- FLDI Chapter 195
When Thor first broke through to become a Great Knight, he was already powerful enough to rival some Earth Knights who had ascended through secret methods. After advancing to the mid-stage of the Great Knight realm, even facing regular Earth Knights, he was fully confident in his ability to handle them.
Later, at the northern defense line, when he broke through to the late stage of the Great Knight realm, his strength undoubtedly ascended to a new level, making him capable of dealing with even mid-stage Earth Knights.
Now, having reached the Earth Knight rank, he was not just confident facing late-stage Earth Knights—he even felt ready to take on the peak of the Earth Knight realm.
Though Secchi Spenser had already reached the mid-stage of the Earth Knight realm, he was completely overpowered by Thor, who swiftly killed him in an instant.
The two Earth Knights under Secchi Spenser, though both at the late stage of the Earth Knight realm, were still not at the peak level. In mere moments, one was hurled far away, unable to rise, frozen solid by the cold ice. The other had his chest pierced and was similarly frozen in place.
“Whoosh!”
Thor approached the bodies, yanking his knight’s spear out of Secchi Spenser’s chest. His gaze swept over the battlefield.
At this moment, the situation had stabilized. Not far off, Rayn had also killed an Earth Knight, while Water and another Earth Knight were struggling to fend off attacks.
But at this point, both of them had an acrid, burnt smell surrounding them, their faces pale with exhaustion.
When Thor’s gaze fell upon them, both Water and the other Earth Knight instinctively tensed up.
“Lord Thor!”
“Lord Thor, this is a misunderstanding!” Water urgently called out, struggling to resist Rayne’s onslaught.
Just as he spoke, a sudden sense of danger gripped him. Almost instinctively, he raised his knight’s spear to defend himself.
But that was all he could manage.
“Boom!”
A deafening crash echoed as pain exploded in his chest. He felt an overwhelming force slam into him, and the next moment, his body was sent flying.
“Crash!”
Wheezing! Water landed harshly, coughing violently, blood spilling from the corner of his mouth. But he couldn’t afford to pay attention to his condition—his eyes were locked onto the battlefield.
And what he saw made his pupils widen in shock.
Rayne’s spear had pierced through the chest of the last Earth Knight, who collapsed to the ground.
“How could this be?”
Water’s eyes were wide with disbelief.
This was a late-stage Earth Knight, someone so powerful that even some noble families might not have such strength. Yet, he had been dispatched so easily.
Amidst the disbelief, Water’s heart skipped a beat.
He quickly spoke again.
“Lord Thor, Lord Thor, this is a misunderstanding. Everything was Secchi Spenser’s doing. I tried to stop him.”
“By the way, Lord Thor, my father will pay you. A large amount of gold.”
“Ten thousand—no, thirty thousand.”
“He can definitely raise thirty thousand!”
Water spoke rapidly, no longer caring about his previous position.
“Lord!”
Rayne turned to look at Thor, who had walked over.
“Is it done?”
Thor glanced at Water for a moment, then lightly nodded.
“Yes.”
Rayne didn’t hesitate and immediately advanced, knight’s spear in hand.
“Thor, you can’t do this. I’m the son of a noble, my father is a marquis.”
“Damn it, what are you doing?”
“Stop, Lord Thor, I’m telling the truth.”
“Thor, you’re crazy.”
“What do you want?”
Water’s voice grew increasingly desperate as Rayne drew closer, but it was to no avail.
As Rayne approached, Thor simply nodded.
At the nod, Rayne didn’t hesitate.
“Whoosh!”
A flash of lightning, and Rayn’s knight’s spear pierced through Water’s chest, pinning him to the ground.
The sight of this horrified the remaining onlookers.
Their lord had been slain by Thor and his party.
Fear spread uncontrollably.
One by one, the knights instinctively tried to flee, but it was already too late.
Thor and Rayn had joined the fray.
Half an hour later.
The four Earth Knights brought by Secchi Spenser and Water, along with over two hundred formal knights, had all been eliminated.
The ground was littered with corpses, each filled with terror, sprawled in various directions.
Meanwhile, Thor’s group had only suffered a few minor injuries, fewer than ten in total.
The sight caused Brian to gasp.
“Thor, your strength!”
Brian couldn’t help but glance at Thor, then at Rayn, unsure of what to say.
Even though he had seen the strength of both Thor and Rayn before, the breakthrough they had both experienced had still left him deeply shocked.
Six Earth Knights had been dispatched so easily.
Thinking of himself as merely a mid-stage Earth Knight, Brian felt his heart race.
“Brother Brian, thanks again for your help this time!”
Thor smiled lightly, not overly concerned, and expressed his gratitude to Brian.
This time, Brian had come with him not only to visit his son in the northern provinces, but also to protect Thor and his party.
Thor was truly grateful for his help.
“It seems I really am getting old!”
Brian snapped out of his shock, giving Thor a deep look before sighing and shaking his head. He walked off to the side.
Thor watched him go, then paused for a moment in thought before walking over to Water’s body, which had been killed by Rayn.
He crouched down and began searching.
Soon, Thor’s hand found something hard on Water’s chest. Without hesitation, he took it out.
It was a peculiar metal pocket watch.
When he had first entered the northern defense line, the daily intelligence report had mentioned a certain Viscount Muhann from the capital, who was in possession of a strange pocket watch that contained an unknown secret.
