GROIKTP Chapter 446

This entry is part 366 of 534 in the series Global Reincarnation: Only i Know the Plot

City Center.

On a bustling street outside a shopping mall.

Standing amidst the crowd, Chen Ye suddenly sensed something was off.

He noticed that almost all the passersby around him were couples—a man and a woman, clearly wrapped up in the sweetness of love.

Even on his way here, he had witnessed several public love confessions…

Upon entering the mall, he saw numerous stores advertising Valentine’s Day discounts.

“Wait, today is… Valentine’s Day?”

Chen Ye was momentarily stunned.

He quickly checked his phone and confirmed it was indeed Valentine’s Day.

“So, when I gave Tang Yuting those two special items at dawn, she might have misunderstood? Now she wants to return the favor with a gift, and…”

Chen Ye suddenly realized he had made a huge blunder!

He genuinely didn’t know today was Valentine’s Day.

Giving a gift on this day was purely coincidental—a sudden thought that came to him, with no intention of flirting.

Though it was all a misunderstanding, he didn’t regret it. In fact, he found it somewhat amusing!

He was actually quite fond of Tang Yuting.

She had everything—beauty, intelligence, and a great figure—and she was also smart and considerate.

In his past life, a girl like Tang Yuting would have been out of his league, even in his dreams.

If he were to develop a romantic relationship with Tang Yuting, Chen Ye wouldn’t mind it one bit.

Just as Chen Ye was lost in thought, someone gently tapped him on the shoulder from behind.

He turned around to see a delicate, flower-like face in front of him.

It was Tang Yuting!

“Hey, Chen Ye! You seemed to be daydreaming—what were you thinking about?”

Tang Yuting’s bright eyes sparkled with amusement. It was obvious that she was also in a good mood, excited about this “date.”

Chen Ye, though usually straightforward and not one to dwell on emotions, wasn’t clueless when it counted.

“I was thinking about where we should go next. Maybe we could do what everyone else is doing—catch a movie, have dinner, and take a nice walk together…”

Hearing this, Tang Yuting’s face turned red instantly.

What Chen Ye described was exactly the typical date for couples.

Feeling a bit shy, Tang Yuting softly replied, “I’ll follow your lead.”

Chen Ye chuckled, “Alright, let’s stick to the classic plan. Come on, let’s watch a movie first.”

“Wait a moment!”

Tang Yuting suddenly pulled out a beautifully wrapped gift box from her pocket, her face glowing with embarrassment as she handed it to Chen Ye.

“Chen Ye, this is a gift for you. I hope you like it…”

Chen Ye looked deeply at Tang Yuting, noticing how her shy demeanor only made her more radiant.

He accepted the gift box, opened it, and saw a men’s wristwatch inside.

The watch was exquisite, clearly a high-end item with fine craftsmanship. It even had rubies set into it, hinting at its considerable value.

Chen Ye took the watch out of the box and tried it on. It fit perfectly and looked quite good on him.

“Yuting, did you pick this out? You’ve got great taste. Look, doesn’t it suit me?”

Tang Yuting raised her head, carefully studying him, and then smiled happily, “It really does look great on you.”

Chen Ye smiled back and patted his chest, “Perfect. I love it. Thank you for the thoughtful gift.”

Hearing his words, Tang Yuting blushed once more.

“Let’s go then, time to watch a movie.”

The two of them walked side by side towards the mall’s cinema.

Along the way, Chen Ye bought two cups of milk tea, making them look exactly like any other couple.

Given the special day, the cinema was packed with couples, and tickets for most of the romance films had already sold out.

In the end, Chen Ye picked an action blockbuster, and they lined up to enter the theater together.

It had to be said, the film industry in this world’s version of China was well-developed, producing films with impressive special effects that Chen Ye thoroughly enjoyed.

By the time the movie ended, it was already early evening.

Afterward, Chen Ye took Tang Yuting to a nice-looking Western restaurant for dinner.

Just like any normal couple!

This whole process brought them closer, their feelings for each other warming up. Though nothing had been explicitly said, they both tacitly acknowledged their mutual affection…

While Tang Yuting and Chen Ye were having dinner together, a group of unexpected visitors arrived at Tang Yuting’s house!

At a municipal government compound, the doorbell rang at a house inside.

