Chapter 26: New Intelligence Report
The Tulip Kingdom was home to countless nobles, though most were barons or viscounts. Nobles who attained the rank of earl were considered high-ranking within the kingdom. As a newly established earl family, the Dresrosa family naturally had its share of enemies.
However, none of this concerned Thor too much.
In the Frostmoon Province, he might have to be cautious. But in the chaotic Northern Province, with his current strength, as long as he didn’t cross paths with the marquis of the province, he had little to worry about from other nobles.
With nearly forty full knights and over a hundred apprentice knights under his command, Thor’s forces wouldn’t necessarily dominate the Northern Province, but they certainly surpassed 70% of the lords in the region. If Steve managed to break through to the rank of great knight, Thor’s strength would exceed 90% of the pioneering lords, even rivaling some titled nobles.
And beyond that, lying unconscious in his territory was a figure who was at least a peak earth knight, possibly even a sky knight.
Thor had no reason to fear.
As the whispers of the crowd reached his ears, Thor led his knights into Lorren City.
He quickly found the place where he had settled during his previous visit.
Just like a month ago, he and his knights set up camp there once again.
The sun had already set, and nightfall was approaching.
Whether it was buying serfs or gathering supplies, it was clear that nothing could be done today, so they would have to wait until tomorrow.
Thor wasn’t in any hurry and simply made himself comfortable.
As night fell and the early hours of the morning arrived, the daily intelligence system updated as expected.
“Buzz!”
**[Daily Intelligence Update]**
**[1: Fifty miles from your territory, there is a colony of timid goblins. This group controls a large iron mine.]**
**[2: In seven days, a herd of unicorns will pass through the upper reaches of the Maine Valley. The unicorn leader has reached the peak of the second tier.]**
**[3: Three miles to the left of Eagle Ridge, there is a colony of ground squirrels.]**
**[4: A hundred miles to the right, a void dragon has left its nest, now occupied by a group of earth dragons. The hoard of treasures it collected remains there.]**
**[5: A thousand miles from Lorren City…]**
**[6: Tomorrow, on the west side of Lorren City, an old man will be selling a treasure map, which is actually a trap set by the Hurricane Bandits.]**
**[7: Racios Assad is secretly smuggling a batch of wildfire oil from the Southern Moon Province through his shop. To avoid detection, he is looking for a buyer. By tomorrow night, he will have found one and made a considerable profit.**
As the intelligence appeared, Thor scanned through it.
Most of the information was a repeat of what he had already seen, but a few new details caught his attention.
For instance, the sixth item amused him—he hadn’t expected this world to have its own version of a scam.
However, his interest quickly moved to the seventh item.
“Wildfire oil!”
Muttering to himself, Thor’s eyes lit up.
Before coming to the Northern Province, Thor had learned a great deal about this world.
Wildfire oil was a highly valuable strategic resource. Produced from magma deep underground, it could only be safely extracted in the Southern Moon Province. Its intense burning properties made it similar to petroleum from Thor’s previous life, though it was even more flammable.
Because of its volatility, wildfire oil was an important strategic material, often difficult for even nobles to acquire.
Thor hadn’t expected to find wildfire oil here, let alone learn of someone smuggling it.
This revelation excited him.
Having wildfire oil would make his plans for the iron mine go much smoother.
“Racios Assad…”
“The Assad family, huh?”
Thor frowned slightly, thinking deeply.
He remembered the Assad family well. Like the Dresrosa family, they too were an earl family.
In fact, their status was arguably higher than that of the Dresrosa family.
The Assad family had a legacy spanning nearly 700 years, and they were known to have at least five earth knights, whereas the Dresrosa family only had two.
However, this wasn’t the most important factor.
The real issue was that there was some tension between the Assad and Dresrosa families, though they weren’t outright enemies.
Still, trying to buy wildfire oil from someone in the Assad family wouldn’t be easy. Racios Assad might not be willing to sell to Thor.
“Raine!” Thor called out.
Within moments, Raine quickly entered the room, having evidently been standing guard nearby even late into the night.
“Tomorrow, I need you to gather information on Racios Assad as quickly as possible.”
Thor gave the order.
“Yes, my lord!” Raine responded immediately, bowing respectfully.
After issuing the command, Thor settled his thoughts and began his training.
His talent was admittedly not exceptional. Despite having been on this journey for quite some time, Raine had already broken through to become a full knight, while Thor remained stuck at the mid-stage of apprentice knight.
He wasn’t even close to becoming a full knight, and reaching the late stage of apprenticeship still seemed a distant goal.
But this didn’t bother him too much. His talent had always been mediocre, and while the life fruit and swordfish essence he consumed had helped somewhat, he was still far behind someone as gifted as Raine.
In fact, according to the intelligence system, Raine was destined to become a sky knight.
Raine’s talent far surpassed that of Thor’s father, Count Engel Dresrosa. In fact, the gap in talent was likely significant.
Becoming a sky knight didn’t mean Raine had reached his limit—far from it.
Thor knew that even among sky knights, some weren’t as talented as Raine.
As for himself, he would leave those lofty ambitions to others.
Still, he wasn’t worried.
In this world, strength was everything, but with his daily intelligence system, Thor was confident that he would eventually catch up. There was no need to rush.
Progress would come in time.
Night passed, and the morning sun bathed the city in light.
Early in the morning, Raine set off to gather information on Racios Assad, just as Thor had instructed.
By midday, Raine had returned.
“How did it go?” Thor asked as Raine re-entered the room.
“My lord, I’ve found the information you requested!” Raine began. “Racios Assad is the ninth son of the current head of the Assad family. He’s not highly regarded and seems to have come to Lorren City for business. He currently runs a small shop.”
Raine relayed everything he had learned throughout the morning.
Thor listened carefully, and after a moment, a smile spread across his face.
“Let’s go pay a visit to this Racios Assad,” Thor said with a pleasant tone as he stood up.
“Yes, my lord!” Raine responded promptly.
