**Chapter 89: The End of the Battle**
After a continuous month of rain, combined with the dam’s accumulation, the floodwaters were nothing short of terrifying. As they gathered and surged forward, the torrent quickly became an overwhelming force, instantly engulfing thousands of minotaurs.
Everything in its path was destroyed—whether forest or building. Even first- and second-tier magical beasts stood no chance against the destructive flood.
With a deafening roar, the wildfire was immediately extinguished, and thousands of minotaurs were swept away by the flood.
Some first-tier minotaurs tried to resist, but the immense force of the water overpowered them, dragging their bodies away. The land ahead turned into a vast swamp, and the thousands of minotaurs were left with no chance to fight back.
This scene left everyone in awe. Even the knights of the Maine River Valley stared in disbelief, wide-eyed.
But once the initial shock passed, smiles of triumph began to spread across their faces.
“Hahahaha!” Pape Lawrence burst out in laughter, paying no mind to his damaged silver armor, and charged forward with his knight’s sword once again.
Others followed suit.
At that moment, the heavy weight on their hearts was completely lifted. Although the minotaurs had been held off, everyone had still been nervous. They knew the wildfire could only hold them for so long. If the thousands of minotaurs had broken through, there would have been no stopping them—not even with their hidden forces.
But now, that fear had vanished. The flood had swept away the minotaur horde, eliminating the threat entirely.
“Filthy minotaurs, come again if you dare!” shouted Baron Gratton with a triumphant grin.
The morale of the Maine River Valley knights surged.
In contrast, the second-tier minotaurs were left stunned, their breaths coming in heavy gasps. Soon, fury replaced their shock.
Just as the knights had hoped for the minotaurs to be stopped by the flood, the minotaurs had been counting on their horde to break through the human defenses. They had planned to tear the humans to shreds once they had.
But the flood had shattered those plans, leaving them enraged.
“Damn it!”
With a sudden explosion of power, the second-tier minotaur that Thor was holding off let out a furious roar. Blood-red energy surged around its body, and its strength skyrocketed. The creature, filled with disbelief and rage, lost all control.
Those thousands of minotaurs were meant to be sacrificial offerings to their Titan God, and now they were gone.
The second-tier minotaur began to burn its life force, its power continuing to rise. It was rapidly approaching third-tier strength.
“Boom!”
Thor was sent flying back. Despite the protection of his golden armor, he felt his internal organs struggling to bear the impact. The immense power was starting to seep through the armor.
Yet, Thor didn’t seem too concerned. Instead, a smile spread across his face.
This was the moment he’d been waiting for.
“Emrey! Jenir!” he called out, his voice carried by his life force over a great distance.
In the distant forest, two figures who had been waiting anxiously immediately sprang into action.
“Charge!”
With that cry, dozens of full knights and many trainee knights emerged from the forest, charging toward the battlefield.
These were the knights that had been hidden away until now.
Thor had been waiting for this moment. The number of minotaurs was overwhelming—over four thousand, including thirteen second-tier minotaurs. While the forces of the Maine River Valley were strong, it would have been nearly impossible to fend them off completely without taking heavy losses.
From the start, Thor had planned to keep most of their strength hidden, allowing the minotaurs to grow complacent. Then, the flood would sweep away the horde, leaving the remaining knights to finish off the second-tier minotaurs.
Without the support of the thousands of minotaurs, the remaining second-tier minotaurs stood no chance—unless one of them could reach third-tier strength.
But that was nearly impossible.
Indeed, even though the second-tier minotaurs had used forbidden techniques to briefly reach third-tier power, their strength quickly waned. The minotaur Thor had been battling, which had previously been dominating, was now being pressed back as Thor renewed his assault.
The other minotaurs were facing the same fate.
With the addition of the elite knights, the tide of battle turned in favor of the humans. Where once the eleven second-tier minotaurs had held the advantage, they were now being overwhelmed.
While two or three knights could hardly hold off a single second-tier minotaur, seventy full knights, three hundred trainee knights, and over a thousand reserve knights were more than enough to overwhelm the eleven minotaurs.
The gap between a grand knight and a full knight wasn’t as vast as the gap between a grand knight and a land knight. Similarly, the difference between first-tier and second-tier wasn’t insurmountable.
Typically, seven or eight full knights could match a grand knight, and more than ten could overwhelm a second-tier beast.
Now, with seventy full knights, eight grand knights, and hundreds of trainees and reserves, the eleven minotaurs stood no chance.
The battle raged on, but within an hour, the last of the second-tier minotaurs fell.
Their blood stained the earth, and a sense of victory washed over the entire battlefield.
“We won!” Pape Lawrence murmured, still slightly dazed.
“Yes, we won,” Baron Gratton echoed, filled with emotion.
Baron Valmy simply smiled.
The three barons had originally hoped only to fend off the minotaurs’ assault. But not only had they done that—they had achieved complete victory.
Thousands of minotaurs lay dead in the Maine River Valley.
They had even managed to slay second-tier minotaurs. A single second-tier minotaur was worth ten merit points, and earning a baron’s title required only a hundred points.
With thirteen second-tier minotaurs defeated, the rewards would be immense.