Thor had originally intended to investigate it to see if he could acquire the watch. After all, the daily reports had suggested it might be something important. But a series of battles, including those at the Divine Ruins and the Sacred Domain, had left him no time to follow up.
Unexpectedly, this same pocket watch had appeared again in the daily report just a few days ago.
But this time, it was no longer with Viscount Muhann. Instead, it was with Water.
And Water had brought the pocket watch to try to kill him.
With someone plotting against him and carrying a “treasure,” Thor didn’t need to think twice about his course of action.
He examined the watch for a moment but didn’t detect anything unusual.
Clearly, just like with the Silver Moon Breathing Technique, it required a specific environment to reveal its true nature.
After a brief pause, Thor didn’t continue investigating. He simply tucked the pocket watch into his pocket.
With the daily intelligence system in place, Thor believed that even if he couldn’t discover something right away, it was bound to have results eventually. There was no need to figure it all out in the first moment.
He glanced at Water and then began searching again.
Unfortunately, this time was different from the last. When he killed Steyn Campbell previously, he reaped significant rewards, as Steyn had just evacuated from his territory and naturally carried a large amount of gold.
This time, however, Water and Secchi were only here to participate in the Divine Ruins, so they couldn’t possibly bring much gold.
After a brief search, Thor only found a handful of silver cards, worth just a bit over a thousand gold coins.
On the other side, Steve and Perros had finished cleaning up the battlefield, but their haul wasn’t much either.
Altogether, the total gold amounted to less than three thousand coins.
Three thousand gold wasn’t much to Thor at this point.
Fortunately, his actions had never been about gold. Even three thousand gold coins wasn’t a small amount.
Of course, Thor had planned to share half of the gold with Brian.
But Brian adamantly refused, so Thor gave up on the idea.
The group then swiftly began clearing the entire battlefield.
The bodies were doused with thorn juice.
As the group set off again, crimson eyes began to appear from the jungle, and a large number of magical beasts gathered.
Today, they would undoubtedly have a feast.
No one knew that two powerful noble heirs’ knight squads had quietly disappeared from the northern front.
However, this time, many powerful noble heirs had fallen on the northern front.
Another two would hardly be surprising.
Of course, if someone investigated, they could still find some clues.
But Thor didn’t care about that.
Whether it was Water’s background or Secchi Spencer’s Spencer family, Thor didn’t feel much concern at the moment.
Two marquis families, that’s all.
Right now, his father had broken through to become a Sky Knight, and Neil Morton had also reached that level.
Add to that himself and Rayne—although they weren’t Sky Knights—any Sky Knight who wanted to deal with them would find it nearly impossible.
In this situation, he had little to worry about.
Especially since, upon his return to the Northern Province, the news that the Divine Ruins had not arrived would spread. The major powerful noble heirs would undoubtedly return, and due to past events, conflicts between them were almost inevitable.
At that point, there would be nothing more to worry about.
The cold moonlight gradually spilled across the land.
Time slowly passed.
After dealing with Water and Secchi Spencer, the rest of the journey went much more smoothly.
Although they encountered some magical beasts along the way, dealing with them was easy.
In fact, Rayne had already handled it all by himself before Thor had to lift a finger.
In such circumstances, ten days passed in the blink of an eye.
The group finally returned to the Eagle Territory.
At this point, almost a month had passed since their departure.
The changes in the Eagle Territory were just as immense.
Golden wheat ears dotted the fields.
The excavation of the Eagle River had turned the surrounding area into farmland, and thanks to the improved seeds from Aivira, every wheat ear was full, promising a huge harvest this year.
In the fields, busy figures worked with smiles on their faces.
“Thor, is this your territory?”
Brian couldn’t help but be stunned as he looked at the scene.
“Brother Brian, of course, this is my territory.”
Tor smiled and nodded.
“This—!”
Hearing Tor’s firm words, Brian couldn’t help but widen his mouth, momentarily unable to say anything.
Thor naturally understood his shock.
Anyone who entered the Eagle Territory would be astonished.
After all, the Eagle Territory had been built in less than two years, and the scale was almost unimaginable.
Tor chuckled lightly and led Brian into what was no longer just a small town.
In fact, calling it a town was no longer appropriate.
Compared to before, the size of Eagle Town had expanded nearly threefold and was still rapidly growing.
Everywhere, busy slaves and goblins with heavy shackles could be seen working.
The population of Eagle Town had also grown several times over since Thor had left.
In previous operations, they had taken many slaves from various lords, and Thor had acquired quite a few.
Although only a portion remained in Eagle Town, it still caused a massive population boom.
This further stunned Brian, who had entered for the first time.
The group returned to the castle.
It was still early, so Thor had the servants arrange accommodations for Brian.
Then, he summoned Joseph.
He needed to understand the current situation of the Eagle Territory after nearly a month of his absence.
He also wanted to know if the support from his father had arrived.
Soon, Joseph hurriedly returned.
In the study, Thor quietly flipped through the documents of Eagle Territory’s activities during the past month, while Joseph stood nervously beside him, not daring to make a sound.
This was his first time as the chief administrator, and during this month, Thor had been completely absent.
Joseph had made many decisions on his own, but now that the inspection had begun, he couldn’t help but feel nervous.
“Rustle!”
The sound of pages turning filled the air, and Joseph’s heart seemed to beat in sync with the rustling.
He unconsciously held his breath.
He didn’t know how long it took, or how much time had passed.
Finally, Thor’s movements slowed, his thoughts briefly pausing, and his right hand began tapping rhythmically on the desk.
