FLDI Chapter 129

This entry is part 130 of 211 in the series Fantasy Lord: Start with Daily Intelligence

The remaining onlookers gazed at Thor and his group with excitement, especially fixating on Thor.

Thor appeared no older than twenty, yet he had effortlessly taken down a berserk Blue-Grey Wolf. His skill left them stunned.

“Amazing!”

“This level of power… he’s definitely more than just a newly minted Grand Knight.”

“Right, he must be at the very peak of Grand Knight level.”

“Dressrosa family—is he from that family?”

The crowd murmured, animated with speculation.

Morris, too, was in shock, his gaze on Thor shifting with intense emotions.

“One strike—just one strike!” he thought, marveling at how his younger brother had easily dispatched the wolf that had nearly been a fatal threat to him.

“Thor!”

Instinctively, Morris called out, though he struggled to find words. Thor’s strength had far surpassed his expectations. Morris had assumed Thor was merely a formal knight, but now it was clear Thor had reached the level of a Grand Knight and was even significantly stronger than him.

Just as Morris grappled with his surprise, a cold voice cut through the air.

“Well, gentlemen, wasn’t killing my pet a bit excessive?”

The young noble, Emor, approached them, his eyes laced with anger. The panic he’d shown earlier had completely disappeared.

“Emor, your Blue-Grey Wolf went out of control. We had no choice but to kill it. Do you have a problem with that?” Morris snapped, barely restraining his anger.

As a loyal knight of his family, Morris was familiar with this person—Emor Emerson, one of the most promising scions of the Emerson family. By age twenty-four, he had already broken through to Grand Knight level and was likely to become an Earth Knight in the future. The two had clashed before.

“Morris, what are you talking about? Your provocations caused my wolf to go berserk. It didn’t harm anyone; you could have controlled the situation without killing it, but you chose to end its life.”

Emor’s eyes glinted coldly as he spoke.

“You—” Morris’s face flushed purple with anger, and he was about to lash out.

But at that moment—

“Clomp! Clomp!”

The sound of hurried footsteps echoed as a squad of over twenty knights approached quickly.

With the arrival of the knights and the obvious tension between the two families, even the few remaining onlookers sensed trouble and began to slip away quietly.

Morris, who had been ready to confront Emor, was held back by Thor.

As Thor restrained Morris, the knights reached them.

“What’s going on here?” demanded the knight captain, his gaze shifting to the two rivals and the headless Blue-Grey Wolf lying on the ground.

“Uncle Deghuri, I was just watching the beast fight when these people provoked my pet and recklessly killed it,” Emor quickly explained.

“You scoundrel!”

“Your beast went mad! We had to stop it before it caused casualties around us,” Morris countered, his face changing as he spoke, aware of the seriousness of using force in Pat City.

Thor, on the other hand, remained silent, observing the knight captain and Emor, a look of suspicion forming on his face.

It was as if his suspicion was about to be confirmed.

“Oh? So you admit you used force in Pat City?” Deghuri’s gaze turned cold as he looked at Thor and Morris.

“Captain Deghuri, that’s not how it happened,” Morris began.

“I only need you to answer whether you initiated the use of force in Pat City,” Deghuri interrupted, his words calm but accompanied by a surge of oppressive life energy that spread like an invisible weight.

“An Earth Knight,” Morris muttered, his face paling as he took an involuntary step back.

“Take them,” Deghuri commanded, and several knights moved to advance.

But before they could act, Thor stepped forward, unleashing a powerful surge of life energy.

“Boom!”

The air grew icy, Thor’s life force spreading out to counter Deghuri’s oppressive aura. Although Thor was only at the early Grand Knight level, his life energy, infused with the special nature of ice elements, allowed him to withstand the Earth Knight’s pressure.

Deghuri flinched, momentarily startled by the sudden force. His expression turned wary.

“An unusual life force,” he muttered, both surprised and slightly unnerved. But his expression quickly returned to a hard, cold glare.

“What, do you intend to resist?” Deghuri’s voice grew menacing.

“According to the Kingdom’s Law, Article 32: In cases of provocation by commoners, nobles are entitled to respond with any necessary actions, including but not limited to lethal force.

“Article 35: Any defamation or provocation of a noble permits that noble unrestricted rights to respond.”

Thor’s voice was calm, but the words hung heavily in the air. The next moment, his form flickered, vanishing in an instant.

“Watch out!” Deghuri exclaimed, barely containing his shock. He moved to intervene, but there was distance between him and Emor, while Thor was already close to his target.

Emor’s heart pounded with fear as Deghuri’s warning reached his ears. Instinctively, he drew his knight’s sword.

*Clang!*

As his sword left its scabbard, Thor’s figure appeared before him.

*Boom!*

Thor’s fearsome life energy exploded, colliding with Emor’s blade.

Emor’s life force was already weaker than Thor’s, and caught off-guard, he had no time to respond.

“Ahh!”

With a scream, Emor’s body flew backward, crashing to the ground. Ice spread from his sword to his right hand.

“My hand! My hand!” he shrieked in agony.

