- Global Reincarnation: Only I Know the Plot
- GROIKTP Chapter 435
“Who exactly are you?” Poseidon glared at Chen Ye, his expression grim.
He had a sinking feeling that things were about to go very badly for him today.
“I’ve already answered that question. I am the Sea God,” Chen Ye replied calmly. “I’ll give you one more chance, Poseidon. Will you hand over the trident willingly, or do I have to beat you to death and take it myself?”
“How dare you! I’ll drown you in the waves!” Poseidon roared, his eyes turning a bright blue.
The sea below seemed to sense the Sea God’s fury, growing wild and turbulent. In the next moment, massive waves surged upward.
A colossal tsunami, over 200 meters high, appeared from all directions, closing in on Chen Ye. These waves then transformed into towering sea giants, roaring as they charged toward him.
The sheer scale of the attack was awe-inspiring. It was as if Poseidon *was* the ocean itself, and the ocean was him.
Just as they surfaced and caught sight of this scene, Arthur and his companions were struck with fear, their faces pale.
This was the power of a god—something no mortal could withstand.
Even Chen Ye seemed surprised for a moment. But it wasn’t the size or power of Poseidon’s attack that caught his attention—it was the remarkable strength of the trident in Poseidon’s hand.
“If I can snatch that trident and fuse it with mine, its ability to control the sea will improve beyond measure,” Chen Ye thought, his interest piqued.
“Poseidon, how many times do I have to tell you? Size doesn’t matter to me,” Chen Ye said dismissively.
He suddenly put away his own trident, clenched both fists, and launched a powerful punch to each side—just like Whitebeard’s attack during the War of the Best.
*CRACK!*
The space around him shattered, and a wave of immense destructive power rippled outwards.
The shockwave caused the surrounding air to vibrate, distorting gravity in the process. Although Chen Ye’s strength wasn’t quite on par with Whitebeard’s yet (he could surpass it when fully unleashed), he couldn’t yet create massive tsunamis that could shake the world.
However, this full-force punch was more than enough to obliterate the sea giants made of water. In an instant, cracks appeared all over their bodies, as if they had been sliced apart by a powerful blade.
The divine energy that Poseidon had infused into the giants quickly dissipated, unable to sustain itself.
*BOOM!*
The sea giants collapsed, dissolving back into the ocean.
Seeing this, Poseidon’s will to fight shattered. In a desperate attempt to flee, he transformed into a fish and darted into the sea, swimming away as fast as he could.
Chen Ye, who had been watching closely, noticed this immediately.
“Trying to run? You really think you can escape?”
Chen Ye snorted and raised his trident, using it to control the surrounding waters and lift the entire sea into the air, trapping the fish within.
However, there were too many fish in the sea. Poseidon, disguised among them, was difficult to pick out.
“You really think hiding will help?” Chen Ye muttered, a grin creeping across his face.
With a casual motion, Chen Ye activated the Thunder God’s Ring on his left hand.
Instantly, dark clouds gathered in the sky above.
*RUMBLE!*
The sky, which had been clear moments before, became shrouded in thick, oppressive storm clouds, accompanied by flashes of lightning. The sudden shift in the weather was so extreme that even a fool could tell something unnatural was happening.
*CRACK!*
A massive bolt of lightning struck Chen Ye, enveloping him in a blinding flash. Electric “dragons” coiled around his body, giving him the appearance of a thunder god descending from the heavens—an awe-inspiring sight.
Arthur and his companions were left speechless.
“Isn’t he supposed to be the Sea God? How can he control lightning too?” Mera gasped, eyes wide.
No one had an answer. Arthur, his mother, and the others couldn’t comprehend how this “Sea God” possessed so many powerful abilities. The term “monster” didn’t seem sufficient to describe him anymore.
“Poseidon, if you don’t come out, I’ll fry you into fish sticks!” Chen Ye declared.
Within the sea he controlled, a small fish stiffened for a brief moment but then resumed swimming like the others. Clearly, Poseidon intended to endure to the bitter end.
“You asked for it!” Chen Ye growled, raising his left hand and unleashing all the electricity stored within the Thunder God’s Ring.
A massive bolt of lightning, resembling a dragon, struck the sea below.
Since water conducts electricity, the entire area was soon flooded with electrical currents. Every fish in the water, including the one disguised as Poseidon, was paralyzed by the intense voltage.
The electric current was far stronger than any typical high-voltage shock, and most of the fish were quickly killed. Only one fish—Poseidon in disguise—managed to survive, though its body trembled uncontrollably from the shock.
As soon as the electricity subsided, Poseidon reverted to his original form, leaping out of the water.
He was a pitiful sight—his hair singed, his body charred, and he looked like a beggar more than a god.
“Who… who are you? How do you have the power to control lightning?” Poseidon stammered.
Among the gods, controlling lightning was Zeus’ domain, so Poseidon was deeply shaken by this.
But Chen Ye had no intention of wasting any more time talking.
Seeing that he had successfully forced Poseidon out, Chen Ye immediately rushed forward, raising his fist, ready to strike.
“Stop!” Poseidon suddenly shouted, “I surrender!”
Chen Ye ignored him.
“I gave you a chance to surrender earlier, but you didn’t take it. Now it’s too late!”
Seeing Chen Ye charging at him with killing intent, Poseidon quickly added, “You can’t kill me! If you do, the sea will lose control!”
Chen Ye paused, his fist still raised, and looked at Poseidon with suspicion.
