- FLDI Chapter 178
“Boom!”
“Boom… rumble!”
The deafening sound of thunder echoed, as an overwhelming force poured down unrelenting, like a storm of destruction.
However, it only caused an initial impact.
What unfolded was the same scene as yesterday: a vast number of orcs scattered and charged towards the fortifications, surrounding them.
“Kill!”
Brian shouted, and in the next moment, his figure led the charge, rushing forward. Thor, not daring to fall behind, followed closely behind him.
Then came Joz, Isabelle, Aisha, and the other knight squads stationed at the fortifications.
The two sides soon collided with each other.
In the instant of impact, Brian’s brows twitched.
It turned out that it was not two third-tier orc tribes, but just one.
Within it, there were even three third-tier orcs.
The number of second-tier orcs had reached more than thirty.
“Thor!”
Brian called out to Thor.
“Lord Joz, Miss Isabelle, hold off those three third-tier orcs!”
“Be careful of their strength!”
Hearing Brian’s instructions, Thor understood immediately and turned to Joz and Isabelle, his voice low and serious.
“Understood!”
Joz glanced at his sister, and Isabelle nodded in agreement.
“Leave this to us, Thor!”
Joz Anubi said when he heard his sister’s affirmation.
“Thank you!”
Thor nodded, then without hesitation, he and his knights charged towards the terrifying second-tier orc tribe.
They had to deal with these second-tier orcs as quickly as possible, or the losses would be heavy.
“Boom!”
A violent burst of life energy exploded, and a frigid wave of cold spread out from Thor, his power no longer held back. The chilling air expanded in all directions, centered on his feet.
“Reyn, deal with them quickly!”
Thor commanded, taking a step forward, his figure shooting forward like a meteor, plunging into the orc horde.
“Understood!”
Reyn nodded, his own immense life energy erupting in tandem. Thunder crackled around him, and arcs of lightning flickered along his knight’s spear.
In that moment, Reyn held nothing back and unleashed his full strength.
As the two of them unleashed their powers, Steve and Pelos exchanged a glance before also releasing their life energy.
Soon, the twenty knights following Thor also did the same.
Thor’s knight squad moved like a sharp blade, cutting through the orc forces.
Orcs at the peak of the second tier tried to block their path but were quickly frozen by Thor’s ice magic and torn apart by Reyn’s thunderous strikes.
And that was just the second-tier orcs and those below.
“Pfff!”
“Boom!”
“Crack!”
“Bang!”
A series of sounds erupted as Thor and the others charged through the orc lines, unimpeded by any orc.
In just a moment, over five second-tier orcs had been slain.
The ground beneath Thor’s feet was already covered in a layer of frost, with the temperature dropping noticeably.
In the air around him, there were even faint snowflakes drifting down.
It wasn’t very noticeable, but the pervasive chill was unmistakable.
On Reyn’s side, things were even more brutal.
Thunder roared.
Every orc struck by him bore scorch marks across their bodies.
Their strength was no match for the power of the two of them.
But these orcs seemed almost frenzied, continuing to rush forward despite the heavy losses. Their eyes had turned blood-red, and a savage, frantic aura spread across their bodies.
At first, they were just ordinary orcs, but soon, even the second-tier orcs began to change.
When their pupils turned crimson, their strength had clearly increased significantly.
The battlefield was no longer so one-sided.
Thor’s knight spear grew heavier in his hands.
“Boom!”
The spear suddenly pierced through the body of a second-tier orc. With a powerful twist, the orc was flung through the air, landing deep into the orc tribe.
Immediately, several orcs around it exploded, unable to withstand the force.
But the remaining orcs seemed to have gone completely mad.
They showed no fear and continued charging forward recklessly.
Their eyes were blood-red.
With each orc’s death, the blood energy around them surged, making them stronger and more frenzied.
“Boom!”
Thor’s spear once again drove into the body of another second-tier orc, pinning it to the ground.
“Corruption by divine power?”
“Is this it?”
Thor’s brow furrowed as he muttered to himself, his mind involuntarily recalling the contents of the daily reports.
It seemed that the situation had now been confirmed.
In the reports, the first wave of attacks didn’t seem out of the ordinary. It was just information about the orc tribes’ assault. However, the second wave indicated the presence of divine energy tainting the orc tribes.
Thor hadn’t sensed anything unusual at first.
But as the battle wore on, he now clearly felt the difference.
“It seems I need to deal with this quickly!”
“Otherwise, it’s only going to get worse. This is just the beginning.”
Thor muttered to himself, his gaze shifting towards the horizon. In the next moment, his life energy surged once again.
At the same time, the figure of an ice spirit began to slowly materialize beside him.
As the ice spirit took form, the temperature around Thor plummeted drastically.
Snow began to fall around him, the winds picking up.
“Boom!”
The immense life energy surged around Thor, almost transforming into a fierce gale. Holding his knight spear, he now seemed like a battle god amidst the wind and snow.
“Reyn!”
Thor called out.
“Understood!”
Reyn responded, his own life energy now exploding in an even more terrifying manner.
At this moment, neither of them held back.
The speed at which they slaughtered the orcs increased dramatically.
And with that, the number of dead orcs around them kept rising.
The blood energy became more concentrated, and the remaining orcs grew even more frenzied.
Even the three leading third-tier orcs slowly began to develop a crimson hue in their pupils.
Brian, Isabelle, and the large land knight from the Anubi family all sensed something strange.
