RWWOKS Chapter 202

This entry is part 203 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

A man walked into the room, his unique crimson hairstyle catching the eye. On the back of his jacket was a moon crest, the emblem of his family.

The moment Gönitz saw him, her previously indifferent expression shifted instantly.

Just as her teammate had said, this man was indeed an old friend of hers.

A soft breeze brushed past, causing the wine glass on the table to ripple, indicating just how unsettled Gönitz’s mind had become.

In 1997, Orochi had completed its initial revival, and the gods returned to this filthy world of reality.

With the thousand-year plan nearly complete, everything was thwarted by this red-haired fighter, who had joined forces with others to stop it.

That’s right, the second teammate Fang Bo had sought was none other than Iori Yagami.

Back then, the Three Sacred Treasures and Orochi had clashed in an earth-shattering battle. To ensure that Kyo Kusanagi’s “Final Battle Secret Art—No Style” would hit its mark, Iori Yagami had used his body to hold Orochi in place.

The destructive move first passed through Iori’s body before landing on Orochi.

It was this very act that had left Iori Yagami with an unprecedented injury, one that still prevented him from fully recovering to his peak strength.

After the Orochi battle, the two protagonists faced grim fates—Kyo Kusanagi was stripped and studied by scientists, and Iori Yagami spent years searching for his lost companion.

For the most part, during the entire NESTS arc, the two had been simply going through the motions.

Now that Fang Bo needed to deal with the NESTS, he couldn’t just stand by and watch as these two Orochi arc protagonists continued to stagnate.

Seeing Iori Yagami settle into his familiar seat, the bartender immediately served drinks and food with great hospitality. Throughout this exchange, there were no unnecessary gestures or chatter.

Just a few days ago, some Geese’s gang thugs had tried to take pictures with Iori, only to have their arms and legs broken and thrown out.

Afterward, the once-dominant Geese’s gang had dared not make a peep. One of their underlings even went to Billy Kane, the “stick king,” to complain, only to be strung up and thoroughly beaten.

This event showed everyone just how terrifying Iori Yagami truly was, a figure that even the ruler of Southtown dared not provoke, let alone the average powerless person.

However, at this moment, Iori sat there, and the people around him carried on talking and laughing, ignoring him completely.

It wasn’t that they weren’t afraid—it was just that they knew Iori’s nature. As long as no one actively provoked him, they were safe.

As Iori himself often said, he wasn’t a fan of using violence.

However, some people and situations required violent methods to resolve, like that annoying bastard who’d been lurking and watching him.

Staring at the man and woman nearby, Iori instinctively felt a sense of disgust.

Some people, just by looking at them, he knew they would never get along with him. Iori trusted his instincts.

Iori Yagami (Heir of the Three Sacred Treasures)
Attack Tendency: Low
Attribute Tendency: Agility, Mental, Strength
Trait: Destructive Flame (Legendary), Orochi’s Blood
Threat Assessment: High Risk

“Eh?” Fang Bo was mildly surprised.

His information scan wasn’t particularly friendly—usually, when someone was scanned, they’d feel anger and be tempted to take action.

Iori Yagami, known for his volatile temper, actually didn’t show a strong desire to attack. This proved that one couldn’t judge a person solely based on rumors.

Of course, it could also be related to his attitude in handling matters.

Normal people, when upset, would likely try to find a way to alleviate the situation, like telling the other person not to continue what they were doing.

But Iori wasn’t like that. He would silently accumulate his frustration until he reached his breaking point, at which time he would take ruthless action.

He had ignored the provocation earlier, but if anyone continued to bother him, he would have no qualms about teaching them a lesson.

That woman, he knew her—a low-level nobody, a waste who would never surpass him or Kyo Kusanagi even if she trained for a hundred more years.

“Just as I thought,” Iori muttered to himself. “Only you are worth my full effort.”

Suddenly, the glass in front of Iori shattered into pieces, spilling wine all over his clothes.

“What is…” His pupils contracted slightly, as if he sensed a familiar force.

Slowly raising his head, Iori locked eyes with the woman across from him, and just then, he saw her expression—a haughty, world-dominating smile.

Memories from the past slowly resurfaced in his mind, and that smile began to merge with the image of someone he had once known.

“It can’t be wrong,” Iori muttered, standing up slowly and walking over to sit beside them, much to the surprise of those around him.

“Who are you?” he asked.

A whirlwind began to gather around Gönitz’s fingertips as she looked down at the young man with arrogant eyes. “If you’ve already guessed, why ask?”

Upon confirming his suspicions, Iori’s gaze turned sharp, and a violet flame began to form in the palm of his hand.

Just as the two were about to clash, Fang Bo stopped them with a single sentence.

“Do you want to know where Kyo Kusanagi is?”

It was as though someone had hit the pause button, and Iori froze in place.

After a few seconds of hesitation, the hand that had been raised slowly lowered.

Seeing that the conflict hadn’t erupted immediately, Fang Bo let out a long sigh and glanced at the smiling Gönitz, the leader of the Four Kings.

This guy hadn’t yet fully adapted to his new body; right now, he probably couldn’t even beat Fang Bo himself. If a fight broke out, it would likely end with Iori taking him out in a flash.

“Can we lower the posture a bit, just in case?” Fang Bo thought, though considering the nature of fighters, he couldn’t say it was that surprising.

