Chapter 19: Heading to the Territory

The water splashed gently as it flowed. The girl’s movements were awkward, her trembling hands barely brushing against his skin, and her flushed cheeks extended down to her neck, showing her nervousness.

In the wooden tub, the 18-year-old boy was lost in thought.

Various ideas crossed his mind.

After a moment, a smile appeared on his face.

As a modern man, forcing himself on a medieval girl would be a ridiculous idea. There were plenty of better options.

Glancing at the girl, who seemed to be struggling to keep her composure, Thor chuckled softly.

“That’s enough!”

“You can leave now.”

Thor’s words caught the girl off guard, and she instinctively responded with a surprised gasp.

As the water splashed, Thor stood up abruptly.

“Ah!”

Startled, the girl let out a small scream and rushed out of the room.

“Sophia, Karin, you can come in now,” Thor called out.

The two other personal maids quickly entered.

With their help, Thor dressed and then left the room.

Still, Anna couldn’t help but blush as she glanced at Thor, avoiding eye contact.

Thor smiled, but didn’t say anything, instead heading to his study.

He planned to depart for his territory the next day, and tonight he needed to finalize his plans.

At the same time, he was curious to see if the daily intelligence system would provide any new insights at midnight.

As night fell, Thor busied himself with preparations in the study.

His three maids attended to him, while Anna occasionally stole glances at him, her thoughts running wild. After a few moments, she managed to calm herself down.

Yet her cheeks still retained a hint of blush, as her mind wandered back to the earlier scene—Thor’s strong body, bronzed skin, and the overwhelming masculine presence.

The more she thought about it, the more her face flushed again.

“Anna, you can’t think like this!” she scolded herself silently.

“You still need to escape!”

“Yes, Anna, you need to get away!”

Despite her internal pep talk, her emotions stirred in ways she didn’t fully understand.

Thor, of course, was oblivious to all this.

As time passed, midnight finally arrived, and with it, the daily intelligence system refreshed.

“Buzz!”

A ripple spread through the air, and lines of text appeared before Thor’s eyes.

He scanned the information carefully.

Once he had read through it all, Thor returned to his room and went to sleep.

Night passed, and a new day dawned.

Early in the morning, Thor instructed Steve to go into town to buy supplies.

Building a territory required more than just manpower. Seeds, farming tools, food—everything was needed.

However, it became clear that in the Northern Province, prices for everything were significantly higher. Slaves were priced ten times higher, and other goods were easily three times as expensive.

If it weren’t for the kingdom’s laws, Thor might have considered returning to Frostmoon Province to buy supplies and bring them back.

But that wasn’t an option.

Even Count Engel Dressrosa hadn’t chosen that route, so it was clear it wasn’t feasible.

With no other choice, Thor had to accept the high prices.

By dusk, the group was ready to depart.

Their destination: Maine Valley.

Compared to their arrival in Loren City, the scale of their journey had doubled.

With the addition of 500 serfs, the total number of people and animals neared a thousand, and with all the supplies they brought, their convoy stretched over a kilometer long.

They were highly visible.

But with hundreds of fully armed knights, no one dared to make any trouble.

Their journey was peaceful.

Even when they encountered some wild beasts, the creatures sensed the strength of the group and retreated.

The only exception was a boar beast that charged, but it was swiftly dealt with by the knight squad.

After ten days of travel, they finally arrived at their destination.

Maine Valley lay in the northernmost part of the Northern Province.

Despite its proximity to the colder northern regions, the climate here was relatively mild, thanks to the influence of the Maine River.

The river had made the soil rich and fertile, with lush grass growing everywhere.

As the morning sun bathed the land and a gentle breeze brushed against their faces, everyone felt a sense of comfort.

When they reached the vast plains of the valley, Thor couldn’t help but feel a surge of satisfaction.

The massive expanse of land, if fully developed, could easily support tens of thousands of people.

It was a prime location.

Thor had been a bit nervous about his choice. After all, he had only seen a rough map and wasn’t sure what to expect.

But now that he saw it in person, it was clear his decision had been the right one.

“Steve!”

“Yes, Sir!” Steve responded promptly, stepping forward.

“Gather all the serfs together,” Thor instructed, his thoughts becoming more certain with each passing moment.

“Yes, Sir!” Steve nodded and quickly set to work.

“Let’s go for a walk, Raine,” Thor said, gesturing for Raine to join him as they began to walk through the valley.

“Yes, Sir!” Raine replied eagerly, now a fully-fledged knight.

As Thor had predicted, Raine had officially broken through to the rank of knight just the day before they reached the valley.

His talent was nothing short of astounding.

But Thor had grown used to it by now.

The stronger Raine became, the more it benefited Thor.

With sunlight filtering through the trees, the two strolled through the valley.

After about an hour, Thor had thoroughly surveyed the area.

The situation was even better than he had imagined.

He didn’t need to immediately construct water management systems.

The areas affected by potential flooding were limited to the land directly adjacent to the Maine River, while the outer plains were vast and untouched, making them perfect for initial development.

The soil was dark and rich, clearly fertile.

Even with just basic farming, they could expect a good harvest next year.

“Sir!”

“The serfs have been gathered,” Steve reported, returning to Thor.

“Good. Have them start by fencing off this area,” Thor said, pointing to the surrounding land.

“Yes, Sir!” Steve nodded and quickly relayed the orders.
