RWWOKS Chapter 213

This entry is part 214 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

Instinctively, Fang Bo tightened his grip on the steering wheel. Just a moment ago, he almost attacked directly.

Fortunately, he still had his wits about him and realized that even if a fight broke out, he wouldn’t be a match for her.

The girl who had jumped onto his sports car was none other than Kula, the girl he had briefly encountered at the NESTS base.

“This car is great,” she said as she slid into the passenger seat, stretching her hand out to feel the cool night breeze.

She seemed like an energetic young girl, not at all the kind of cold-blooded killer one might expect from a terrorist organization.

However, Fang Bo never forgot the display of power she had shown in the tunnel.

At least, he wasn’t going to be fooled by her youthful appearance.

Considering his mission, Fang Bo couldn’t help but ask in a low voice, “Are you here to hunt me down?”

If she said yes, he’d immediately turn and leap off the overpass, not giving her a chance to freeze him.

Compared to Kyo Kusanagi’s Crimson Flame, Fang Bo actually despised Kula’s freezing ability more.

If he were frozen, unable to recover health, he could easily be wiped out by a string of attacks from the enemy.

Crimson Flame, on the other hand, was different—so long as he wasn’t killed outright, there was always a chance to recover his health.

Seeing the potential for a dangerous car crash, the girl simply shook her head and said, “Don’t worry, I’m not here to hunt you down.”

“Then why—”

“Your car is just too cool, I couldn’t resist jumping in.”

In just a few words, she had avoided a potential headline-worthy car crash.

It seemed that Kula wasn’t here to kill him, but Fang Bo wasn’t about to trust her words completely.

Their encounter was no coincidence—NESTS wouldn’t just let Kula wander off freely.

Fang Bo glanced at the rearview mirror and asked with uncertainty, “You didn’t sneak out, did you?”

“Hehe.”

Kula waved her hand dismissively, then confidently said, “Yesterday’s enemy is today’s friend. Yep, we’re friends now.”

“…” Fang Bo didn’t respond. He knew well that Kula would eventually betray the NESTS organization.

For now, she was a potential ally. If they could avoid conflict, that would be the best outcome.

“Hey, my friend,” Kula said, seeing that Fang Bo didn’t speak. She became a bit more forward, asking, “Could you give me a ride to this place?”

She pointed to a location on the map.

Fang Bo looked at it and realized, wasn’t that the abandoned factory he was heading to?

Wait a minute, this girl’s going there to kill Iori Yagami?!

Recalling the storyline from King of Fighters 2000, one name suddenly appeared in his mind.

K’. This girl was after the protagonist from the NESTS arc.

The coincidence of the destination might be due to Iori Yagami recently showing up in the area, catching the attention of the “Anti-NESTS” team.

Given that their objectives aligned, Fang Bo hesitated for a moment before nodding in agreement.

He pressed the gas pedal hard, and the sports car let out a sharp roar, accompanied by Kula’s joyful laughter.

Inside the abandoned factory, a young man with silver-white hair walked forward with his head slightly bowed.

His hunched posture was oppressive, and the hands shoved into his pockets only added to the air of disdain.

It was as if the group of cloned soldiers before him weren’t even worth his attention.

This was none other than K’, the absolute protagonist of the NESTS arc, known as the strongest modified human.

His black motorcycle jacket exuded quality, and the silver cross hanging from his neck swayed as he walked.

His demeanor was rebellious, his contempt for his enemies deeply ingrained.

Even the emotionally indifferent clone soldiers couldn’t help but feel a slight irritation from his attitude.

“Traitor, today’s your last day.”

The moment the words were spoken, gunfire erupted from the advanced tech weapons of NESTS, the damage potential far from negligible.

However, in K’s eyes, their rate of fire was far too slow. With a quick sidestep, he easily appeared behind the enemy lines.

His arm, clad in red gloves, shot up high, and flames danced like mischievous spirits, weaving through the soldiers.

Finishing Move: Trigger!

“Ah, help!”

“Damn it, why isn’t the fireproof suit working?!”

“This guy’s way stronger than the data said!”

No matter how much the soldiers resisted, their fate was sealed as they were burned alive by the blazing inferno.

Moments later, the ground was littered with charred corpses, and K’ still stood with that cool, nonchalant attitude.

At that moment, a muscular man approached from a distance. This was Maxima, the half-human, half-machine warrior.

His relationship with K’ was like that of Kyo Kusanagi and Mai Shiranui—close comrades, bound by an unbreakable bond.

“K’, what’s up? You in a bad mood today?” Maxima asked as he approached, his gaze falling on the clone soldiers’ bodies with sadness.

He didn’t hold any hatred toward these puppets, knowing the real enemy was the NESTS organization.

Normally, his comrade wouldn’t have been this ruthless. Today, it seemed like something emotional had triggered this outburst.