“Not good!”
“Retreat!”
Isabelle cried out, and in the next instant, without hesitation, her figure retreated rapidly.
As her voice echoed, the other two reacted instantly.
They too fell back.
Just as the three of them withdrew, a low, beast-like roar echoed through the air.
In the next moment, the pupils of the three third-tier orcs suddenly turned blood-red, and a violent, frenzied aura erupted from their bodies.
A blood-red aura swept out, and a dark, malevolent energy rapidly expanded.
Fortunately, the three had retreated in time, and the dark, bloody aura did not touch them.
“Damn it, what is this?”
Brian’s voice was filled with astonishment, and he felt a chill in his heart. The aura carried an ominous sense, one that made his instincts scream in warning.
If they hadn’t instinctively retreated just now, once the corruption set in, the consequences would have been nearly unimaginable.
What was even more alarming to Brian was that the orcs they had previously been suppressing were now clearly much stronger.
While the orcs had likely been at the level of ordinary third-tier warriors before, they now seemed to be nearing the power of fourth-tier ones.
This realization shook Brian to his core.
“Corruption by fallen god’s power!”
“Be careful, their strength should have been amplified.”
“Even if they aren’t quite at fourth-tier, they are probably close to the peak of third-tier now.”
Isabelle’s cold voice rang out as she tightened her grip on her knight’s spear.
“Fallen god’s power?”
Brian was somewhat confused, but he knew now wasn’t the time for questions.
Taking a deep breath, he activated his life force once again.
The battle resumed with even more ferocity.
But things had taken a sharp turn for the worse. The three orcs, which had previously been under control, had now transformed. Their strength had surged to an entirely new level. Except for Isabelle, who was still managing to hold her ground, the other two found it increasingly difficult to keep up.
Especially Brian.
He had only just broken through to the Earth Knight rank.
Facing regular third-tier orcs was manageable, but now, against these peak third-tier orcs, he was clearly at a disadvantage.
Still, Brian knew he had to endure.
If he faltered, and one of the transformed third-tier orcs joined the fray, neither Isabelle nor the other Earth Knight would be able to stop them.
His teeth clenched, and his life force surged again.
But despite his efforts, his injuries began to accumulate, and what made his heart race with fear was the black, ominous energy that began seeping into his wounds.
This “fallen god’s power,” Brian didn’t know exactly what it was, but one thing was clear: if he kept fighting like this, he would be in big trouble.
On the other side, Isabelle and the Anubi family’s Earth Knight were in no better shape.
Isabelle could barely hold her ground. The Anubi family’s knight was even worse off than Brian, with blood-red streaks already spreading across his eyes.
His consciousness was becoming increasingly blurry.
At this rate, it was hard to imagine them holding out, let alone defeating the orcs.
Meanwhile, other knight squads were also beginning to suffer.
Casualties were rising.
Some apprentice knights, their eyes fully turned blood-red, suddenly attacked their own comrades.
“Pfff!”
Crimson blood sprayed out.
A long spear pierced the chest of one knight.
“Enko, what are you doing?”
The voice of disbelief echoed as a knight looked at the spear driven through his chest, staring at his comrade with wide, disbelieving eyes.
This was a companion who had fought side by side with him, a person he trusted more than family.
Yet now, the knight’s spear had pierced his heart.
As life drained from him, his expression was one of confusion.
Then, with a final gasp, he fell.
This scene repeated itself over and over again, plunging the already struggling knight squads into chaos.
“Control them!”
One knight captain, gritting his teeth through the pain in his shoulder—his own shoulder had just been pierced by a knight’s spear—shouted desperately. This was his most loyal protector, but he couldn’t worry about that now. A streak of blood ran from his eye as he urgently barked orders.
At his command, other knights quickly reacted.
They tried to move, but trying to control the out-of-control knights in the middle of battle was no easy feat.
Casualties mounted rapidly.
In contrast, Thor’s side was faring much better.
This time, Thor had brought only formal knights, and even a few great knights. The only apprentice knight, Carter, was left behind at the fortifications, so the blood-red corruption was unlikely to spread to him for now.
At present, no one had lost control.
However, Thor could still sense the growing chaos around him. He felt the source of the disorder as well.
His face grew solemn.
Despite this, his movements didn’t slow for even a moment.
He had already cut through a large number of second-tier orcs, and the orc tribe had been greatly reduced in size.
“Reyn, take over here!”
“Finish this quickly!”
“I’ll go assist Brother Brian!”
Thor glanced around, quickly making a decision.
He needed to deal with this fast. If they kept delaying, even the formal knights would be affected.
He had to leave, even though it might result in some casualties among his forces.
“Understood!”
Reyn nodded and swiftly acknowledged the order.
Thor, without wasting any more time, left the battlefield and charged toward Brian.
The brutal fighting continued to escalate.
If one were to look down from the sky at the entire Autumn Leaf Territory, they would see similar scenes happening at every defensive point.
Masses of orcs were relentlessly assaulting the defenses. Their eyes were blood-red, and an ominous aura was spreading. One knight after another was becoming infected.
If the view were pulled back even farther, one would see that the orc tribes were still sending a large number of orcs toward Autumn Leaf Territory.
One… two… three…
Ten…
A hundred…
Countless orc tribes, their eyes all blood-red, saliva dripping from their mouths, their minds filled with bloodlust and madness, surged forward across the vast plains of the orc territories.
The orcs were coming, and their numbers seemed endless.