“You scoundrel!” Deghuri’s face contorted with rage at the sudden turn of events. Even though he had acted quickly, by the time he reached them, Emor was already down.

An immense burst of life energy radiated from him as he lunged toward Thor.

“Anna!”

Thor called out calmly.

“Understood!” Anna responded, raising her staff. A glow encircled Thor as she began chanting.

A bluish aura enveloped Thor, as Anna’s voice chanted in a low, rhythmic tone:

“Obscured by a cloudy sheen, tempered with untamed ferocity, appear, then dissolve—paralyzing resistance with a frigid sheen. Princess of iron, shattered doll, combine and repel—cover the earth, knowledge of one’s own limits.”

With the spell completed, a second blue aura wrapped around Thor.

*Boom!*

Even with the additional aura, Thor was pushed back by the first impact. But as he staggered, another layer of icy blue energy enveloped him, intensifying the frost around him.

The cold intensified, as Thor’s life force surged.

In this state, he dared to confront an Earth Knight, confident of his advantage.

He couldn’t match an Earth Knight alone, but with Anna’s support, it was a different matter. They shared a bond that amplified their combined strength beyond mere addition.

*Boom!*

A surge of powerful life energy erupted, frost spreading as the temperature around them dropped rapidly.

A layer of ice began to form on the ground, quickly expanding outward.

“A mage!” Deghuri’s expression shifted.

But then his gaze turned cold again.

“A mere mage—you think that with your unique life force, you can stand up to an Earth Knight?”

“Starting a fight in Pat City, injuring a member of the Pat Knights—your Dressrosa family better be ready to pay ten thousand gold coins for your release.”

Deghuri’s voice rang out as he advanced toward Thor.

Frost continued to spread, radiating immense power.

At that moment, another aura was cast onto Thor, amplifying his life force to its peak, almost reaching the threshold of an Earth Knight.

His intense power spread, affecting the surroundings.

Deghuri’s previous confidence wavered as he clashed with Thor. He could feel the piercing cold seeping through his own life energy, almost freezing it solid.

*Boom.*

*Boom.*

The sounds of their collisions echoed, and waves of life energy rippled outward.

Even the distant crowd could feel the energy, their faces filled with apprehension.

Elsewhere in the city, members of the Pat City Knight Brigade, moving swiftly, were alarmed by the disturbance.

“What’s going on?”

“Who dares cause trouble in Pat City?”

In a tavern, a middle-aged man sipping his drink suddenly looked up, sensing the surge. His expression turned to surprise, and in the next instant, his figure vanished, leaving a gold coin on the table.

The area of Pat City descended into chaos.

Many people began to flee.

The overwhelming life energy told them that at least one Earth Knight was involved, and they wanted no part in such a clash.

Only the sound of organized footsteps remained as training knights swiftly converged on the scene.

In the midst of Thor and Deghuri’s battle, the surrounding knights hesitated, unsure how to proceed.

“Detain them!” One knight among the twenty called out.

The knights glanced at each other, then nodded in agreement.

But before they could act, another knight squad appeared.

“Morris, what are you doing here?” The leader of the new squad paused in surprise as he recognized someone in the crowd.

“Brother Ruby!” Morris’s face brightened as he saw him.

“Stand down!” Ruby commanded, his voice stern.

At his command, the Pat City knights halted, exchanging uncertain glances.

“What happened here?” Ruby asked, turning his attention to Morris with a puzzled look.

Morris was about to explain when a knight stepped forward.

“Captain Ruby, they started a fight here in Pat City,” he declared indignantly, but before he could finish—

“Did I ask you to speak?” Ruby’s icy tone cut him off, silencing the knight.

“Morris, explain,” Ruby prompted, his gaze steady.

“Brother Ruby, here’s what happened,” Morris quickly recounted the events.

Listening to Morris’s account, Ruby’s eyes widened with surprise, glancing at Thor and the mage, Anna, who were still locked in battle.

He hadn’t expected that the figure fighting Deghuri was his own cousin and that his cousin’s strength was so formidable—even aided by a mage.

Ruby shook off his surprise, focusing on resolving the situation.

“Detain Emor,” he instructed, and several knights moved forward, with the previous knight making no attempt to interfere.

After giving his orders, Ruby turned back to Morris.

“You’ve been a bit reckless. Let’s go to the city center, no harm in that.”

“Follow my lead, and let me handle the situation,” Ruby added, swiftly organizing a plan.

With matters escalating, his intervention was essential—especially since this was his family involved.

*Boom!*

A surge of life energy burst forth, and Ruby’s figure vanished, reappearing between Thor and Deghuri, intercepting their clash.

With his right hand, he blocked Thor’s knight’s sword, while his foot kicked Deghuri square in the chest.

*Boom!*

Caught off guard, Deghuri’s eyes widened as he was sent hurtling backward.

Ruby’s sudden arrival made Thor tense, almost ready to unleash his power, but upon seeing Deghuri sent flying, he restrained himself.

Despite this, frost crept onto Ruby’s knight’s sword, even spreading to his arm, chills radiating from the icy aura.
