RWWOKS Chapter 159

This entry is part 160 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

The next day, all the candidates completed their trial in the Forest of Death.

As they gathered, the atmosphere immediately became thick with tension.

If it weren’t for the presence of a few Jonin from the Leaf Village, a fight would have likely broken out right there.

But just because they couldn’t fight physically didn’t mean they couldn’t enjoy a good verbal spat.

“Damn you, Long Xian! Your grandpa’s right here—if you’ve got the guts, shoot me!”

“Stos, your mom’s dead!”

“Screw it! Who ambushed me earlier? If you’ve got the guts, come out now!”

“What the hell are you looking at? Think you’re tough with three eyes?”

“Ered, I’m your daddy!”

Listening to the string of colorful insults, Fang Bo couldn’t help but feel a bit amused.

It was clear that these were passionate people. Even if they couldn’t fight, they had to exchange a few verbal blows.

After all, they weren’t in the same space, and after this war, they might never see each other again. So why bother pretending to be noble or superior?

Just look at the most excited ones—they were practically spitting in each other’s faces. Even if it didn’t do much, at least they felt good getting it off their chests.

Among all the known powerhouses, only Yodel received the least amount of insults. It wasn’t because he was well-liked, but because he truly had this aura of being above it all.

Even with people shouting at him until they were red in the face, he calmly explained things without missing a beat.

People like him—unshakable and unaffected—were the kind that trolls despised the most.

“I’ve gathered a fair amount of intel, so let’s go over it,” Yodel said as he began briefing everyone on the key opponents to watch out for.

The rules for the additional matches were the same as the third exam. It was one-on-one combat to determine the winner.

If you knew you couldn’t win, you could surrender to the space, and a barrier would automatically form after three seconds to prevent any damage.

But if you got killed within those three seconds, well, that was just bad luck.

For those who weren’t as strong, timing their surrender would be crucial.

If they came across an unbeatable opponent, surrendering early was the smart choice.

“Now, for the following people, if you encounter them, it’s best to surrender immediately.”

“Losing the match is better than losing your life.”

With Yodel leading the discussion, everyone got acquainted with the strongest reincarnators from each faction.

The strongest in Iwagakure wasn’t the mastermind behind the “terrain card” incident, but a seemingly ordinary man.

His codename was “Cang Yue,” and he wore the Scales of the Marine Warrior armor, said to be a high-level mythological set.

During the great battle, he fought in both the Leaf and Mist factions, and from what was heard, he gave many people a hard time.

“Scales,” Fang Bo mused.

The Marine Warriors were soldiers under Poseidon in the *Saint Seiya* world, with countless numbers and each said to be equipped with a set of Scales armor.

Though not the rarest, it was still a mythological-grade armor in a lower-difficulty world. Fang Bo wondered how it compared in rank to the Armor of Memory.

Yodel’s assessment was clear: be wary of Cang Yue’s fists, as they were rumored to possess skills that far exceeded the power of a B-rank.

If you encountered him, surrender immediately, or the three-second delay would be more than enough for him to land a fatal blow.

In Kirigakure, the strongest was Ares, a man with a legendary talent.

His abilities came from the *Yu Yu Hakusho* world, allowing him to control his muscles at will—a true powerhouse in terms of strength.

Yodel’s warning was to never let Ares get ahold of you, or you’d experience the full terror of grappling techniques.

Fang Bo had encountered Ares before, during the first exam, when they had briefly made eye contact in the classroom.

His abilities sounded similar to Toguro’s muscle control from *Yu Yu Hakusho*.

“Seems like a tough guy to deal with,” Fang Bo thought.

In Kumogakure, the strongest was Ered, the Dragon Slayer mage Fang Bo had met previously.

He had a dragon crystal implanted in his body, allowing him to use dragon-slaying magic.

Yodel gave him a very high rating, especially cautioning against his dragon-shaped gauntlet.

“That’s probably a high-grade piece of gear,” Fang Bo mused, feeling like he’d seen it before.

As for Konohagakure, which was clearly the strongest faction on paper, Yodel gave his highest rating yet.

“There are three people you must be especially careful with.”

The first was Akagi, the Devil Fruit user Fang Bo had already encountered.

During the Forest of Death, Akagi’s true power was finally revealed.

He possessed the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Ancient Model: Spinosaurus. This fruit gave terrifying boosts to both strength and vitality.

“Isn’t that Page One’s Devil Fruit?” Fang Bo wondered.

Considering the nature of the reincarnation space, it was possible Akagi had acquired the fruit from a higher-difficulty world.

If that were the case, this guy would be a real challenge, not easy to defeat at all.

“There isn’t much intel on the other two—Akagi is the only one who has fought at full strength so far.”

This meant that while there were two other powerhouses in the Leaf faction, their identities remained a mystery.

If anyone encountered them, they’d have to rely on their luck.

In truth, aside from those mentioned, there were bound to be many other powerful reincarnators.

For example, in the Sand faction, Yodel was strong, sure, but wasn’t Black Soul and Fang Bo themselves just as formidable?

No one who participated in the space wars was weak, and those who survived this long were anything but easy to deal with.

Victory or defeat would depend on judgment in the heat of battle. At this stage, no one would willingly hand victory over to someone else.

At that moment, Fang Bo suddenly noticed several gazes falling on him.

