FLDI Chapter 126

This entry is part 127 of 211 in the series Fantasy Lord: Start with Daily Intelligence

Over the next several days, each of the fledgling knights at the Dressrosa Castle threw themselves into intense training. Thor didn’t prioritize talent; instead, he rewarded pure effort. This meant nearly everyone had a shot, and none of these young ones wanted to let their chance slip by.

Even so, Carter remained in the lead, his dedication evident as he spent nearly all his time training. He earned one point on the first day, repeated this on the second, and by the third day was still ahead. Only on the fourth day did someone briefly surpass him—though just for that day. By the fifth day, Carter regained his lead, spurring the others to train even harder, gritting their teeth in determination.

One week passed in this competitive fervor.

“At the end of this week, Carter is first, with Leah in last place. For the next year, Leah will have a deduction in life potion rations,” Thor announced loudly on the training grounds.

Instantly, all eyes turned to Carter and Leah.

Leah seemed unfazed; he had already decided to quit training, so one potion loss meant little to him. Carter, on the other hand, could barely contain his excitement, especially as he was presented with a bottle of intermediate life potion, his face flushing with joy.

“Thank you, Brother Thor!” Carter said, his voice full of gratitude as he looked at Thor, aware of how this potion might change his destiny.

“It’s well-deserved,” Thor replied. “Alright, let’s continue! This time, it will last for a month. Whoever comes in first will also receive an intermediate life potion, and the top three will receive a low-grade life potion each. But for those in the bottom three, there will be a deduction in life potion rations for the entire year.”

At Thor’s words, everyone’s eyes brightened with excitement.

There was even more to gain this time.

And this time, the top three would win something.

This meant a chance not only for Carter but for others as well. Even though the reward was just a low-grade potion and not intermediate, having an extra potion would significantly support their knight breathing technique training and even increase their chances of cultivating a life seed.

But the stakes were also higher.

The bottom three would lose their potion rations.

Previously, with Leah consistently in last place, there was little worry. Now, with two more slots, everyone felt a new level of tension.

This was precisely what Thor wanted.

The first week had shown them he was serious about the rewards. Now, with this month-long competition, he would draw every fledgling knight in Dressrosa to push themselves even harder.

Unbeknownst to Thor, Count Engel, one of the castle’s high-ranking nobles, was observing the scene quietly.

Having returned three days ago, he was well aware of Thor’s initiative. Now, as he watched the energetic training below, a smile spread across his face. Next to him stood Michael, his expression tinged with awe.

“What do you think?” Count Engel asked softly.

“Young Master Thor is truly a natural-born leader,” Michael replied with admiration.

Michael felt deeply moved; in just seven days, Thor had managed to change the entire spirit of the Eagle’s Nest, something he hadn’t anticipated.

“Hahaha!”

“Indeed, his future is even brighter than mine. Our Dressrosa family’s eagles are ready to soar,” Count Engel declared with a hearty laugh.

“Yes, Thor is a true eagle,” Michael said earnestly, his mind flashing back to the young boy he had seen on the training grounds years ago, now replaced by a confident, commanding figure.

“Let’s keep this as an annual tradition: top three earn an extra life potion each year, while the bottom three lose theirs. Perhaps natural talent isn’t everything,” Count Engel mused, recalling Thor’s impressive progress.

A grand knight already.

Thor had reached this status in under two years.

Count Engel knew his talent well. But for him to achieve such a leap after less than two years in the northern province was extraordinary.

If Thor could do it, so could others.

Even if the odds were low, Count Engel felt it was worth the attempt. The cost was minimal.

“Yes, my lord,” Michael agreed, fully committing to the new tradition.

“By the way, have you found anything on the Purple Gold Grass?”

“Yes, my lord. There will be three stalks at the kingdom’s auction next month. Additionally, it’s rumored that the Assad family may have one, though this isn’t confirmed.”

“Two sources?” Count Engel raised an eyebrow in surprise.

