Chapter 48: Acquiring the Thunderstone

“Sir Colin, are you joking with me?”

The servant’s expression turned cold, and his eyes reflected displeasure as he spoke inside the room.

“The Thunderstone isn’t worth 8,000 gold coins. It’s only worth 3,000, at most 3,000 gold coins,” Colin Emerson said, though his tone was somewhat uncertain.

However, halfway through his statement, he seemed to regain his confidence, speaking more firmly.

But just as the words left his mouth…

*Whoosh!*

An elderly man appeared in the room, exuding an overwhelming aura.

*Bang!*

Colin Emerson’s face turned pale. Even the great knight standing beside him looked alarmed and instinctively tried to move but found himself unable to.

“Sir Colin, the  Habs Trading Company is not a place for you to cause trouble. Not even your father, Count Emerson, has the right to make trouble here.”

“If you can’t pay for the Thunderstone, then please leave. Your deposit has been confiscated, and as a penalty for disrupting the auction, you are required to pay 3,000 gold coins. If you have any objections, you can speak with Count Emerson.”

The elderly man’s voice was calm but firm.

“I have no objections!” Colin Emerson stammered, his face dripping with cold sweat.

“Sir Colin, this is your last warning. The  Habs Trading Company will no longer welcome you if there’s a next time,” the old man said before disappearing as quickly as he had appeared.

As soon as the elder vanished, Colin Emerson collapsed to the floor, beads of sweat pouring from his forehead, his face as pale as death.

The great knight beside him was trembling uncontrollably.

After a few moments, Colin Emerson managed to get to his feet, casting a furious glance toward Thor’s room before quickly leaving the auction.

Shortly afterward, a knock came at Thor’s door.

The servant entered, accompanied by several knights, carrying the Thunderstone.

Thor was momentarily surprised by the scene.

“Sir Thor, we apologize for the earlier unpleasantness. If you are still interested in the Thunderstone, you may have it for 3,000 gold coins,” the servant said with a polite smile.

“Of course, I still want it!” Thor replied.

“Raine!”

Thor, deep in thought, glanced toward the distant room before smiling and signaling to Raine.

Raine quickly stepped forward and paid the 3,000 gold coins.

“We sincerely apologize once again. As a token of appreciation, here is a platinum membership card for the  Habs Trading Company. You will enjoy a 20% discount on future purchases,” the servant said, handing Thor a gleaming card with a smile.

“Thank you,” Thor said, nodding in acknowledgment.

The servant left shortly after.

“Kid, did you know this was going to happen?” Niel Morton asked with a curious smile.

Thor shook his head, smiling without explanation.

Honestly, the turn of events had been a bit of a surprise to him as well.

But he could guess what had happened.

Eight thousand gold coins weren’t easy to come by. It was clear that the Emerson family fool couldn’t afford it, so the  Habs Trading Company had decided to pass the Thunderstone to him instead.

Although he now had the stone, this matter was far from over.

Stealing from him?

What a joke.

He never forgot such things.

Thor’s eyes flickered as he plotted his next move.

The auction continued, but Thor’s interest had waned.

Even when the last three items—three bottles of mid-tier life potions—sold for 2,700, 3,100, and finally 3,800 gold coins, Thor didn’t care too much. Mid-tier life potions were incredibly valuable, capable of nurturing a great knight or even helping one break through to an earth knight. But at the moment, it didn’t concern him.

Thor himself was still only a squire knight, and Raine was far from becoming an earth knight.

As for Steve, although he had recently broken through to become a great knight, he still had a long way to go.

More importantly, Thor was now out of money.

He had initially brought 10,000 gold coins, but after months of spending, his funds were running low.

In this auction alone, he had spent 300 gold coins on slaves and 3,000 on the Thunderstone. Of the remaining 5,000 gold coins, he now had barely over 1,000 left.

He still needed to purchase some supplies before returning to his territory.

He definitely couldn’t afford any mid-tier life potions now, nor even the low-tier ones.

“Time to go!” Thor announced, rising from his seat.

Raine and Niel Morton followed closely behind as they left the room.

As Thor departed, the rest of the crowd also began to trickle out of the auction hall.

Meanwhile, in a luxurious residence, Colin Emerson’s face was filled with rage.

“Sir, we have confirmed that the Thunderstone was handed over to Thor Dresrosa by the  Habs Trading Company,” a knight reported respectfully.

Hearing this, Colin Emerson’s expression darkened even further.

“Good, very good!” he spat. “I want to know exactly where that bastard’s territory is!”

His voice was cold and furious. As a favored member of the Emerson family, Colin had never suffered such a humiliation before.

“Yes, sir!” the knight replied before swiftly leaving.

Learning the location of someone’s territory was not difficult.

Before long, Colin had the information.

“The Maine River Valley… It’s not far at all!”

“Thor Dresrosa!” Colin muttered to himself, a dangerous glint in his eyes.

Meanwhile, Thor also received the information Raine had gathered.

“Falling Leaf Territory, 130 miles away.”

“Two great knights, twenty full knights, and a hundred squires.”

Thor raised an eyebrow at the news.

It turned out this fool was no weakling.

He not only had two great knights but also twenty full knights and a hundred squires under his command.

It was clear that the Emerson family had invested heavily in this idiot.

This was no small amount of support.

The Emerson family might have been stronger than the Dresrosa family, but only slightly. They weren’t on the same level as the Assad family. The Emersons only had three earth knights, and their family’s history spanned four to five hundred years at most.

To provide two great knights was no small feat.

However, more important to Thor than the fool’s strength was his territory’s proximity.

Falling Leaf Territory was only about 130 miles from Eagle Ridge, no more than a two-day journey.

As Thor studied the map, pinpointing the location of Falling Leaf Territory, his eyes gleamed with cold determination.
