Chapter 10: A Month’s Time, A Farewell Gift

In the study.

A knock came at the door.

“Master!”

Charlie’s respectful voice sounded from outside.

“How did it go?”

Count Engel Dressrosa asked, his eyes still focused on the book in front of him.

“Young Master Thor has already given the Life Elixir to Raine,”

Charlie replied with reverence.

“Understood. You may go.”

Count Engel Dressrosa nodded, and Charlie quietly withdrew.

Thor hadn’t realized that the conversation with his father wasn’t just a lesson but also a test.

The mid-grade Life Elixir was incredibly valuable. Even for the young eagles of the Dressrosa family, it was something they had never encountered. There was no certainty as to whether Thor would choose to keep it for himself.

If Thor had kept it, it would certainly advance his knightly cultivation. However, being a lord is more about understanding how to manage resources and plan for the future. If Thor failed this test, his father would reconsider the level of investment he was willing to make in him.

But this kind of test was unnecessary for Thor, who had the Daily Information System.

For him, the Life Elixir wasn’t something he needed to worry about. The Daily Information System offered him opportunities far greater than one vial of mid-grade Life Elixir.

Though the system hadn’t provided much support over the past few days, Thor knew it was only because he had been staying within the confines of Dressrosa Castle. Once he set off for the Northern Province, he was confident the system would reveal even greater rewards. He didn’t need to cling to the elixir.

Time passed quickly.

Over the next ten days, Thor fully immersed himself in preparing for his journey, while also keeping an eye on the daily updates from his system.

However, much like before, the Daily Information over those ten days didn’t reveal anything particularly groundbreaking. It only pointed to items worth a few or even a few hundred gold coins.

There were no more top-tier finds like the Life Fruit or a genius like Raine.

But this was understandable. After all, the towns under Dressrosa Castle’s rule had a population of only a few hundred thousand. The appearance of both a Life Fruit and a prodigy like Raine was already a miracle.

And miracles don’t happen every day.

Thor wasn’t discouraged by this.

As he expected, the real stage awaited him in the Northern Province—a land full of untapped resources and unimaginable opportunities. That was where his Daily Information System would truly shine.

The night passed quietly.

As the final day of Thor’s time at Dressrosa Castle arrived, his father summoned him to the study early in the morning.

“Take a look and tell me what else you need. If it’s within reason, I’ll make sure to provide it.”

Count Engel Dressrosa spoke warmly, looking at his son with a steady gaze.

As he spoke, Charlie handed Thor a list.

“Yes, Father!”

Thor responded, a mix of nerves and anticipation in his heart. He knew this was the family’s official support for him as a frontier knight.

The items on the list were crucial to his development over the coming years, so naturally, Thor was eager to see them.

After all, even with his Daily Information System, the family’s support would be the foundation of his rapid growth.

Thor’s eyes focused on the list.

10,000 gold coins

50 vials of low-grade Life Elixir

3 vials of mid-grade Life Elixir

34 knights

100 apprentice knights

300 knight cadets

1 set of gold armor

34 sets of silver armor

100 sets of bronze armor

300 sets of black iron armor

As the words registered in his mind, Thor’s breathing became heavier.

This was far more than he had expected.

A rough estimate placed the value of these supplies at over 100,000 gold coins. To put that in perspective, the entire Dressrosa family territory generated less than 100,000 gold coins in revenue per year. What he was being given was worth more than a year’s worth of the family’s income.

On top of that, 34 knights, 100 apprentice knights, and 300 knight cadets accounted for nearly one-tenth of the Dressrosa family’s knightly forces. Even without any Grand Knights, this was a substantial power base.

Thor raised his gaze, his breathing still uneven, and looked at his father.

“I told you before, the young eagles of the Dressrosa family are ready to spread their wings. As the head of this family, and as your father, I must provide you with a proper gift.”

“So, are you satisfied?”

Count Dressrosa’s voice was calm, his expression steady, despite the immense value of the wealth he was offering.

“Thank you, Father! I’m more than satisfied!”

Thor took a deep breath and spoke with deep respect.

At that moment, his gratitude was genuine.

While he had expected his father to provide significant support, he hadn’t imagined it would be on this scale.

Such a fortune would provide him with everything he needed to establish himself.

“I’m glad you’re satisfied. Now, let’s go meet your new subordinates. Today, under the witness of the Goddess of Life, they will become your most loyal knights.”

Count Dressrosa smiled and stood up.

“Yes, Father!”

Thor nodded, stepping aside to let his father lead the way.

Together, they walked out of the castle and into the training grounds.

There, 34 knights, 100 apprentice knights, and 300 cadet knights stood waiting.

As Count Dressrosa and Thor approached, all 400 men knelt in unison.

“Go on, Thor. That’s your stage now,”

Count Dressrosa said with a smile, gesturing for his son to step forward.

“Yes, Father!”

Thor’s heart raced as he walked up the platform.

The moment he stepped onto the stage, one of the lead knights drew his sword.

“Swear your oath!”

The knight’s deep, solemn voice echoed.

In the next moment, a chorus of voices rose from the knights.

As their oaths rang out, a golden scroll unfurled above them, and the power of the contract began to weave through the air.

Unlike the guardian contract Thor had with Raine, this was a loyalty contract.

While not as binding as a guardian contract, it established a strong connection through the scroll. It was impossible to expect all these knights to fully pledge their hearts to Thor, even though he had earned their loyalty with his generosity.

But for now, this was more than enough.

As the contract took hold, Thor waved his hand, distributing the armor and weapons his father had provided. He even gifted 34 of the 50 vials of low-grade Life Elixir to his new knights.