“It’s still uncertain whether the Assad family’s stalk is genuine. Only the kingdom’s auction has been confirmed,” Michael explained.

“That’s sufficient!”

“Prepare to accompany me to the capital. It’s been years since you last returned,” Count Engel said with a chuckle.

“My lord, what about the Assad auction?” Michael asked, hesitating slightly.

“No need to worry. Since it’s only a possibility, Thor can attend on our behalf,” Count Engel replied.

“Young Master Thor!” Michael paused, then nodded.

“Prepare for the journey!” Count Engel said with a smile, and the two began their preparations.

Unaware of these plans, Thor refocused on his own training, joining the others as they practiced their knight breathing techniques.

The Elven Maiden and the Ice Elemental Power of the Natural Elves have now endowed Thor with a terrifying level of talent.

As time passed, a thin layer of frost began to spread across the training ground.

The surrounding temperature seemed to have dropped noticeably.

He was still only a Grand Knight, but if he were to break through to an Earth Knight, he might affect the entire training ground. And if he were to become a Sky Knight, the impact could be even more dramatic.

At the center of the frost, Thor let out a long exhale.

As his breathing steadied, he sensed the growth of life energy within him, a faint smile appearing on his face.

At this pace, he estimated he’d reach the mid-stage of Grand Knight in no more than two months.

This was despite the disruptions from recent travels; otherwise, he might have already reached mid-stage.

But he wasn’t in any hurry.

Each steady step forward brought him closer to a clearer path for his future.

He rose and walked to the training ground to announce the day’s results.

Afterward, Thor prepared to return to his room for a wash.

Life at home was undeniably more relaxed, and even the daily intelligence system hadn’t brought any surprises.

Clearly, his earlier suspicions were correct—if he stayed in the castle, his accomplishments would be limited.

Unless he joined the Dressrosa family’s expeditions, his opportunities would pale compared to those in the Northern Province, where vast, untapped potential lay. Most of the Tulip Kingdom’s other provinces had already been fully explored, and even the South Moon Province had been under the kingdom’s control for over a hundred years. There, most resources and opportunities were dominated by powerful nobles. Not even his intelligence system would yield much advantage.

Just as he was considering this, there was a knock on his door.

Thor signaled, and Anna opened the door.

Seeing the visitor, Thor paused.

“Young Master Thor, the lord requests your presence,” said the butler, Charlie, with a respectful bow.

“Very well, I’ll be there shortly!” Thor replied, a bit puzzled but agreeing without delay.

After tidying up, he made his way to Count Engel’s study.

“Come in.”

Even before he knocked, Count Engel’s voice called out.

Thor entered.

“Father, did you need me?” he asked, looking toward the count, who sat before him.

“Yes. I want you to make a trip to Pat City.”

Count Engel nodded and explained his reason for summoning Thor.

“Pat City?” Thor was momentarily surprised, then remembered it was the administrative center of the Frost Moon Province.

It was roughly 1,500 miles from Dressrosa Castle. Even his past self had only faint memories of it; only after breaking through as a formal knight had his memory strengthened enough to recall.

“Yes, Pat City.”

“The Assad family is said to have a Golden Violet. I need to go to the capital, so I can’t join you. Since you seem to know that young one from the Assad family, I’ll send you and Marshall to try and secure it.”

“Understood, Father. When do I leave?”

“Tomorrow. Rest well tonight; I’ll be gathering some resources as well.”

Thor nodded.

Father and son continued discussing various matters, with Count Engel briefing him on the situation in Frost Moon Province and providing tips for the trip.

However, these were minimal.

In Frost Moon Province, while the Dressrosa family wasn’t the absolute pinnacle, they were one of the top-ranked counts. Unlike the Northern Province, this was an established land of fixed interests, so concerns were limited.

Soon, the conversation ended, and Thor took his leave.

In his room, night descended as a familiar, mechanical voice rang out.

As usual.
