- FLDI Chapter 207
“Come in!”
Thor’s voice rang out, and the door quickly swung open. A knight hurriedly walked in.
“What’s going on?”
Seeing the knight’s urgent pace, Thor frowned, a look of confusion on his face.
“Sir, Lord Babruce’s knights request an audience. They say something major has happened in the territory.”
The knight spoke respectfully.
“What?”
At the knight’s words, both Thor and Babruce were taken aback.
“Tell him to come here immediately!”
Thor couldn’t help but command.
“Yes, Sir!”
The knight gave a respectful nod and quickly exited.
Not long after, a weary-looking knight was ushered in.
“Sir, urgent news from outside the territory. A knight squad has launched an attack on the large iron mine located on the western side of the territory.”
His voice was hoarse, and he hurriedly explained the situation.
“What?”
“The iron mine was attacked?!”
Upon hearing the news, Babruce’s face immediately changed.
“Dammit!”
“Those bastards, they clearly couldn’t hold back any longer. Babruce, I’ll go with you. Let’s see who dares to be so bold.”
Thor’s voice was filled with anger, and he immediately stood up, about to head for the door.
But Babruce stopped him.
“Babruce?”
Thor looked at his friend in confusion.
“Thor, you can’t leave. This time, the attackers may not just be this knight squad. If you leave, several of our resource points could be affected.”
“I’ll go check things out first, then decide on the next steps.”
Babruce spoke seriously.
Though he too was anxious and angry, his mind was clear. He understood the entire western region’s situation very well.
If Thor went with him, it might not solve the problem and could instead leave the resource points under Thor’s control vulnerable to attack.
It was better for him to go alone first and gather more accurate information before acting.
“This…”
Hearing Babruce’s words, Thor hesitated, his expression shifting.
“Alright, Thor, I’ll go back first.”
“Wait for my report!”
Babruce spoke, then without further hesitation, swiftly left the study.
Soon, Babruce’s figure disappeared from Thor’s territory.
As he rushed back, a battle had already erupted at the large iron mine on the western side of Babruce’s territory.
After assessing the situation, Lyan Water had finally decided to take action today, targeting this very iron mine.
If he could capture this large mine, he would be able to use it as a base, eventually annexing the surrounding three ore-producing areas and even Babruce’s territory.
From there, he would expand outward.
He believed that in no time, he would become the undisputed, powerful lord of the entire Northern Province.
Beneath the mine, Lyan Water could already see the bright future ahead.
As for the current battle, he didn’t even consider it a threat.
The entire mine was only protected by a single Grand Knight and a dozen or so official knights. The only reason it was holding up was because he wanted to use these knights to hone his own squad.
Otherwise, the battle would have been over long ago.
“Liverpool!“
“Alright, game over. Go deal with them.”
Lyan Water’s words rang out as he glanced at a nearby Earth Knight.
“Yes, Young Master Lyan!”
The Earth Knight responded respectfully and began to move forward.
But at that moment—
“Watch out!”
A familiar voice suddenly shouted from behind. Before Lyan Water could react, he felt a figure appear in front of him.
As he was still in shock, a terrifying bolt of lightning suddenly exploded, rumbling through the air and quickly spreading through his knight squad.
Boom!
Boom! Boom!
It wasn’t until this moment that a series of explosions echoed from the distance.
The terrifying lightning ravaged the area, and with the power of a third-tier magic core, the Magic Crystal Cannon’s might had reached a whole new level.
The overwhelming pressure of the magic spread throughout the surroundings, and the terrifying energy intertwined relentlessly.
Even the Grand Knights were unable to withstand the sheer force.
Fortunately, a figure protected Lyan Water with a powerful life-force shield, preventing him from taking heavy damage in his stunned state.
However, while Lyan Water was safe, the two other Earth Knights weren’t so lucky.
The lightning power exploded right next to them. Even as Earth Knights, they were completely unprepared and were instantly struck by the full force of the thunder.
Pff! Pff!
Blood spurted from their bodies as they were hurled into the air.
In midair, they tried desperately to stabilize themselves, but just as they thought they might regain control, more bolts of lightning screamed past them.
Boom!
The ground ahead turned into a sea of lightning.
The knights of Lyan Water’s squad were quickly slaughtered. Even the Grand Knights were in danger of being torn apart, and as for the Earth Knights…
The two Earth Knights who had managed to regain their balance amid the smoke and thunder looked incredibly disheveled. Their clothes were shredded, and their bodies were marked with the burns left by the lightning.
Both were heavily injured.
The only fortunate ones were the two figures at the very center of the storm.
“Magic Crystal Cannon?”
“Who did this?”
Lyan Water stepped forward slowly, his face darkened as he stared into the distance. His eyes were ablaze with fury.
Seeing the heavy losses suffered by his knight squad, his heart bled.
The strength of his squad, his foundation for taking over the Northern Province, had just lost over a third in an instant.
And it was all gone in one fell swoop.
At this moment, he truly wanted to kill someone.
Of course, compared to Lyan Water’s fury, the Grand Knight and the dozen official knights at the iron mine sighed in relief, despite still being in shock.
They had already been on the verge of despair, some even feeling they couldn’t hold out any longer.
But they hadn’t expected that, in such a dire situation, an unexpected turn of events would save them.
“Who’s there?”
The Grand Knight mumbled to himself, his expression filled with confusion.
The others were the same.
Just moments ago, they had been ready to give up.
Especially the Grand Knight, who earned barely a thousand gold coins a year—he had no intention of risking his life for Thor or the Eagle Trading Guild.
