Chapter 42: The Construction of the Trade Route

Inside the castle, a grand banquet was underway.

Plates of food were brought to the table, and these dishes left Racios once again astounded.

It wasn’t just the meat of regular animals; there were also cuts from various Tier 1 and Tier 2 magical beasts, each incredibly valuable. As Racios ate, it felt as if he were consuming gold coins, causing him a deep pang of guilt with every bite.

He even felt the urge to speak up several times but ultimately suppressed the impulse.

However, when the banquet ended, Racios couldn’t hold back any longer.

“My friend, thank you for your hospitality. It has been an honor,” he began earnestly. “But if I may be frank, the food we had today could easily be sold for one or two gold coins. For Eagle Ridge, gold coins are of the utmost importance.”

Racios spoke with seriousness.

“No, no, my friend!” Thor responded. “Gold coins are indeed important, but hosting friends is even more important, don’t you agree? Besides, I think there’s something even more valuable and suitable for you than these meals.”

Seeing Racios’ expression and hearing his words, Thor couldn’t help but smile inwardly—everything was going according to plan.

So, without hiding anything further, Thor chuckled and spoke again.

“More valuable?” Racios, who had been about to speak, suddenly widened his eyes and began to breathe more heavily at Thor’s words.

“Raine,” Thor called out to his side. “Bring the items.”

“Yes!” Raine responded swiftly, leaving the room at a quick pace.

Moments later, several knights arrived, each carrying wooden crates.

“What is this?” Racios asked, puzzled by the sight of the crates being brought in.

“Open them, and show my friend,” Thor instructed.

The knights quickly opened the crates, revealing their contents.

At first, Racios was taken aback, but then he found himself unconsciously walking forward.

“This is…” he muttered, running his hand over the objects. In an instant, his eyes widened, and he turned to Thor with astonishment.

“These are finely crafted black iron armors, forged by goblin hands. Even in the Frostmoon Province, each piece is worth more than fifteen silver coins. Here in the Northern Province, I’d say they could easily sell for forty, maybe fifty silver coins each, and there would still be buyers lining up.”

“My friend, what do you think of these?” Thor asked with a smile, his words nearly causing Racios’ heart to stop.

“My friend, you must be joking,” Racios said, trying to suppress the tremble in his voice. He glanced at the black iron armors around him, struggling to believe what he was hearing.

“Joking?” Thor shook his head. “No, this is no joke. I can offer you one hundred sets of these fine black iron armors. And, in addition, I also have a set of silver armor.”

Thor gestured once more.

At his signal, Raine quickly opened the final crate.

When the silver gleam appeared, Racios nearly lost his balance.

If the black iron armor had been enough to stir him, the appearance of the silver armor left his mind blank.

Silver armor—true magical equipment, a strategic resource that could only be found at auction in Loren City of the Northern Province. And now, here it was before his very eyes, with Thor telling him it was his for the taking.

At that moment, Racios’ mind went completely blank.

His discerning eye could immediately tell that these were the finest quality armors.

Whether it was the black iron armor or the silver armor, they were impeccable. Even for the Assad family, acquiring armors of this caliber wasn’t easy, let alone transporting them into the Northern Province.

It was practically impossible.

“So, my friend,” Thor’s voice broke through Racios’ daze, “I promised you I’d help you establish your trade routes, and now it’s time to make good on that promise. With these goods, the local lords will be more than eager to purchase from you.”

Thor’s words finally brought Racios back to reality.

The shock in his eyes lingered, but he quickly composed himself, taking a deep breath before looking at Thor seriously.

“To be honest, this is beyond astonishing. I feel as though I’m dreaming!” Racios said, his voice still tinged with disbelief. “Please, allow me to confirm once more: are you truly offering these to me?”

His words were cautious, and his expression was more tense than ever.

“Of course, it’s real,” Thor replied with a smile. “But you’ll need to offer a reasonable price to take them.”

Hearing Thor’s reaffirmation, Racios couldn’t help but feel elated.

After a brief moment of thought, he quickly responded.

“Of course!” he said eagerly. “For the black iron armor, I can offer thirty silver coins per set—no, fifty silver coins! As for the silver armor, how about five hundred gold coins?”

His words were hurried, his face flushed with excitement.

As Thor had mentioned, if Racios could secure these goods, they would undoubtedly open up the trade routes to the Northern Province. The potential profits were far beyond what mere gold could measure.

He was willing to pay any premium to secure them.

But just as Racios was about to offer more, Thor shook his head.

Seeing this, Racios gritted his teeth, ready to increase his offer, but Thor stopped him with a wave of his hand.

“My friend, you’re being too generous,” Thor said with a smile. “But your offer is too high. I can’t let a friend suffer a loss. How about this: thirty silver coins per set of black iron armor, and I can sell you one hundred sets. As for the silver armor, the  Habs Trading Company sells them for three hundred gold coins, so let’s settle on that price.”

Thor’s lighthearted words left Racios momentarily stunned.

He couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

“Lord Thor, you, you…” Racios stammered, at a loss for words.

“We’re friends. How could I let a friend take a loss?” Thor smiled and shook his head. “This price seems fair, doesn’t it?”

Thor wasn’t being naive. He understood the importance of long-term business relationships.

From his large iron mine, black iron armor could be produced in abundance. Selling everything off at once wouldn’t benefit him; it was better to establish a steady, long-term trade.

At thirty silver coins per set, Racios would profit, and so would Thor.

That was enough.

In fact, Thor planned to use Racios to establish a complete trade route.

In time, that’s when the real gains would come.

This was just the beginning, and there was no need to rush.

“Thank you so much!” Racios finally exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement. “Indeed, we are friends!”

His eyes shone with gratitude as he looked at Thor.
