RWWOKS Chapter 187

This entry is part 188 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

Outside the Leaf Village, in an ANBU secret base.

A golden dragon roared past, sinking its fangs into an enemy’s shoulder.

[Your Noble Phantasm inflicted 70 damage to the ANBU.]

Dragon Slash (Active Skill): Consumes 4 Spirit Points to release a dragon soul attack, dealing 140% of the wielder’s Strength attribute as damage.

Based on Fang Bo’s current stats, this strike delivered considerable damage.

Although it couldn’t yet rival the original user’s mastery, Fang Bo couldn’t help but love this piece of equipment.

Taking advantage of the enemy’s limited mobility, he used Positive Pole Lock to bind the ANBU agent wearing a fox mask.

He then summoned Yoriichi Zero Form to deliver the finishing blow.

[You received a Purple Story Chest.]

“Finally got a chest,” Fang Bo muttered, slightly frustrated.

Large-scale narrative worlds had this drawback—the drop rate was abysmal. It took several kills to finally loot a chest.

In comparison, in the Demon Slayer world, he could practically collect chests until his hands were full.

Glancing at his remaining HP, Fang Bo directed two puppets to engage the last enemies.

Health: 246/340 (+150)

During the intense fight, he had been hit by a Fire Release technique. Thanks to his Steel Heart passive, some damage was mitigated and his health partially restored. His current state was still manageable.

The situation for his shikigami, however, was less promising.

Fang Bo had underestimated the ANBU’s firepower. A concentrated barrage had instantly wiped out six or seven of his demon spiders.

Fortunately, Demon Mother Yin Hime had a robust health pool and rapid regeneration. Without her, Fang Bo would have been surrounded and overwhelmed.

“What a pity.” Seeing his dwindling demon spider forces, he knew he still couldn’t compete in high-level battles.

Kage-level opponents were like reapers on the battlefield, cutting through weaker foes with ease.

Thankfully, his careful preparations paid off. If he had relied solely on his own power, even a hundred Fang Bos wouldn’t have made a difference.

To compensate for his lack of top-tier combatants, he turned Kimimaro into a demon king.

To boost firepower, he gave Kakuzu this world’s currency and an epic-grade weapon.

Fearing Orochimaru might not hold up, he provided sacrifices and searched for the Shinigami Mask to bolster his chances.

Concerned about the overwhelming number of Leaf ninjas, he orchestrated a rebellion of demonized civilians.

He even managed to drag unexpected powerhouses like Chiyo and Sasori into the Leaf Destruction Plan.

If all this still couldn’t secure victory, then it must be fate.

Fang Bo was confident no other reincarnator could have assembled such a lineup.

Even if someone else had received Orochimaru’s mission and, by sheer luck, found Yamato to restore more of the First Hokage’s strength, there was no guarantee they could defeat all the Leaf’s top-tier ninjas.

And let’s not forget, the Leaf still had someone who nearly kicked the final boss out of the story—Might Guy.

If Guy went berserk and opened the Eighth Gate, not even the First Hokage’s Wood Golem might hold him back.

As these thoughts raced through his mind, a lightning serpent suddenly engulfed Fang Bo.

[You’ve been hit by an ANBU Lightning Serpent, taking 125 electric damage.]

[Talent “Steel Heart” activated, restoring 46 HP.]

Suppressing the numbness coursing through his body, Fang Bo looked up to find that the enemy had launched this attack just before their death.

No, it wasn’t merely a dying strike—attacking him had been the enemy’s sole purpose, even at the cost of being poisoned by the spider guards.

This kamikaze determination baffled Fang Bo.

“You’re risking your life for what? A few hundred bucks a month?”

With Positive Pole Lock off cooldown, Fang Bo quickly bound the enemy again. As the chains tightened, a flurry of treasures rained down like shooting stars.

[Your Noble Phantasm inflicted 34 damage.]

The accumulating damage numbers were impressive, and the combined firepower of his epic-grade weapons instantly dealt 159 damage, killing the low-stamina ANBU agent on the spot.

As Jorogumo devoured the last enemy, Fang Bo’s battle was effectively over.

Meanwhile, on Kakuzu’s end, the silence for the past two and a half minutes suggested he had already secured the Scroll of Seals.

[You are opening a Purple Story Chest.]

[You gained 100 Story Points.]

[You gained 4 Explosive Tags.]

[You gained the Lightning Serpent Scroll.]

Lightning Serpent: E-rank Active Skill. Consumes 2 Spirit Points to summon an electric serpent.

“Another useless item. Guess I’ll sell it for Story Points.”

While Fang Bo opened his chest, Kakuzu had already completed the mission and left without so much as a farewell.

The mission completion notification confirmed his departure.

“So rude.”

[Hidden Quest: Scroll of Seals (Completed)]

[Calculating results… Generating rewards…]

[Based on your contributions, you may choose two of the following rewards:]

-1,000 Story Points

-ANBU Mask

-3 Attribute Points

-Dark Walk Technique (Rare)

-Flying Thunder God Technique (Legendary)

Faced with these options, Fang Bo’s usual choice would be the attribute points and the most valuable item.

But this time, he hesitated, as two of the rewards were particularly enticing.

ANBU Mask

Grade: Extraordinary

Type: Headgear

Durability: 70/70

Attributes Boosted: Perception +3, Spirit +1

Requirements: Perception 18, Spirit 16

Effect: Scan Block (Passive)—Blocks detection and perception-based abilities from reincarnators.

