Chapter 32: The Slaughter Begins
“Run!”
“The humans are here!”
“My god, how could humans appear here?”
“Could it be that the human knight expansion force has returned?”
“What will happen to our iron mine?”
“God of Goblins, have you abandoned your people?”
“Oh my god!”
Panic spread throughout the cavern.
Even the goblin chieftain was frantically running in circles, filled with fear.
Some goblins might not fear humans, but timid goblins were not among them.
As the lowest rank among goblins, they were at the very bottom of the food chain. To them, humans were the embodiment of nightmares.
But just as panic set in…
**Boom!**
**Rumble!**
The ground above them trembled violently.
Then…
**Boom!**
A massive explosion shook the entire cavern, causing the walls to begin collapsing rapidly.
“Hurry, get out!”
The goblin chieftain’s voice rang out in terror as he rushed out of the collapsing cave, followed by the rest of the timid goblins.
But the moment they emerged, they were greeted by a sea of fire. The intense heat spread rapidly, and the goblins who had just escaped were instantly swallowed by the flames.
Fear and chaos enveloped the entire goblin tribe.
**Boom!**
The goblin chieftain managed to burst out of the flames, only to be met by a flash of sword light slicing through the air toward him.
**Boom!**
The chieftain was stopped mid-flight as the sword’s light slammed into him, sending his body hurtling back into the blazing inferno.
Steve emerged from the fire, charging straight toward the goblin chieftain for the final blow.
Outside, the rest of the two hundred knights were already engaged in a large-scale massacre.
As soon as they stormed the goblin stronghold, the slaughter began.
Under Thor’s command, the knights weren’t just killing—they were pouring wildfire oil continuously.
Within less than fifteen minutes, the entire goblin camp was engulfed in flames.
Thousands of goblins were thrown into chaos and panic, running aimlessly like headless chickens.
Many were engulfed by the flames. Even those who managed to escape were met by the merciless onslaught of the two hundred knights.
Among the two hundred knights, over thirty were full-fledged knights, and there were also dozens of apprentice knights. These extraordinary forces tore through the goblins like wheat being cut, even for the hundred reserve knights, the task was relatively easy.
Thor himself was part of the action.
Life force flowed into his greatsword, making each swing lethal.
Though he couldn’t yet unleash devastating sword beams like Steve, killing goblins was still a simple task for him.
In a short time, Thor had already slain more than ten timid goblins.
The knights around him had killed even more.
In the distance, Steve needed only three strikes to kill the second-tier goblin chieftain. With each subsequent strike, ten or more goblins fell.
The slaughter continued to spread.
Against beasts—especially such weak and cowardly creatures like timid goblins—there was no need for prisoners or slaves. The only goal was to exterminate them.
Flames lit up the sky as countless goblins were slaughtered.
However, this was still a large goblin tribe.
Some of the goblins managed to scatter and flee in various directions.
But that didn’t mean they would escape.
As soon as they broke free from the flames, they were met by Raine leading a hundred knights and 3,500 serfs, whose eyes were now bloodshot with excitement.
Although this group wasn’t as fearsome as Thor’s forces, their sheer numbers made up for it.
As soon as any goblins emerged, the serfs swarmed them like ravenous wolves.
The killing began again.
Under the glow of the flames, the green blood of goblins stained the earth.
The wildfire oil burned intensely, and the scene could be seen for dozens of miles.
Yet no one paid much attention.
In a world of extraordinary forces, anything was possible.
The battle—no, the massacre—lasted an entire day and night.
It wasn’t until the wildfire oil had nearly consumed everything in its path, reducing the area to smoldering ashes, that the slaughter of the timid goblins finally came to an end.
The entire region was now a blackened wasteland. Green blood and the corpses of timid goblins littered the hills and valleys.
After a full day and night of killing, not a single timid goblin had escaped. All had been slaughtered.
The green blood had turned the earth a sickly brownish-green.
At the center of it all, Thor stood, his golden armor now soaked in goblin blood.
Around him, the knights were in similar condition.
In front of them, some serfs were stacking the bodies of slain goblins and pouring wildfire oil over them.
One by one, flames rose as the goblins’ bodies were reduced to ash.
“Raine , Steve, take your men and continue the cleanup. Ensure that no goblins remain.”
“Also, lock down this area. No one is allowed near.”
Thor watched the flames as he swiftly issued orders.
“Yes, my lord!”
“Yes, my lord!”
Steve and Raine responded immediately and began to carry out his instructions.
Once the cleanup was underway, Thor rested briefly before gathering a few knights and some serfs skilled in surveying. Following the directions provided by the daily intelligence system, they made their way to the large iron mine.
This expansion war had been fought for that very iron mine, and Thor wanted to inspect it thoroughly.
The surveying serfs were among those he had purchased during his last trip to Lorren City.
The three of them had cost him thirty gold coins, an expensive but necessary investment.
Thor led the group toward the site.
Soon, they arrived at the location of the large iron mine.
Thor quickly issued orders, and the three serfs began surveying the surrounding area.
Thor waited in anticipation.
Night began to fall as the survey took longer than expected.
Finally, by dusk, the three serfs returned, their faces filled with excitement.
They brought astounding news.
The iron mine spanned several miles, with an estimated reserve of over 50 million pounds of iron ore. This was just a preliminary estimate—it was likely even larger, potentially close to a super-large mine.
Generally, large iron mines had reserves of around 30 million pounds, while 80 million pounds or more would qualify as a super-large mine.
This site was likely just shy of that threshold.
Its value was even higher than Thor had initially expected.
Even Thor couldn’t help but feel his breath quicken.
