

The helicopter landed on the platform of the Ten Rings’ headquarters, and Razor Fist jumped out first.

Leo nodded and followed Razor Fist into the base. Along the way, he saw many Ten Rings members in special armor, wielding cold weapons and training rigorously. These members were all highly skilled; among ordinary people, they would be considered top-tier fighters.

After navigating through several twists and turns, Leo soon arrived at an office. Wenwu, dressed in a white suit, was already seated there, waiting for him.

“Please have a seat, Mr. Chen.”

“Mr. Xu, your base seems quite impressive,” Leo replied, sitting down across from Xu Wenwu without the slightest hesitation.

Xu Wenwu scrutinized Leo carefully before getting straight to the point: “If you can bring my wife back to life, I will call off the assassination and reward you handsomely. But if you dare deceive me, today, you’ll be thrown to the wolves outside the base.”

“No, no, no, you got it wrong. If I help you resurrect your wife, you’ll give me the Ten Rings and become my subordinate. From then on, you will lead the Ten Rings under my command. Otherwise, I will kill you and your children, send you all to reunite with your wife, and then destroy the Ten Rings!”

Leo shook his head with a smile.

Hearing this, Xu Wenwu’s eyes narrowed, and a powerful killing intent radiated from him. “Kid, do you know the price of messing with Xu Wenwu?”

“It seems you don’t believe me. Let’s go to the training ground and have a little match,” Leo suggested. Without further ado, he took out his wand and Disapparated from the office, reappearing in the training ground where the Ten Rings members were training.

This base would soon belong to him. Fighting Xu Wenwu in the office could cause unnecessary damage to his future property.

Xu Wenwu watched as Leo’s figure vanished instantly from the office, his pupils shrinking slightly. He then took off his jacket, revealing the Ten Rings on his arms, and quickly made his way to the training ground.

He had already suspected that this opponent might be extraordinary, but he hadn’t expected teleportation.

As someone who had lived for over a thousand years, Xu Wenwu had encountered all sorts of extraordinary beings, like mutants and sorcerers. Most of them, however, were not much of a threat under the power of his Ten Rings.

So, while surprised, he wasn’t overly concerned.

“It seems you do have some skills,” Xu Wenwu acknowledged, arriving at the training ground and noticing his elite fighters sprawled out on the ground. His eyes showed a hint of caution as the Ten Rings detached from his arms and began orbiting around him.

Leo, with a flick of his wrist, cast a test Stupefy spell. However, before it could even reach Xu Wenwu, the Ten Rings deflected it away.

“A nice feature, the ability to repel magical attacks,” Leo noted, his eyes lighting up.

Most wizard spells have low energy intensity but are highly versatile with powerful effects upon hitting their target. So, it made sense that the Ten Rings could easily deflect them.

In fact, the stronger the Ten Rings’ abilities, the happier he was. Once he took the Ten Rings and went to the wizarding world, he could use them to deflect most magical attacks without needing to cast protective spells himself, enhancing his own power.

If the Ten Rings couldn’t even withstand a Stupefy, he’d be disappointed.

“Second Form, Eight Gates Release, Fifth Gate—Gate of Limit, Open!”

Since magic wasn’t very effective, he decided to rely on his specialty: close combat.

Leo’s body rapidly expanded to his second form. Under the boost of the Fifth Gate, he shot toward Xu Wenwu like a bolt of lightning.

Xu Wenwu immediately summoned the Ten Rings back to his arms, meeting Leo’s charge head-on without a hint of fear.

“Boom!”

When their fists and feet collided, the impact produced a sound similar to an explosion, and cracks appeared on the training ground’s solid floor.

Leo, skilled in traditional martial arts combined with the taijutsu from the Naruto world, not only possessed formidable strength but also had inner energy that could penetrate deep into an opponent’s body. Xu Wenwu, having fought for a millennium, had honed his combat techniques to an extraordinary level.

The two clashed back and forth on the training ground, evenly matched.

However, it didn’t take long for Leo to notice Xu Wenwu’s weakness. Xu Wenwu’s strength came from the Ten Rings, but since the Ten Rings were an external power source, unlike Leo’s inherent power, Xu Wenwu’s weakness was actually the rings themselves.

The Ten Rings primarily had two modes: one where they were spread out to assist in attacking like magical artifacts, and another where they were worn on his arms.

When the Ten Rings were spread out, Xu Wenwu could use them to supplement his own attacks against Leo, but it was clear his physical attack power dropped significantly during this time.

When the Ten Rings were attached to his arms, Xu Wenwu’s physical strength, enhanced by the rings, could barely contend with Leo, who had opened the Fifth Gate.

In terms of pure ability, Leo was actually stronger than Xu Wenwu. It was Xu Wenwu’s adept switching between the two attack modes of the Ten Rings that kept him from losing to Leo.

“I didn’t expect to encounter such a monster like you in this world, but you can’t defeat me. The power of the Ten Rings is limitless, whereas your strength will eventually deplete,” Xu Wenwu taunted while continuing the fight with Leo.

Leo’s abilities indeed surprised him. It was rare to find someone who could match him using only their own strength.

But he still didn’t believe he would lose, because the power of the Ten Rings was inexhaustible. Even if this fight dragged on for a year, he wouldn’t tire.

Leo merely smiled. After exchanging another punch with Xu Wenwu and using the force to create some distance, he began forming hand signs.

“Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu!”

In an instant, ten shadow clones appeared beside him.

He didn’t have the clones join him in close combat against Xu Wenwu but instead had them form seals and begin launching ninjutsu attacks.

Shadow clones share the chakra of the original, and they are prone to disappearing when hit, making them unsuitable for direct melee combat. If a clone is dispelled, the chakra used to create it is effectively wasted.

Normally, ninjas rarely deploy a large number of shadow clones in battle; they might use one or two to lure an enemy into a trap or deliver a decisive blow, as Kakashi did when fighting Zabuza.

Naruto was a special case—he had an enormous reserve of chakra, and with the Nine-Tails providing an endless supply, wasting chakra wasn’t a concern for him.

In Leo’s view, if one had enough chakra, using shadow clones to cast supplementary ninjutsu attacks was far more effective.

If Naruto had better ninjutsu skills and didn’t need to rely on the Rasengan, he could simply summon a thousand shadow clones and have them all launch Fire Style: Great Fireballs at once. Even Kage-level opponents would struggle to handle that.

A thousand Great Fireballs raining down would have devastating power.