If things were to go south, he’d definitely run.
But to their surprise, something unexpected had happened.
The other knights felt the same way.
And compared to their relief, Lyan Water and most of his knight squad were still stunned and bewildered.
The sudden attack…
The terrifying lightning strike had caught everyone off guard.
The Magic Crystal Cannon, powered by the third-tier magic core, was far more powerful than a second-tier one.
For a knight squad that was unprepared, it was nothing short of devastating.
In just that one moment, a third of the squad was wiped out.
The remaining knights, many of them still injured, could only struggle to regroup.
More crucially, a terrifying surge of energy was gathering once again in the distance.
It was clear that the second wave of the attack was about to arrive.
With the current strength on display, a few more rounds like this, and the knight forces led by Lyan Water would likely be reduced by ninety percent.
“Manchester!”
Lyan Water’s voice rang out.
“Understood!”
A hoarse voice responded, and in the next moment, the figure beside him moved instantly.
His figure vanished in an instant.
The terrifying life force of a peak Earth Knight exploded, and a powerful aura locked onto the distant area.
And in the distance…
It was none other than Thor and his group.
The moment Lyan Water made his move, Thor did as well.
He hadn’t attacked earlier on purpose—he was waiting for Lyan Water to act first.
Although order in the Northern Province had nearly collapsed by now, as a noble, Thor still had to maintain his dignity.
He could not just kill everyone outright, as that would provoke public outrage. Negotiations would inevitably follow.
Who made the first move—this was something that could be discussed at the negotiation table, and would give him more leverage.
“Coming?”
In the dense forest, feeling the rapidly approaching aura from a distance, Thor muttered to himself, a faint smile forming at the corner of his mouth.
“Uncle Michael!”
Thor looked at Michael and spoke.
“Understood!”
Michael nodded, and in the next moment, his figure vanished from sight.
Not long after, a fierce battle erupted in the nearby forest.
The clash between two peak Earth Knights was so violent that a large number of trees from the surrounding forest came crashing down.
At the same time, the sound of life force colliding echoed through the air.
Boom!
Boom! Boom!
As the figure was blocked, the second wave of energy for the Magic Crystal Cannon had already been fully charged.
A series of deafening booms followed as the terrifying lightning once again covered the area.
In the distance…
Lyan Water, who had previously been dark and brooding, suddenly changed expression.
“Dammit, how could this happen?”
His words came out, and in the next instant, his life force surged out uncontrollably.
Just as his life force erupted…
The lightning power once again spread across the area.
This time, though the range of the attack wasn’t as large as before, it still covered most of the knight squad Lyan Water had brought with him.
Before their eyes, everything turned into a blinding white.
In the midst of this blinding light, some knights felt their bodies being repeatedly struck, while others felt as though their bodies were being torn apart in an instant.
There were even those who caught the faint scent of burning flesh.
When the thunderous energy gradually dissipated, the number of fallen knights was not as many as last time.
The two Earth Knights, in particular, had not suffered further injuries.
But the casualties among the lower-ranked official knights were still substantial.
Many were lying on the ground, wailing in pain.
Severed limbs, shredded flesh, and charred bodies littered the entire area.
The surroundings seemed to have transformed into a purgatory. And looking at this scene, Lyan Water’s face grew even darker, filled with rage.
“Liverpool, Feren!”
A hoarse voice called out, and Lyan Water’s eyes blazed with bloodshot fury. In the next moment, his figure surged forward, sword in hand, charging toward the Magic Crystal Cannon’s location.
The two Earth Knights behind him, who had been hit by the Magic Crystal Cannon’s shockwave, exchanged a glance, their hearts pounding with fear. But they too drew their swords and followed.
The Earth Knights were incredibly fast. In the blink of an eye, they had covered hundreds of meters.
Lyan Water quickly spotted Thor and his group.
The powerful vision of the Earth Knights allowed them to clearly see the eagle insignia on Thor’s chest.
“Dresrosa!“
A roar erupted, and in the next moment, fury consumed Lyan Water’s mind.
The terrifying life force surrounding him erupted once again, reaching a level that felt like it was approaching an entirely new threshold.
But before he could close the distance between them…
In the next moment, three figures appeared directly in his path.
Chessier, Rachos, and Joz—the two Earth Knights from their respective territories—had chosen this moment to act.
As for Thor, Lyan, and Marshall, they made no move.
Though Thor had mobilized almost ninety percent of his strength for this confrontation, he had no intention of using it all at once.
For this round, he had decided to let Michael, a peak Earth Knight; Chessier, a later-stage Earth Knight; another mid-level Earth Knight; and a few more of his knights take action, keeping others in reserve.
This level of power was already formidable enough to strike a strong, yet not overwhelming, intimidation into the new territorial lords.
Thor didn’t want to scare them all away at once. Otherwise, if the three powerful marquis heirs arrived, he would be facing even bigger trouble.
If they formed an alliance, he might not even be able to deal with them.
The best strategy was the one Michael had described earlier—use this opportunity to clear out the main threat first.
Then, even if the three marquis heirs came, Thor would be better prepared to handle the situation.
Boom!
Boom! Boom!
The battle erupted, and the force of the life energies surged.
The powerful auras spread through the heavens and earth.
In the distance, massive rocks crumbled, and the forest shook. Ahead of them, Lyan Water and the two Earth Knights he led were locked in a fierce battle with Chessier and the other knights.
Meanwhile, the Magic Crystal Cannon in front of Thor began gathering power once more.
Thor stood silently in front of the cannon, observing the scene with an expression of utter calm.
