Chapter 3: Consuming the Life Fruit and Becoming an Apprentice Knight
Thoughts swirled in Thor’s mind.
Various ideas intertwined.
Finally, Thor let out a small chuckle. Without any hesitation, he stuffed the Life Fruit into his mouth.
With one bite, the fruit’s flesh dissolved into a warm current that spread throughout his entire body.
In the next moment, Thor felt an intense heat building up inside him, while the faint life force within him began to stir rapidly.
The life force contained within the Life Fruit was immense. As the main ingredient in high-grade Life Elixirs, the life force it held could even give an Earth Knight a chance to advance to Sky Knight. Such vast life force was like an ocean to someone who had not yet even become an apprentice knight.
Fortunately, the life force in the Life Fruit was gentle.
It wouldn’t cause his body to explode from the overwhelming energy.
Even if the excess life force couldn’t be absorbed, it would quickly fuse into Thor’s muscles and flesh, laying a solid foundation for his future strength.
Still, the overwhelming heat made it almost unbearable.
Sweat dripped in large droplets from his body.
Thor’s body felt like it was being inflated, the discomfort spreading intensely.
Gritting his teeth, Thor quickly swallowed the rest of the fruit in just a few bites, then sat cross-legged on the floor.
Forcing himself to focus, he began to use the knight’s breathing technique.
The Dressrosa family’s knightly technique, known as the **Eagle Breathing Method**, was one of the most advanced techniques, highly effective in controlling life force.
The moment he started using it, Thor’s mind cleared, and he felt the life force inside him rapidly gather at his chest.
Time passed, second by second.
Thor lost track of how long it had been.
His clothes, soaked with sweat, eventually dried out.
As the blood-red moon began to rise in the night sky, Thor suddenly opened his eyes.
In that instant, the world felt completely different.
He could see the tiny particles of dust floating in the air and hear the chirping of insects outside the window, sounds he had never been able to detect before.
He could even hear the quiet footsteps of servants walking down the hallway.
At that moment, it wasn’t the world that had changed, but his perception of it.
His five senses had been heightened to an unprecedented level.
Even his body had undergone subtle changes.
If someone could see inside his body, they would notice a small green speck, the size of a grain of rice, floating at the center of his heart. A soft glow radiated from it, slowly dyeing the blood in his heart, which then spread to his limbs.
This blood, now infused with a green glow, was subtly transforming his entire body.
Knight.
This was the extraordinary power of this world.
Only those who had formed a Seed of Life could be called apprentice knights.
The power granted by the Seed of Life was unparalleled. It gradually enhanced every aspect of the body—strength, agility, reflexes, perception—everything.
Every apprentice knight possessed strength that ordinary people couldn’t hope to match.
Even serving under a noble house would grant them a comfortable life.
In his memory, Thor recalled that every apprentice knight in his father’s knightly order earned ten silver coins a month. To put it in perspective, a typical family of three would only need ten silver coins to live for an entire year. The difference was vast.
This was the reason Thor had chosen to consume the Life Fruit.
Perhaps he could have given it to his father and lived out his days as a freeloader.
But that was just a possibility—not a guarantee.
The Dressrosa family was bound by strict rules, and Thor couldn’t be certain his father would bend them for him.
And even if that were possible, was becoming a freeloader really what he wanted after being reborn in this world?
Extraordinary power.
A world full of wonders—what transmigrator didn’t long for something more?
Thor was no exception.
The decision was obvious.
As for his father, with the Daily Information System, Thor believed there would be other opportunities.
A smile crept onto his face.
Thor instinctively clenched his fists.
“Next, it’s time to see my father,” he murmured to himself as he stood up and called for a servant to help him wash and change.
By the time he stepped out of his room, Thor looked completely refreshed, and his entire demeanor had shifted.
Walking through the castle, he caught the attention of several maids, who couldn’t help but glance his way.
After he passed, whispers followed.
“Master Thor seems a bit different today!”
“Yes, he looks more radiant!”
“Master Thor looks much more handsome today!”
Thor’s enhanced hearing, now as sharp as any apprentice knight’s, allowed him to catch the maids’ conversation even after he had walked away.
He wasn’t surprised by their reactions.
Forming the Seed of Life naturally led to noticeable changes in both appearance and demeanor, even to the point where ordinary people could sense it.
If he were to become a full-fledged knight, the transformation would be even more pronounced. Only those who reached the highest levels of knighthood could fully conceal these changes. As an apprentice knight, Thor wasn’t yet capable of that.
But there was no need to hide.
In fact, with only two days left until his coming-of-age ceremony, Thor needed to show his strength to his father, Engel Dressrosa, the lord of this castle.
With confident steps, Thor made his way to the third floor of the castle.
This was the highest point in Dressrosa Castle and where Count Engel Dressrosa spent most of his time.
At this hour, the count was usually reading in his study.
Today was no different.
Engel Dressrosa stood by his bookshelf, flipping through a book titled *A Comprehensive History of the Continent*.
However, no one noticed that the count’s thoughts were far from the pages of the book, drifting somewhere unknown.
“Ninety years already,” he murmured softly, his voice carrying a tinge of regret and deep concern.
After that sigh, the room returned to silence.
Until—
*Knock, knock, knock!*
There was a gentle knock on the door.
Then the voice of the butler, Charlie, spoke from the other side.
“Your Lordship, Master Thor requests to see you.”
The words were soft but brought Engel Dressrosa’s wandering thoughts back to the present.
“Thor?”
“Let him in.”
Engel Dressrosa furrowed his brows slightly. He didn’t pay much attention to this ninth son of his, as Thor had always shown the least potential among his children. Still, after a moment of thought, he agreed to see him.
