This entry is part 17 of 211 in the series Fantasy Lord: Start with Daily Intelligence

Chapter 16: Future Territory Development Plan

“Knight Thor Dressrosa, your registration is complete. For the next twenty years, as long as you remain here, the Maine Valley will be your territory. After twenty years, the kingdom will evaluate your land, and if it meets the criteria, you will be granted a title. Of course, you can apply for a title earlier if you meet the conditions!” The blonde girl respectfully handed over a parchment scroll.

As the first step in selecting a pioneer knight’s territory, the process was relatively simple. The parchment served as the official contract.

“Thank you.”

Thor expressed his gratitude and took the scroll.

The Maine Valley was the result of careful selection, based on the daily intelligence reports.

One reason he chose it was that the valley was large enough, bordered by three noble lords and several other pioneer leaders, but the northern area was vast and mostly unoccupied. The river flowing through the Maine Valley had created a massive, flat, crescent-shaped area with fertile soil, perfect for large-scale farming. The only downside was the risk of floods, but for someone like Thor, who came from another world, that wasn’t an unsolvable problem.

However, the real reason he chose the valley was that according to the intelligence reports, not only did the area have Star Moon Fruit, but there was also a goblin-guarded iron mine to the east, rich with resources.

Star Moon Fruit was valuable enough, but the iron mine was something that even a count would covet, let alone Thor.

With all these factors, his decision was easy.

“You’re most welcome, Sir!”

“I look forward to seeing you again!”

The blonde girl replied quickly.

Thor smiled, nodded, and left the city hall with Raine and Steve.

On the way, several knights saluted Thor once more.

Thor returned each greeting with a nod.

They soon arrived back at the camp where the knight squad was stationed.

“Sir!”

“Sir!”

As soon as Thor returned, the knights quickly saluted him.

Thor waved a hand in response and walked into the camp.

The knights began preparing their meal.

While eating his first meal in Loren City, Thor drifted into deep thought.

Now that his registration as a pioneer knight was complete, he was officially recognized by the kingdom. Over the next twenty years, he would enjoy some noble privileges.

If he successfully developed the territory within those twenty years and passed the kingdom’s evaluation, he would become a baron.

This also marked the beginning of his journey as a lord.

How to develop the territory would be something he’d have to consider for a long time.

He had prepared extensively while still at Dressrosa Castle.

However, now that the moment had arrived, he needed to reassess his plans carefully.

Thor also intended to stay in Loren City for another day to see if the daily intelligence system would provide more surprises.

As night fell, Thor’s group arranged for accommodation, paying a few gold coins for the stay.

Given that Thor was part of the Dressrosa family, securing a place to stay was simple, though the conditions couldn’t compare to Dressrosa Castle.

Still, it was far better than camping in the wild.

Time passed, and soon it was midnight.

With a hint of anticipation, Thor activated the daily intelligence system once again.

“Buzz!”

【Daily Intelligence Updated】

【1: One hundred and fifty miles ahead, a group of earth dragons will pass by.】

【6: Tomorrow, a group of unicorns will pass by the Rhine River and stay for three hours before leaving.】

【7: Two days from now, a group of slaves will be sold at Loren City’s slave market. In the third batch, the third girl on the left is a half-elf with rare and powerful mage potential.】

Thor scanned the report quickly, and when his eyes landed on the seventh entry, they lit up with excitement.

His joy wasn’t about the half-elf herself.

For some nobles, an elf or half-elf girl was enough to make their adrenaline surge, but Thor wasn’t like that.

Or rather, what mattered to him was strength and improving his territory. If he cared only about such things, he wouldn’t have chosen to become a pioneer knight.

What thrilled him was that this half-elf had a rare and powerful talent for magic.

In the kingdom—or rather, on this entire continent—knights were the dominant force. However, that didn’t mean they were the only path to power. Witches and mages were also part of the extraordinary world.

Yet mages, especially, were exceedingly rare.

In the kingdom, mages were almost nonexistent.

But every mage was a highly valuable resource to the nobility and the kingdom as a whole.

After all, both magical potions and life elixirs could only be crafted by mages.

Because of this, mages were incredibly precious.

Thor hadn’t expected to find someone with such great mage potential in Loren City.

This discovery truly excited him.

If he could acquire this half-elf girl and win her loyalty, his future prospects would be limitless.

A mage—that was no small matter.

If a mage were to emerge from his territory, the possibilities were beyond imagination.

The mere thought of it sent a wave of excitement through Thor.

“Two days, huh?”

He whispered to himself, then made his decision.

Two days wouldn’t make much of a difference; he could simply delay his journey to the territory for a short while.

There was no need to rush.

With this decision made, Thor settled in to wait in Loren City.

Two days passed quickly.

Thor spent the time experiencing life in Loren City, and truthfully, the city fell far short of Frostmoon Province.

It wasn’t just the demeanor of the freemen, but their living conditions as well.

It was clear that Loren City lacked sufficient resources. After twenty years of development, it seemed the marquis in charge hadn’t paid much attention to the province.

But this was to be expected.

Anyone would lose interest if they were sent to a place like this, even a marquis.
