FLDI Chapter 186

This entry is part 187 of 211 in the series Fantasy Lord: Start with Daily Intelligence

Beneath the pitch-black sky, an ominous aura spread out, the power of the laws interweaving as the divine force began to gradually permeate the entire world.

Whoosh!

The illusory waters of the River of the Underworld flowed, seemingly on the verge of crossing the boundary from illusion into reality.

Boom.

The powerful aura emanating from the altar spread out, and the Bloodthirsty Wolf Lord’s figure began to rise, a towering silhouette seemingly stepping out of the illusion and into reality, from the past into the present.

Around the altar, the ominous presence grew even stronger.

It was the aura of the Underworld.

Just arriving at this place could cause one’s life force to be entirely drained.

“Just like this!”

“My lord, the great Anubis, I will welcome your descent.”

The Bloodthirsty Wolf Lord rasped, his voice hoarse, though his form had nearly dissolved into a thick, suffocating black mist. Still, his face shone with an expression of feverish excitement.

Yet, as his fervor and excitement grew, the power of the laws continued to weave together.

In the distance, a dark, deathly kingdom began to materialize in the air.

The kingdom was illusory.

But even so, one could still feel the overwhelming presence of death and dread.

As their gazes locked, it felt as though their very souls were trembling in fear.

The River of the Underworld suddenly solidified, as if it was about to fully descend into the mortal world.

This was the Divine Realm, the realm of the gods. Once the Divine Realm descended, the gods would be fully awakened.

At this moment, only one final step remained for the Divine Realm to be completely realized.

And at that very instant…

A pure, holy light descended from the heavens.

The light surged, instantly tearing through the darkness.

The radiance was immense, standing out vividly against the dark, foreboding sky.

As it fell, the darkness was split, and the ominous aura rapidly dissipated.

From afar, at the city walls:

“Look!”

A voice cried out in astonishment as someone seemed to have noticed something and let out a startled shout.

Soon after, figures from all directions turned their gaze to the sky, witnessing the extraordinary sight unfolding.

“What is this?”

Isabelle murmured softly, her eyes lighting up in surprise.

At that moment, many others began to realize what was happening.

“Holy Domain!”

Thor whispered, his heart pounding with excitement.

The Holy Domain Knights, he had only ever heard of them in rumors—now, he might finally witness them in person.

Though they were still far away, at least he could feel the overwhelming strength of the Holy Domain warriors.

“It’s starting. It should succeed, right?”

Joz murmured to himself, his voice tinged with nervousness.

He wasn’t the only one feeling anxious. Everyone around him, too, was on edge.

After all, until the final moment, no one could say for certain what the outcome would be.

Regardless of their nerves, the scene unfolding in the distance remained unaffected.

The holy light bathed the entire sky, and the dark, ominous presence continued to fade. The once-stable illusory vision now flickered again.

“Damned!”

“Humans, how dare you stop the great Anubis from descending!”

An angry voice rang out, the Bloodthirsty Wolf Lord’s maddened cries echoing from the black mist.

At the same time, the mist surged, and one after another, the Bloodthirsty Wolves emerged from it.

Howl!

The Bloodthirsty Wolves growled, their crimson eyes fixed on the source of the holy light.

“Anubis is not great.”

“He’s just a mere low-tier god.”

The old man chuckled lightly. Within the radiant holy light, his figure gradually became clearer. The knight’s lance in his hand radiated with intense holy light, causing the dark, ominous energy around him to dissipate.

The knight’s sword he wielded was a weapon he had obtained from an ancient ruin, a divine weapon said to hold the power of lesser angels.

This was the perfect weapon for battling against a god of death, ominous and sinister in nature.

Even in the presence of a divine awakening, the old man felt no suppression; in fact, the ominous and eerie forces around him seemed to fear him—or rather, they feared the knight’s lance in his hand.

“Damn humans, how dare you insult the great Anubis! You shall perish, and your soul will sink forever into the River of the Underworld.”