Inside, a middle-aged man was having dinner with his wife.

The man was well-built with distinguished features, an example of a handsome older gentleman. More notably, he carried an air of righteousness about him, clearly a man of integrity.

His wife, equally graceful, had retained much of her youthful beauty—undoubtedly a stunning woman in her younger years.

This couple was none other than Tang Yuting’s parents.

Hearing the doorbell, the middle-aged man stood up, saying, “I’ll get it.”

Living in the municipal government compound meant that no random outsiders could enter; only high-ranking officials had access.

So the man didn’t feel the need to be cautious as he went to answer the door.

When he opened it, he was met by several men in black suits, looking sharp and efficient.

“And you are?” Tang’s father asked curiously.

“Good evening, Director Tang,” the man in front replied. “We’re from the National Department. My name is Zhao. Here are my credentials.”

The National Department was a special division tasked with safeguarding the country, possessing considerable authority.

Seeing the national emblem on the ID, Tang’s father became more serious and received the document with both hands. A quick glance was enough to confirm that these men were the real deal.

“Director Zhao, please come in.”

After ushering the men inside, Tang’s father anxiously asked, “What can I do for you, gentlemen from the National Department?”

He was clearly uneasy.

Normally, government officials like him had little to do with the National Department. The only time they’d be involved was if someone had committed a serious crime threatening national security—something that would definitely warrant this department’s intervention.

But as far as Tang’s father could recall, he had served faithfully and diligently for years. While he couldn’t claim to have been a saint, he certainly hadn’t done anything wrong…

“Director Tang, there’s no need to be nervous,” Zhao said with a smile. “We’re here about your daughter.”

“My daughter?” Tang’s father was even more surprised. “What’s going on with her?”

At this point, even Tang Yuting’s mother looked worried.

Zhao chuckled, “Director Tang, it seems you’re not aware yet, but your daughter, Tang Yuting, is currently dating someone.”

“Dating?”

Upon hearing that his daughter, who had just graduated from high school, was already in a relationship, Tang’s father instantly turned into a furious tiger.

“This girl! No wonder she’s hardly ever home—she’s in a premature relationship!” Tang’s father was visibly upset.

He had always treated his daughter like a precious treasure, and now, hearing that she was dating someone—potentially being “snatched” by another man—made him extremely uncomfortable.

“Wait a minute!” Tang Yuting’s mother interjected. “Wasn’t Yuting supposed to be with her sister? Didn’t Rongrong watch over her?”

Tang’s father scoffed, “Little Song is busy with work every day. She hardly has time to keep an eye on Yuting. I think that whole ‘I’m going to visit my sister’ excuse was just a cover!”

Meanwhile, the officer from the National Department, Director Zhao, had been silently observing Tang Yuting’s parents, as if he were carefully recording their reactions.

He had deliberately only shared half of the story, wanting to see how the parents would respond.

At this point, Tang’s father finally realized that reprimanding his daughter could wait; there were more pressing matters at hand.

“Director Zhao, comrades from the National Department, is there something wrong with the person my daughter is seeing? If so, she’s definitely been misled! I know my daughter; she would never do anything against the country…”

Director Zhao smiled reassuringly. “There’s no need to worry, Director Tang. This might actually be good news for you. Your daughter’s boyfriend is none other than… Shura!”

“Shura?” Tang’s father furrowed his brows. “That name sounds familiar. Where have I heard it before?”

Tang Yuting’s mother was quicker to connect the dots. Her eyes widened in surprise as she asked, “Isn’t that the same Shura they mentioned in the news today? The one who surpassed Rongrong?”

“What?”

Tang’s father was equally stunned, finally recalling who Shura was.

Director Zhao nodded. “Yes, exactly. That Shura.”

“Director Tang, I’m here to inform you that it’s the highest authority’s hope that you support the relationship between your daughter and Shura.”

As he spoke, Director Zhao’s expression grew serious. “This is a directive from the top. Shura is of immense importance to our nation. He has so far declined every offer to join any power or faction. Your daughter, Miss Tang, is currently the only person with the potential to bridge the gap between us and Shura.”

“This… this…” Tang’s father was completely dumbfounded.

He had thought his daughter was about to be taken advantage of by some “pig,” but instead, it seemed she had snagged a golden catch!