Seeing Chen Ye’s doubtful expression, Poseidon explained, “When the King of the Gods distributed divine authority and made me the Sea God, I became connected to the sea itself. I am its embodiment. If you kill me, the sea will fall into chaos—tsunamis will drown the land, and the people of the ocean will perish in the ensuing disorder!”
Hearing this, Chen Ye frowned.
Though he wasn’t sure if Poseidon was telling the truth, he wasn’t willing to take the risk. If Poseidon was right, all his efforts over the past two weeks would be in vain.
After considering for a moment, Chen Ye spoke. “Hand over the trident and crawl back to your lair!”
Poseidon’s face twisted with reluctance.
Without the trident, his power would diminish significantly. He might not even be able to match a lower-ranked god.
“I can give you my title as Sea God and won’t compete with you for the faith of the ocean dwellers. Isn’t that enough?” Poseidon asked weakly.
“Of course not!” Chen Ye said flatly. “Either hand over the trident, or I’ll take it myself!”
Poseidon’s face darkened.
Letting this monster take the trident himself meant more than losing the weapon—it meant getting beaten up. Poseidon understood that well.
He tried to bargain. “I can give you all the treasures I’ve accumulated over the millennia. Just please don’t take my trident. It’s too important to me!”
Hearing this, Chen Ye moved toward Poseidon once more, his killing intent clear.
“Fine, I’ll give it to you!” Poseidon shouted in defeat, knowing that a wise man avoids immediate danger. “I’ll give it to you! Just calm down. You can have the trident!”
With great reluctance, Poseidon threw his trident toward Chen Ye, his face filled with pain.
Chen Ye caught the trident, sensing that the one in his hand seemed to thrum with excitement. He smiled in satisfaction.
“Human, your reckless actions may bring disaster upon you,” Poseidon warned, his tone bitter.
After casting one last longing glance at his former trident, Poseidon dove into the ocean, disappearing from sight. He intended to seek out his brother, Zeus, to deal with Chen Ye.
But Chen Ye didn’t care about Poseidon anymore.
Without his trident, Poseidon likely wouldn’t even be a match for Arthur.
Then, Chen Ye combined the two tridents he now held.
Immediately, a brilliant light erupted from the fusion, causing the ocean waters to surge and churn.
When the light faded, only one trident remained.
The newly-formed trident gleamed with pure gold, exuding a divine glow that made it look like a mythical weapon.
Chen Ye grasped the trident, feeling its immense power flowing through him.
The system chimed in with a notification:
[Special Item: Sea God’s Trident!]
[The trident, a weapon exclusive to the Sea God. With this trident in hand, you are the god of the sea. The ocean is your servant. You can easily stir up waves, summon storms, cause tsunamis, and even sink continents.]
Chen Ye was pleasantly surprised.
When he first obtained the original trident, the system had labeled it as “Trident (Imitation).” But now, it had transformed into the true Sea God’s Trident.
“So this is the complete version of the trident? After returning, I should toss it into the smart furnace and make it into a ring. That way, I can carry it with me at all times without needing to wield it physically.”
Feeling pleased with his victory, Chen Ye heard Arthur’s voice behind him.
“Sea God!” Arthur called out.
Turning around, Chen Ye saw Arthur and the others bowing slightly, their faces filled with awe. None of them dared to look him directly in the eyes.
If any of them had harbored doubts about Chen Ye’s identity before, those doubts were now gone.
After witnessing Chen Ye thrash Poseidon and steal his trident, Arthur and his companions had no more questions about Chen Ye’s status.
He was terrifying beyond imagination.
“Arthur, were you all frightened?” Chen Ye asked with a smile, clearly in a good mood.
Arthur, still concerned, said, “Sea God, you let Poseidon go, but he might return seeking revenge.”
Arthur’s worry was justified.
As long as Chen Ye was around, there was nothing to fear. But if Poseidon returned while Chen Ye was absent, they wouldn’t be able to defend against a god.
Chen Ye laughed at Arthur’s concern. “Don’t worry, Arthur. Poseidon wouldn’t dare trouble you. On the contrary, without the power to defeat me, he’ll make sure to protect you, because he knows if any harm comes to you, I’ll hunt him down!”
Arthur thought about this and found it made sense. He sighed in relief, knowing that Chen Ye’s presence offered them protection, even in his absence.
Just as Arthur was about to speak further, Chen Ye’s expression suddenly shifted.
“Arthur, I’ve got urgent business to attend to. Be a good king!” Chen Ye said quickly.
Without another word, he summoned a wave to carry him swiftly across the ocean, heading toward the mainland.
Moments ago, the system had notified Chen Ye of a hidden mission: to stop Steppenwolf’s plan.
As Arthur and the others watched Chen Ye disappear over the horizon, Mera couldn’t help but ask, “Arthur, what happened to the Sea God?”
Arthur shook his head. “I have no idea.”
Queen Atlanna gently reminded him, “Arthur, we shouldn’t speculate on the actions of the gods.”
Understanding his mother’s wisdom, Arthur nodded. “You’re right.”
“I was being rash,” Mera admitted.
Meanwhile, on the ocean’s surface, a fishing boat bobbed along.
The fishermen on board were stunned when they saw a figure surfing on a giant wave, moving at lightning speed—far faster than any boat.
“My God!” the captain gasped, his crew equally dumbfounded.
Chen Ye, deep in thought, paid no attention to the nearby boat.
“It seems my interference has prevented Superman’s resurrection, leaving the rest of the Justice League unable to stop Steppenwolf. That must be why the system gave me this hidden mission. My plan worked.”
Chen Ye was pleased with himself.
Though, unbeknownst to him, Superman had already been revived…
