FLDI Chapter 1

This entry is part 2 of 211 in the series Fantasy Lord: Start with Daily Intelligence

Chapter 1: The Young Eagle of Dressrosa Castle

The morning sun shines down.

On the training ground, boys clad in knightly armor and barrel helmets shout as they train. Their faces are resolute, sweat streaming down, yet none of them relax. As the young eagles of Count Dressrosa, they must prove their worth before adulthood.

Otherwise, even the lowest rank of knight might be beyond their reach.

If they fail to earn the title of knight, their status will be no different from that of commoners, stripped of the protection and privileges granted by the kingdom. The light of the Goddess of Life will no longer shine upon them.

This is something none of them can accept.

Yet, no matter how unacceptable it is, some are destined not to become knights.

After all, forming the Seed of Life and becoming a qualified apprentice knight before the age of eighteen is no easier than passing the entrance exam to Peking or Tsinghua in a previous life.

At least for Jiang Chen—no, now he should be called Thor Dressrosa—there seemed little hope.

As a transmigrator, Thor never imagined that he would wake up one day in a medieval fantasy world as the son of Count Dressrosa.

At first, he was undoubtedly thrilled.

Sure, there were no gentle maids to wake him, just a male servant who gave him goosebumps.

But the sight of his three-meter-wide bed and the exquisite food and clothing left him feeling that this transmigration wasn’t in vain.

This indulgent feudal lifestyle was truly wonderful.

However, the excitement didn’t last long.

Thor soon realized that his good days might be numbered.

For hundreds of years, the Dressrosa family had followed one strict rule: any offspring who failed to form their Seed of Life and become an apprentice knight by the age of eighteen would lose the family’s protection, stripped of their knightly title and cast out. Only apprentice knights could continue to enjoy the family’s privileges.

The title of knight was this world’s superpower.

Noble descendants could take Life Elixirs, paired with extensive training, to form their own Seed of Life, granting them strength beyond the ordinary.

“Stop!!”

“Rest!!”

Thor’s thoughts were interrupted by the sharp voice of Knight Captain Michael.

“Clang!”

“Thud!”

The sounds of helmets hitting the ground filled the air as one by one, the young eagles of Dressrosa Castle collapsed onto the ground, exhausted. Thor was no exception, pulling off his helmet and gasping for breath, feeling as though his lungs might burst.

The others weren’t faring much better.

Each one struggled to calm the burning sensation in their chests after the grueling training.

Some sat cross-legged, trying to seize every moment to concentrate on forming their Seed of Life.

Thor glanced at his brothers, then settled himself into a cross-legged position, quietly sensing the flow of life force within him.

Minutes passed, then nearly an hour.

“Exhale…”

Thor let out a heavy breath and slowly opened his eyes, frustration written across his face.

Just like before, he still couldn’t form his Seed of Life. Despite sensing a little more life force than before, it still wasn’t enough.

At this rate, he figured it would take at least another year to successfully form the Seed.

But time wasn’t on his side.

In just three days, he would come of age. If he couldn’t form his Seed of Life by then, he would become a wandering knight, stripped of the Dressrosa name, unless he could somehow regain a noble title—a nearly impossible feat without the power of a knight.

Becoming a noble without being a knight was nothing short of a pipe dream.

“Why couldn’t I have transmigrated with some sort of cheat ability?” Thor muttered under his breath, feeling both helpless and frustrated.

He had barely enjoyed the perks of his new life, and now he was about to be reduced to a wandering knight. It wasn’t exactly the best situation to be in.

Sighing, he prepared to stand up, eager to wash off the sticky sweat clinging to his body.

But just as he was about to rise, a mechanical voice suddenly echoed in his mind.

“Matching with the world…”

“Match successful!”

“Matching with the character…”

“Match successful!”

“Congratulations, you have obtained the Daily Information System!”

“Would you like to activate it?”

The voice was startling, and as a flood of information poured into his mind, Thor’s eyes widened in disbelief. Excitement began to bubble up inside him.

A cheat ability. He never expected it, but he had one after all.

“Activate!” he exclaimed, almost unable to contain his eagerness.

The moment the words left his mouth, a ripple of energy spread through the air.

Lines of golden text began to appear before his eyes:

[Daily Information Updated]

1. Kevin Dressrosa will awaken his Seed of Life at noon today, successfully becoming a qualified apprentice knight.

2. Maid Loris and servant Engri have developed romantic feelings for each other.

6. Engel Dressrosa is troubled by his limited strength.

7.

10. .

Thor could barely contain his joy as he read the messages flashing before him.

It wasn’t just the fact that he had a cheat ability—it was what this particular ability could do.

The Daily Information System would provide him with crucial intelligence every day, up to ten pieces of information related to his surroundings.

This power was a game-changer.

Information was the most valuable resource, no matter the world, no matter the person.

Among today’s messages, there was one that directly related to his most urgent problem—one that could solve his current predicament.

Thor’s gaze locked onto the fourth message, and he couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement in his heart.