Director Zhao smiled again and added, “Additionally, Director Tang, the highest authority has reviewed your performance over the years and is very impressed with your accomplishments. After the next meeting, you’ll likely be transferred to a provincial post, taking on a more significant responsibility.”

A promotion!

And not just any promotion—it was a considerable leap, from a municipal leader straight into a provincial position.

Tang’s father understood that this promotion wasn’t solely due to his political achievements. It was because of his daughter.

If it were someone obsessed with power, they would likely be overjoyed, agreeing without hesitation to cooperate.

However, Tang’s father was conflicted.

A promotion was undoubtedly good news, but he didn’t want it to come at the cost of his daughter’s happiness.

He couldn’t help but ask, “Director Zhao, may I inquire about Shura’s background?”

Then, realizing the sensitivity of the subject, he quickly added, “If it’s classified, feel free to disregard my question.”

Director Zhao reassured him, “There’s no need for concern, Director Tang. Our investigation shows that Shura comes from a clean background. Like your daughter, he just graduated from high school. Here’s his photo.”

With that, Director Zhao handed Tang’s father a picture.

Tang’s father quickly took it and, alongside his wife, examined it closely.

In the photo was a bright, handsome young man with sharp, spirited eyes. Even in the photograph, his exceptional charisma was undeniable.

Seeing this, Tang’s father felt a sense of relief.

His greatest fear had been that Shura would turn out to be some older man. If that had been the case, he would’ve refused the relationship no matter what.

But from what he saw, Shura appeared to be a well-matched partner for his daughter.

“Thank you, Director Zhao… I’m willing to follow the party’s guidance.”

Tang’s father finally expressed his agreement.

Though he still felt uneasy about his daughter dating so early, he knew that someone like Shura wasn’t an opportunity they could afford to miss.

“Good. Then my task here is complete,” Director Zhao said with a smile. “One more thing—Shura’s identity is still classified as a national secret, so please be discreet.”

Tang’s father nodded earnestly.

After seeing the National Department officials off, Tang Yuting’s parents still felt a mix of emotions.

“Who would’ve thought Yuting was secretly dating someone behind our backs… I have to call her and get to the bottom of this!”

Tang’s mother grabbed her phone, ready to dial.

But Tang’s father stopped her. “Let’s not interrogate her. The child is grown up now; she’s capable of making her own decisions. As for the opportunity she’s been given, it’s beyond our control.”

Tang’s mother wasn’t exactly opposed to the idea of her daughter being with Shura—she was just concerned for her child.

“How about I call Rongrong and ask her?”

“That sounds reasonable.”

Meanwhile, Director Zhao, having left Tang Yuting’s house with his subordinates, was making a phone call.

“Any updates on the whereabouts of Li Ping?” he asked.

Li Ping was Chen Ye’s biological mother!

The voice on the other end replied, “Not yet…”

Director Zhao frowned. “Keep searching. I’ve heard other factions are also looking for her… Also, assign more personnel to protect Shura’s father, discreetly.”

“Understood!”

At that moment, Song Lingrong was in her office, reviewing a new report on the latest data concerning Chinese Reincarnators.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

Seeing the caller ID, she pinched the bridge of her nose before answering.

“Good evening, Aunt.”

“Lingrong! Is Yuting with you right now?”

“No, she’s out, probably won’t be back for a while.”

“Oh… I don’t have much to ask, just wanted to know if you’re aware of Yuting’s relationship with Shura?”

“Yes, I’m aware. In fact, I was the one who reported it to the higher-ups.”

“…Lingrong, would you mind telling me a bit about this Shura?”

“Auntie, are you worried that Yuting might’ve made a bad choice? Shura is a good friend of mine, and I can vouch for his character. He’s the type to repay kindness with kindness. While I can’t guarantee anything, I’m confident he won’t hurt Yuting. I actually think they’re a good match.”

Just as they were talking, someone knocked urgently on Song Lingrong’s office door.

“Auntie, hold on a second.”

Song Lingrong set down the phone. “Come in.”

A military officer rushed in, looking anxious. “Commander, we’ve just received intel: Adam and several top-ranked Reincarnators have been spotted in Osaka, in the island nation!”

Hearing this, Song Lingrong immediately stood up, her eyes flashing with determination.
