BPG Chapter 55

This entry is part 56 of 59 in the series Demon King, don't run away [Peasant in the Game World]

In the warehouse, there was a unique corner equipped with various books to alleviate the loneliness of the night, a freshly opened bottle of red wine, and a warm blanket, making a cozy little nest. Though it wasn’t as luxurious as a villa, it offered a sense of security.

Slarat poured the red wine into a glass, savoring its rich sweetness. The world might be harsh, but at least this thick blanket provided some warmth.

Perhaps the “guards” knew about his little haven, but whenever trouble arose, he would throw them into the first underground level, and few ever returned to their posts. Thus, his secret hideout had never been exposed to Asuna.

After eating and drinking to his heart’s content, Slarat lay down to sleep. In his drowsiness, he heard a voice.

“Nice clothes you have there, but they’ll be mine in a second!”

Slarat felt a sudden chill on his buttocks and saw a figure pulling up their pants. He snapped his eyes open and saw the man he had recruited today donning his finest uniform, presenting an alluring figure in the outfit.

Yang Yu adjusted the collar, looking immensely satisfied. “Perfect fit.”

Help! Thief!

Slarat wanted to shout but found his mouth tightly gagged. He tried to struggle but realized his hands and feet were bound.

“Mmmph mmmph—”

(What do you think you’re doing?)

“Nothing much, just borrowing your identity. Don’t struggle if you want to live.”

Yang Yu drew Slarat’s sword and lightly patted Slarat’s cheek with the cold blade, the chill penetrating through to his spine. Slarat immediately ceased struggling, remaining silent.

Even now, he couldn’t comprehend why this man was doing this. But deep down, he realized—this man hadn’t been charmed by Asuna at all!

Impossible… Someone so disheveled couldn’t possibly be immune to Asuna’s charm.

No matter how he rationalized, Slarat couldn’t accept this reality.

Yang Yu adjusted his hair with some gel, giving himself a refined and somewhat handsome look.

Impossible! How could this be? When I first saw him, he wasn’t this charming. I swear by my eyes. But how do I explain this now?

Slarat felt like he was about to explode. Yang Yu, unconcerned, sheathed the sword, lifted Slarat, and tossed him into an empty oil drum. “I’ll say it again, don’t struggle. There’s a lot of clutter here. If you do, I can’t guarantee what might happen to you.”

The lid slowly closed, plunging Slarat into darkness. He had never imagined, as a family elite, that he would end up in such a pathetic state. Anger and frustration gnawed at him, but he was helpless.

This story teaches us that slacking off can lead to some shameless man stripping you of your clothes.

Initially, Yang Yu didn’t know how to infiltrate the first underground level. But thinking of his increased charm, he figured if he could wear a high-ranking outfit, he might pass through the checkpoints easily.

And then, as if fate answered his call, Slarat presented himself, practically gift-wrapped.

Dusting off his hands, Yang Yu walked out of the warehouse, signaling Bai Jin to follow.

Now, with Yang Yu exuding an aura as imposing as, if not more so than, Slarat, Bai Jin felt that Yang Yu was the true overseer here.

Unable to look directly at Yang Yu, Bai Jin followed him towards the entrance of the first underground level.

The entrance was a massive iron door over two meters high and ten centimeters thick, covered in fine scratches. Before it, dozens of enchanted guards stood at attention, ready for anything.

Managing them were four individuals in orange and white short-sleeved uniforms. During an emergency, these managers would command the guards to block the doors and maintain order. They were also responsible for logging entries and exits.

As Yang Yu approached, these managers tilted their heads in curiosity.

Who is this guy? Why haven’t we seen him before?

As they wracked their brains to recall a matching figure, Yang Yu reached them.

“Good evening, gentlemen. You might not recognize me yet. I’m the newly appointed security officer from above, Karirala Licorice. To prevent spies from infiltrating and to ensure our experiments proceed smoothly, I’ve been temporarily assigned here. I’m here to introduce myself and inspect the first and second underground levels. Could someone guide me?”

Initially skeptical, the four managers scrutinized Yang Yu. The more they looked, the more they found him noble. His meticulously sculpted features bore no trace of deceit, his clothes were finely tailored, and his sword bespoke high quality. His entire demeanor exuded authority, fitting only for a true aristocrat.

“Sir, perhaps you should first consult the current officer in charge, Deputy Minister Slarat.”

“I’ve already spoken to him,” Yang Yu replied casually. “He’s resting somewhere. He hasn’t changed a bit. Whenever things don’t go his way, he starts slacking off, knowing that Asuna’s here to cover. He told me not to let Asuna know he’s shirking his duties.”

Slarat’s laziness was an open secret, but nobody had told Asuna.

Partly out of sympathy for Slarat, partly out of fear of his vindictiveness.

“Also, I brought these workers here today on Slarat’s orders. Asuna’s skills are incredible, aren’t they…”

“Sir, this isn’t the place to discuss such matters.”

The managers promptly stopped Yang Yu, wary of the workers hearing they were under a spell.

“You’re right. My apologies,” Yang Yu said, smiling warmly. “If you doubt my identity, I can fetch Slarat to confirm it.”

Being so amiable to subordinates, the managers’ trust in Yang Yu soared, dispelling any suspicions.

“No need for that, sir. We recognize your status. Only a few can walk so freely here. Feel free to inspect the first underground level. We’ll ensure your safety.”