Even when facing Orochi, ordinary fighters still dared to charge in, though the result was inevitably being wiped out with one move.

At least he admired their courage.

Fang Bo then fully explained the situation to Iori.

He detailed how Kyo Kusanagi had been captured by the enemy and was now being studied by a group of scientists, naked and vulnerable.

Comparing this with the enemy’s desire to seize the power of Orochi, Fang Bo felt Iori cared more about Kyo’s fate.

When Iori heard the part about “being naked,” he visibly tensed up, and his already somber expression deepened.

After a long silence, he spoke slowly, “Can you find him?”

“Of course.” Fang Bo smiled, a sign that Iori had agreed to join forces.

Once he saw the strength of the NESTS organization and the suffering Kyo Kusanagi had endured, Iori would undoubtedly participate in the upcoming King of Fighters tournament.

In Iori’s heart, no one besides himself could kill Kyo Kusanagi.

And if anyone dared to make a move, destruction was all that awaited them.

Mission Triggered: Rescue the Strongest Fist!
Mission Overview: You’ve promised to find the captured Kyo Kusanagi, and Iori Yagami is willing to work with you.
Mission Requirement: Retrieve Kyo Kusanagi from the NESTS base.
Hint: You may be able to purchase information from certain intelligence brokers.

The first hidden mission in this world had been triggered successfully.

Destiny Survey (1): Find those who are favored by fate.

With the Destiny Tokens in hand, no one could escape his grasp—this gave him a unique advantage.

As Fang Bo gained more experience, he began to realize that the “Fate Master” option from the previous reward was the most valuable choice.

At this point, he was simply searching for the target. He hadn’t yet experimented with other functions, like blocking fate’s gaze or stealing a character’s fate line.

Sometimes, Fang Bo would wonder just how useful these features really were.

“Imagine if I had stolen Naruto or Sasuke’s fate during the final battle in Naruto. Would I have become the one chosen by the Six Paths Sage?”

“If I get the chance, I have to try each of these.”

For Fang Bo, finding people was never a problem; the real issue was rescuing them from the NESTS base.

That’s why he sought out Iori Yagami, not people like Mai Shiranui, Goro Daimon, or Shingo Yabuki.

For one, they wouldn’t necessarily be compatible with Gönitz. Secondly, all of them combined couldn’t match a single injured Iori.

Dealing with the NESTS was no easy task. More people didn’t always mean it would be easier. If they alerted the enemy, even a large number of fighters wouldn’t stand a chance against a horde of clones.

The last thing Fang Bo wanted was to fail in rescuing Kyo and end up losing Iori as well.

With a simple flick of his coin, a fate line materialized before him.

Following it would lead him to the secret location where Kyo Kusanagi was being held.

Destiny Tokens: 5

Looking at the remaining tokens, Fang Bo decided to save them up. You never knew when they might come in handy.

“If all’s good, let’s head out,” he said.

Climbing into the borrowed sedan, the three muscular men crammed into the car, which felt a little tight, especially with the two powerful fighters glaring at each other.

To ease the tension, Fang Bo switched on the radio, hoping music would lighten the mood.

“Good evening, listeners. Up next, we have the new song ‘Rock Lobster’ by the Groundbeat Band.”

Fang Bo: “…”

Gönitz: “…”

Iori Yagami: “…”

The Groundbeat Band consisted of the fateful Chris, the wild Shermie, and the dry earth Seven. Together with Gönitz, they formed the Four Kings of the Heaven’s Divine Clan.

It was easy to imagine how the two would feel when hearing their music.

An excruciating silence stretched on for over twenty minutes, finally broken when Gönitz spoke up.

“Looks like you’re badly injured. Have you finally seen the greatness of my lord’s power?”

To Fang Bo, such a provocative remark wasn’t worth responding to.

As expected, Iori replied without even looking up. “Quite great. He was so proud when we sealed Orochi.”

“…We’re about to board the ship. You better not cause any trouble,” Fang Bo interrupted.

Since he was still being hunted, they couldn’t leave Southtown by plane.

However, once they left Geese’s territory, they would be free. Southtown’s isolation from the outside world meant he wouldn’t have to worry about facing a nationwide manhunt.

The map suggested that Kyo’s holding place was somewhere in South Africa, and they’d need a plane for the trip.

Fang Bo’s main concern was whether these two would start fighting on the plane.

Fortunately, his worry didn’t come true. They spent the rest of the trip bickering back and forth until they eventually retired to separate rooms on the cruise—one on the second floor and the other on the third, effectively avoiding one another.

It was a result Fang Bo had planned for. If they didn’t get along, it was best to keep them out of each other’s way.

The journey ahead would be long, and for the sake of their shared goal, it was better for everyone to keep their tempers in check.

Watching the two depart to their rooms, Fang Bo decided to take a stroll on the deck alone.

At the Southtown harbor, a group of cloaked men boarded the cruise.

“Target confirmed.”

“Good. Once night falls, we’ll act.”

The leader put down the communicator and walked to a room on the second floor.

The target was just around the corner in the room. Once the ship set sail, they would be trapped with nowhere to escape.

“After this mission, I’ll be promoted to a higher rank in the organization,” the leader mused, lifting his cloak.

Underneath was a familiar face.