“…” K’ remained silent, showing no intention of sharing his thoughts.

Seeing his friend’s response, Maxima sighed, realizing that when K’ was ready to speak, he would.

Beep beep beep!

Suddenly, an alert sounded, signaling a high-energy target approaching rapidly.

In the next moment, a red sports car crashed through the factory windows, performing a perfect drift and coming to a stop right in front of them.

The mischievous Kula jumped out of the car before it even fully stopped, executing a difficult three-and-a-half-spin before landing smoothly.

Unfortunately, no one clapped for her performance.

Pouting slightly, Kula thought to herself, If they were here, they’d definitely cheer for me.

Having been locked away in laboratories for years, the fourteen-year-old Kula’s mental maturity was more like that of an eight- or nine-year-old child.

She looked almost less mature than Yao Yao.

As Fang Bo quietly observed, the fiery clash between ice and fire had already begun.

With their ultimate moves colliding, it felt like the whole factory could collapse at any moment.

Noticing Maxima walking toward him, Fang Bo politely greeted him: “Hey, would you believe me if I said I’m just a driver?”

“What do you think?”

“Ah, these days, honestly, no one would believe that.”

He opened the car door and stepped out, his tone serious. “This car was lent to me by someone else, so please don’t scratch it.”

“…” Maxima was a little speechless, but he could tell that Fang Bo wasn’t too eager to fight.

It wasn’t just the driver—even Kula, the ice girl, wasn’t fully committing to the fight.

It felt more like they were just going through the motions.

Even so, Maxima didn’t let that be his excuse. Whether they were willing or not, the fight had to happen.

“Alright, let’s go!” Maxima said, getting ready to fight.

Maxima (Half-Human, Half-Cyborg)

Attack Tendency: Medium
Attribute Tendency: Mental, Power, Constitution
Traits: Instinctive Reaction, Cyborg
Threat Assessment: Moderate

Instinctive Reaction: Increases awareness of danger, reduces critical hit damage.

Cyborg: +200 health, reduces damage from firearms.

Maxima was the typical heavy-hitter, occasionally playing the tank role as well.

Without this durability, he wouldn’t have been able to plow through battles alongside the storyline’s protagonist.

“Can’t beat K’, but this guy should be no problem, right?” Fang Bo said, seemingly indifferent, though in his mind, he was weighing the consequences of killing Maxima.

In a one-on-one fight, he felt he had a good chance of taking Maxima down. With the sharpness of his treasure tools, he wasn’t intimidated by this tank-like fighter.

The real question was how the protagonist, K’, would react.

If he succeeded, K’—already emotionally unstable—would likely explode with power, and Kula might not be able to handle him.

Moreover, he didn’t believe the girl would fight to the death.

Considering the potential consequences, Fang Bo decided to abandon his plans for battle.

“Actually, I’m looking for someone…”

Assassins Approaching! Prepare for a response, Reincarnator!

Before he could finish, the sound of manic laughter echoed from the distance.

Everyone turned to see a man in a red cloak walking toward them.

He slammed his hand against the blocking glass, and the next moment, dozens of large windows shattered.

Not because they were in his way, but because he wanted to.

“I finally found you!!!”

The man in the red cloak was none other than K9999, a modified human from the NESTS organization.

Previously, due to the control device inside him, he had been forced to submit to the NESTS.

He was here because his orders were to eliminate the earlier intruders.

The fight reported in the news? That was K9999’s battle with Iori Yagami.

From the current state, it was clear who had won and who had lost.

Boldly entering the factory, K9999 looked around before finally locking eyes with his sworn enemy.

In his eyes, killing Fang Bo was just a casual task—K’ was the real threat, the one deserving of his full attention.

K9999’s hostility was palpable, and even Maxima could feel the murderous intent.

Looking at the self-proclaimed driver, Maxima spoke up, “Seems like you two don’t get along?”

Hearing this, Fang Bo sneered and replied, “You should be more concerned about yourselves.”

Knowing K9999’s personality, he was confident the man wouldn’t pursue him if he chose to flee.

Escaping the second round of pursuit wouldn’t be hard, but Fang Bo was considering how to gain the maximum advantage.

The atmosphere inside the factory had grown tense.

First, K’ and Kula were enemies.

Second, K9999 and Kula didn’t get along either. Not long ago, they had clashed physically, and that wasn’t something that could be easily forgotten.

The proof was that ever since K9999 appeared, Kula had been staring at him with intense hostility.

Instead of a two-way battle, this could very well turn into a three-way free-for-all.

So, the question was: which side should Fang Bo choose?

Before he could decide, another sound of footsteps reached his ears.

A man dressed as a priest slowly walked into this place of chaos.

He wasn’t Goenitz, but someone Fang Bo had never seen before.

“Long time no see,” the priest said, staring into his eyes, a chilling smile creeping across his lips.

“Number Seven.”