“Kill him, let his flesh be sacrificed to the great Anubis! The flesh of a Holy Domain warrior will surely bring joy to the great Anubis!”

The voice of the Bloodthirsty Wolf Lord rang out.

With his words, the surrounding black mist began to churn violently.

As the mist and ominous energy swirled, more and more Bloodthirsty Wolves emerged from the mist, their bloodshot eyes locking onto the old man.

They exuded bloodlust and savagery.

“Divine power corrupting?”

“Can it really reach this level already?”

The old man muttered, his expression growing solemn.

He tightened his grip on the knight’s lance.

And just at that moment…

The sky was torn apart once more.

Nine beams of light fell from the heavens.

A terrifying aura exploded outward, like the rise of a blazing sun.

The next moment—

Boom.

Rumble!

The immense roar reverberated through the air, and the entire altar began to sway violently. The once-solid River of the Underworld projection that had been suspended in midair began to blur, and the laws inscribed into the fabric of the world began to tremble, even the eerie Divine Realm began to quake.

“Damn it, damn it all!”

“You foolish humans deserve to die!”

The violently shaking altar, along with the turmoil in the heavens and earth, brought a moment of panic and deeper anger to the Bloodthirsty Wolf Lord.

In his fury…

The black mist surged again.

More Bloodthirsty Wolves emerged, charging directly toward the figures that had descended.

“It seems this will be troublesome.”

“The divine power is nearly halfway here now.”

A voice chuckled lightly, and from within the nine beams of light, a figure stepped forward. His voice rang out slowly.

“Let’s finish this quickly.”

“Otherwise, that Anubis won’t be able to sit still.”

As the first figure spoke and emerged, more followed suit. Soon, the third, fourth, and fifth figures stepped out.

In the enormous light, ten Holy Domain Knights stood above the sky.

The aura of the Holy Domain spread out. Even with only their raw power, the surrounding ominous energy began to collapse.

Of course, the speed at which the ominous forces collapsed was nowhere near enough to stop the altar’s ritual.

After all, the ominous forces continued to spread at a far faster rate than the Holy Domain knights could counter.

Nevertheless, the appearance of the ten knights sent shockwaves through the divine ritual.

At the center of the altar, within the black mist, the Bloodthirsty Wolf Lord’s face twisted with madness and brutality, his eyes filled with boundless rage.

His frenzied thoughts urged him to tear these damned humans apart.

In his madness…

The black mist swirled violently.

One.

Two.

Twenty.

Thirty.

The sky became covered with a mass of Bloodthirsty Wolves, their numbers so dense that even the most powerful noble heirs on the ramparts could feel a chill run down their spines.

Thor could even sense Isabelle’s breath becoming heavier.

Her pupils flickered with a hint of anxiety.

“So terrifying!”

Aisha muttered to herself, fear flickering in her own eyes.

And she wasn’t the only one reacting this way.

Seeing this scene, even the Earth Knights couldn’t help but feel a shiver down their spines.

Because, even from a considerable distance, they could feel the terrifying aura emanating from each of the Bloodthirsty Wolves.

Fourth-tier.

No, this wasn’t the power of a Fourth-tier Bloodthirsty Wolf.

Fifth-tier.

Only Fifth-tier Bloodthirsty Wolves could possess an aura so terrifying that even from thousands of meters away, it still caused a deep chill.

The mere thought of a Fifth-tier creature was enough to make one’s scalp tingle.

What’s worse, there weren’t just one or two of them in the sky ahead; the entire heavens were filled with them, densely covering the sky.

In comparison, the ten beams of light seemed significantly dimmer.

“Can those lords handle it?”

Someone opened their mouth instinctively, asking the question.

But no one answered, nor did anyone speak.

Even they weren’t sure whether it could be handled.

Only Thor’s eyes flickered as he fixed his gaze in the distance.

Among those present, only he knew the situation could be resolved.

But knowing this, seeing the scene unfold, Thor couldn’t help but feel a surge of curiosity. How would these Holy Domain knights deal with so many Fifth-tier Bloodthirsty Wolves?