Turning his head, he saw a few reincarnators whispering among themselves while staring at him.

Back in the Forest of Death, his lack of speed and long-range attacks had forced him to let quite a few enemies escape.

Over time, word of his strength had spread, and now people were starting to talk about him.

Considering the introductions to these top fighters, Fang Bo suddenly had an idea.

Should he hold back a bit during the battles?

If people surrendered as soon as they saw him, he might miss out on earning a lot of points.

But after thinking about it, he quickly discarded the idea.

Fights between reincarnators were brutal, and there was no way he could afford to show mercy.

If they surrendered, fine—he didn’t care. There would still be plenty of chances to earn points.

“I hope I run into a few of the stronger ones. They’re bound to have bags

full of resources,” Fang Bo thought, his excitement growing.

The weaker reincarnators would usually spend all their plot points before entering the world, just to avoid leaving anything valuable behind for their enemies.

But the strong ones didn’t care. They were confident in their abilities, Fang Bo included. None of them believed they could be killed and have their items looted.

If Fang Bo wanted a big payoff, his best bet was to target those top-tier powerhouses.

As the reincarnators continued discussing amongst themselves, the proctor for the second exam, Gekkou Hayate, finally appeared.

Seeing the sickly-looking examiner, Fang Bo couldn’t help but smile to himself.

He was already thinking about how he could take out this proctor.

Once the rules were announced, the additional matches for the second exam officially began.

The once noisy area fell silent as everyone turned their attention to the large screen, eager to see if their names would appear for the first match.

Fang Bo was feeling a bit nervous himself. He definitely didn’t want to be matched up against one of those opponents he couldn’t possibly defeat.

Like Gaara, or Rock Lee after unlocking the Eight Gates. Even an ordinary Naruto could be trouble.

There weren’t many like that, but if you got unlucky and had to face them, there was almost no chance of winning. It was all about who would end up being the unlucky one.

A few seconds later, the first match-up was announced.

Mist Village, Long Xian.

The moment his name appeared, the crowd erupted into noise, but surprisingly, there weren’t as many curses being thrown around as expected.

Sure, people complained about him, but when it came down to it, how many people were actually confident they could beat an Exterminator?

Not many, that’s for sure.

People were cautious, but Fang Bo was actually hoping to be picked.

From a purely practical point of view, he saw Long Xian as a top-tier target.

After killing so many people, the guy probably had thousands of plot points. If Fang Bo could take him down, he could claim all of it, right?

Clasping his hands together, Fang Bo sincerely prayed for the first time.

However, luck wasn’t on his side this time.

When the second name came up, Fang Bo could hear the collective sigh of relief from the crowd.

Long Xian’s opponent was another reincarnator, seemingly focused on close combat.

Judging by the look on his face, the guy wasn’t planning to surrender right away. He was clearly going in with the intention of killing his opponent.

The fight started quickly, and in front of everyone, Long Xian put on a textbook display of kiting tactics.

For a full forty seconds, his opponent ran around the arena like a mad dog, trying everything but failing to even touch the hem of Long Xian’s clothes.

By the time the guy realized something was wrong, his health was dangerously low.

Finally, he requested to surrender, thinking he’d get out safely. But Long Xian pulled out a special arrow and shot it straight through his heart.

After surviving all those battles in the space war, the guy ended up dying during the three-second countdown. It was pretty ironic, to say the least.

Long Xian bent down to pick up the treasure chest that had dropped, then made a throat-slitting gesture toward the Leaf Village faction. The corpse he had just looted was from their group.

Such a blatant and disrespectful gesture enraged the powerful members of the Leaf Village, but due to the rules, no one could do anything about it at the moment.

After quickly cleaning up the blood, the second personal battle began.

As soon as the names appeared, the crowd erupted into more chatter.

“Man, this guy’s luck is something else.”

“Yeah, his opponent looks like a pushover.”

“And it’s just a character from the story! What a stroke of luck!”

It was almost as if the universe was playing a joke. Once again, the reincarnator chosen was a strong one, someone who had performed quite well in the Forest of Death.

Seeing his name, a lot of people started silently praying, not expecting that the opponent would turn out to be a mere story character.

The moment they saw the bowl-cut hair and the ridiculous green jumpsuit, many of the reincarnators couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

“I think this guy’s just here to be funny.”

The young man they were laughing at was none other than Rock Lee.

But when the match began, the fight unfolded in a way no one could have predicted.

The seemingly laughable youth exploded with terrifying strength far beyond anyone’s expectations.

Even without taking off his weights, Lee’s speed exceeded thirty points, and so did his strength.

With his incredible fundamentals and fierce, swift attacks, Rock Lee relentlessly backed his reincarnator opponent into a corner.

In the end, Lee finished the fight with a Leaf Whirlwind, securing his victory.

Rock Lee didn’t kill his opponent. He simply left him heavily injured, forcing the reincarnator to surrender rather than be beaten to death.

This match made one thing very clear: the Chunin Exam wasn’t just a stage for the reincarnators.

Underestimating the strength of story characters could easily lead to an unexpected defeat.

“Well, now that Rock Lee’s out of the way, the risk of facing a tough opponent is a bit lower,” Fang Bo thought, feeling a bit relieved.

Just as he was secretly celebrating, he saw his own name pop up on the big screen.