Item Description: Put on the mask, and no one can see through you.

While the mask would protect him from being spied on, its utility overlapped slightly with his detection tools, leaving Fang Bo somewhat torn.

Dark Walk Technique

Level: 1

Grade: C

Effect: Blinds the target.

Cost: 8 Spirit Points per target

Learning Requirements: Perception 18, Spirit 8

Skill Description: Time it right. Never let your enemies see the light again.

This legendary blinding technique, often nicknamed “Turn Off the Lights,” was immensely powerful. Once successfully cast, it could immediately deprive opponents of their vision.

Fang Bo weighed his options carefully, knowing that each choice would greatly impact his future battles.

Advantages are obvious: non-perceptive enemies hit by the Dark Walk Technique are almost completely defenseless, left in a state of passive vulnerability.

But the drawbacks are glaring too: the skill’s cost is steep, consuming 8 Spirit Points per target. Even with Fang Bo’s attributes, he could only control two or three enemies at a time.

It’s a perfect weapon for duels, but its effectiveness in group battles depends on coordination with teammates.

Another critical flaw is that the “lights-out” effect might be immune to mental-type powerhouses. Additionally, it could be dispelled by special abilities, such as the eye techniques of figures like the Dark Soul Eyemaster or Dairon.

Truthfully, Dark Walk Technique is a god-tier skill for support-oriented reincarnators, but it’s ill-suited for a lone wolf like Fang Bo.

Furthermore, Fang Bo’s skill slots were already maxed out. Even if a slot opened in the future due to a Shikigami summon, he planned to learn a new summoning skill instead.

It seemed unnecessary to choose this skill, yet he couldn’t ignore his ongoing pursuit of genjutsu mastery.

Though his genjutsu had shown little practical effectiveness so far, Fang Bo believed that persistence would one day allow him to wield it successfully in battle.

So, could he self-learn this powerful genjutsu?

These skill scrolls weren’t just trophies; they contained a detailed training guide. With enough time invested, it was always possible to master the skill.

The Reincarnation Space seemed to encourage reincarnators to self-study skills, but most lacked the patience to do so.

More often than not, a reincarnator might die in a storyline world before fully learning a skill.

For most, selling unusable skill scrolls for resources was the dominant strategy.

But with his abundant Story Points, Fang Bo simply laughed and casually selected the Dark Walk Technique.

For now, he didn’t lack resources, so he’d keep the scroll and study it slowly.

No matter how much time it took, mastering the Dark Walk Technique would significantly enhance his personal strength.

Next came the highest reward of the hidden quest.

Name: Flying Thunder God Technique
Level: 1
Grade: B
Effect: Engrave a spatial mark to enable teleportation between marked locations.

Usage Cost: 1 Spirit Point to engrave a mark, 1 Spirit Point for spatial transfer.
Learning Requirements: Perception 25, Spirit 20
Origin: Naruto

Skill Review: The speed of your strikes is determined not by spatial transfer, but by your reflexes.

If one were to rank Naruto’s ninjutsu, the Flying Thunder God Technique would undoubtedly be near the top.

Spatial ninjutsu is powerful, both in the Naruto world and in the Reincarnation Space.

In high-level battles, many elites wield spatial-based finishing moves, often banishing opponents to alternate dimensions.

Without similar abilities, how else could one maintain the upper hand before key characters in the storyline?

Fang Bo also had an idea: engraving Flying Thunder God marks onto his Noble Phantasms. This would allow him to teleport along with his weapons, striking from any position.

“Teleporting with weapons… why does that feel oddly familiar?” he mused.

Like Dark Walk, mastering Flying Thunder God required self-study—a long and arduous process.

Still, having the opportunity to learn was better than none. After all, this was only Fang Bo’s fourth storyline world. He had plenty of time.

He resolved to make good use of the one-month downtime in the Reincarnation Space. Previously, he had been too eager to jump straight into new storylines.

“Earning points is inevitable, and now I’ve got to pick up studying again. What kind of life is this?”

Hiding Jorogumo away, Fang Bo stealthily crept back into the Leaf Village.

He wanted to see the situation firsthand. Even if the mission failed, he needed to know why.

Within the village, the Wood Golem continued its rampage.

Despite his strength, Might Guy couldn’t stop its destruction—unless he opened the final stage of the Eight Gates.

Since the situation hadn’t reached its breaking point, Guy hesitated.

Just as he was about to make his decision, Hiruzen Sarutobi stopped him.

“Guy, now is not the time for you to sacrifice everything.”

“Third Hokage…”

Stopping this promising young man, Hiruzen gazed at Orochimaru, standing tall above the clouds, and softly asked, “Are you confident you can take him down?”

“Uh… probably?”

Though unsure why he said this, Might Guy still followed Hiruzen’s instructions.

In a flash, he leapt into the air, delivering an unmatched straight punch at his target.

Daytime Tiger!!!

A brilliant white tiger lunged forward, biting down on the Wood Golem. The violent tremors knocked several people off the Golem’s shoulders.

Boom!

A thunderous explosion echoed as the Wood Golem’s massive body crashed to the ground.

Orochimaru was sent flying into the distance, smoke and dust obscuring his view.

Wary of Guy’s threat, Orochimaru instinctively tried to summon Hashirama Senju’s reanimated body to his side.

But to his shock, he couldn’t sense the Reanimated Body’s presence at all.