Even from this initial observation, the number of Bloodthirsty Wolves had likely already exceeded forty or fifty.

And they were still increasing.

In comparison, though Thor couldn’t quite make out how many Holy Domain warriors were there, it was obvious there weren’t many.

“Thor!”

Brian instinctively called out, his eyes turning toward Thor. Even as an Earth Knight, he couldn’t help but feel his palms sweat in nervousness.

“Don’t worry, the kingdom will handle it.”

Thor spoke softly.

Then he fell silent.

Upon hearing Thor’s words, for some reason, Brian, along with Isabelle and Joz, who were also beginning to feel anxious, found their hearts calming slightly.

Isabelle even stole a glance at Thor before exhaling a long breath.

As their gazes gathered together, far in the distance, above the heavens, the battle had already begun.

“Indeed!”

“Let’s see who kills more.”

“The power of a lower-tier god, it will be interesting to feel it firsthand.”

As these words mixed in the air, powerful bursts of life force erupted.

The ten Holy Domain knights, at this moment, held nothing back. Their target was the Bloodthirsty Wolves charging out of the black mist.

Compared to regular Bloodthirsty Wolves, these ones, imbued with divine energy, were undoubtedly far stronger.

Each one carried an overwhelmingly ominous aura.

And even if they were smashed, the surrounding ominous energy would quickly gather and form again.

What’s worse, as this ominous energy spread, the number of Bloodthirsty Wolves kept increasing.

Soon, the entire sky was covered.

They quickly realized that while regular Bloodthirsty Wolves were Fourth-tier, the ones infused with divine energy had now reached Fifth-tier.

Even Holy Domain warriors had to begin taking extra care.

But fortunately, once one breaks through to the Holy Domain, everything changes.

A knight’s training—like the Earth Knights—has a significant threshold, and the same applies to the Holy Domain.

Once they step into the Holy Domain, a knight forms their own domain. It doesn’t matter if they face Fifth-tier beasts or even Fifth-tier peak creatures—Holy Domain knights from the human race have the means to deal with them.

At this moment, although these Fifth-tier Bloodthirsty Wolves were infused with divine energy, they still only possessed the strength of early Fifth-tier beings, aside from their immortality trait.

The ten knights had no trouble dealing with them.

As their domains spread, many of the Bloodthirsty Wolves were quickly suppressed and then shredded into black mist.

And as large numbers of Bloodthirsty Wolves were torn apart, the surrounding ominous energy began to thin out, even though it still gathered once more.

The previously turbulent power of the laws started to become more and more illusory.

“Damn it!”

“Humans, you will all die!”

An angry voice rang out once more, but it felt more like a powerless roar.

In the span of only a short time, the ten Holy Domain knights had already shredded most of the Bloodthirsty Wolves. The spreading blackness and ominousness around them had, it seemed, already come to a halt.

Even at the very center, the ominous black mist appeared to be thinning.

“Divine power, truly strange.”

An elderly man couldn’t help but murmur, his gaze sweeping over the Bloodthirsty Wolves that had been turned back into black mist.

Without pausing his movements, his right hand swept out and chopped down on a Bloodthirsty Wolf that had just lunged at him, watching as it, too, transformed into black mist.

“This is divine power, naturally it’s wondrous.”

A voice beside him chuckled, shaking his head.

“True enough!”

“Hurry up and act. We need to eliminate these things within twenty breaths, or we won’t be able to stop the divine descent.”

The words were mixed with urgency.

The ten knights held nothing back, and their powerful auras surged through the sky.

In the next moment, the entire blackness was torn apart.

The ominous presence collapsed immediately, and the brilliance of the Holy Domain illuminated the entire sky.

At this moment, the power of the Holy Domain completely enveloped everything around them.

At the very center, a figure’s knight’s lance erupted with an intensely pure and holy force. This power rapidly dissolved the ominous aura that had already been torn apart.
