GROIKTP Chapter 475

This entry is part 396 of 534 in the series Global Reincarnation: Only i Know the Plot

After leaving the school, Chen Ye followed the memories in his mind and arrived at a martial arts dojo.

The dojo was called “Dragon and Tiger Dojo,” one of the largest and most prestigious in the area.

The exterior was lavishly decorated, far more extravagant than the modest dojo that Chen Ye’s father had once owned.

Chen Ye confidently strode inside.

Upon entering, he found himself in a reception hall.

A receptionist at the front desk immediately greeted him politely. “Hello, sir. Are you here to learn martial arts? We offer several courses to choose from…”

In these times, martial arts were thriving, and dojos were everywhere.

It wasn’t uncommon for regular people to take up martial arts for self-defense.

Clearly, the receptionist mistook Chen Ye for a potential customer and was eager to make a sale.

“Sir, since you’re young, I recommend our advanced class. You’ll be taught by top instructors, and learning powerful martial arts can not only improve your health but also help you impress the ladies!” she added enthusiastically.

Chen Ye waved his hand dismissively. “I’m here to see your master.”

“Our master?” The receptionist asked politely, “Do you have an appointment, sir? Our master is very busy, and if you don’t have an appointment, I’m afraid you won’t be able to meet him today… Perhaps you’d like to schedule one?”

Chen Ye didn’t have the patience for that.

Since this approach was proving troublesome, he decided to change tactics. Initially, he had intended to be polite and discuss his business with the dojo master. But now, he opted for a more direct approach.

“I’m here to challenge your dojo.”

“What?” The receptionist was visibly shocked, her voice rising. “You want to challenge the dojo?”

Her raised voice caught the attention of a few lazy martial arts students lounging nearby. They immediately perked up, surrounding Chen Ye with excitement, as if they had been injected with adrenaline.

The receptionist’s face froze in disbelief.

Challenges weren’t uncommon for martial arts dojos, but a place as reputable as Dragon and Tiger Dojo rarely had people daring to challenge them.

At least in the six months the receptionist had been working there, she hadn’t encountered a single challenger.

This was the first.

“Hey, kid, you’ve got guts coming here to challenge us!” one of the students exclaimed.

“Do you even know who our master is? He’s a recognized martial artist, undefeated with his Tiger Fist, and he even won first place in the regional martial arts tournament!” another boasted.

Chen Ye remained calm, replying flatly, “If I didn’t have some confidence, I wouldn’t be here.”

“Alright!” one of the students shouted excitedly. “Kid’s got some nerve! I’ll go call the coach.”

With that, the student hurried off to fetch the coach.

A few moments later, several burly instructors entered, accompanied by a crowd of curious students eager to watch the spectacle.

“What’s going on? Who’s challenging the dojo?” asked a stern-looking middle-aged coach.

The receptionist pointed to Chen Ye. “It’s this gentleman.”

“You’re the one challenging the dojo?” the coach asked, eyeing Chen Ye skeptically.

“That’s right.”

Chen Ye nodded calmly.

He knew they wouldn’t refuse.

For a dojo to reject a challenge would be a serious loss of face. It would damage the dojo’s reputation, as students might start doubting the skills of their instructors.

“Kid!” a stocky coach with a round belly chuckled. “This isn’t some TV show where you can get by with basic moves. You think you can just waltz in here and challenge us? Come back when you’ve learned a thing or two.”

Chen Ye smirked and countered, “What’s the matter? Are you scared?”

His words immediately put the instructors on the spot.

With so many students watching, backing down would be utterly humiliating.

“Alright, kid!” the stocky coach snapped. “Since you’re asking for it, I’ll put you in your place.”

The lead coach coughed and said, “If you’re going to challenge the dojo, you must follow the rules. Do you know the rules for challenges?”

Chen Ye wasn’t familiar with the specifics. “What rules?”

“You don’t even know the rules, and you think you can just waltz in here and challenge us?” the stocky coach sneered. “Listen up, kid. If you want to challenge the dojo, you start by fighting the lowest-ranked instructor. Then, if you win, you face the senior disciples, and after that, the head disciple. Only after defeating all of them can you challenge the master. Got it?”

“If anyone could just come in off the street and challenge our master, he’d be fighting all day!” another instructor added.

Chen Ye thought for a moment. That did make sense. “Alright, let’s follow the rules then.”

“Great! Let’s head to the training area,” the stocky coach said with a smirk. “I’ll be your first opponent.”

The group moved to the training area in the back, where even more students were practicing martial arts.

The news of someone coming to challenge the dojo quickly spread, and soon, all the students gathered around to watch.

In the middle of the arena, Chen Ye stood calmly.

“Kid, don’t you want to change into some proper training gear?” the stocky coach asked, noting Chen Ye’s casual shirt, which might restrict his movements.

Chen Ye simply shook his head.

For someone like this coach, Chen Ye could defeat him with just a thought (using his telekinesis). But that would be too extreme.

His goal wasn’t to make enemies.

Seeing Chen Ye’s refusal, the stocky coach shrugged and said, “Before we start, we need to sign a liability waiver. It’s part of the rules to prevent anyone from claiming injury or trying to extort the other party afterward.”

“That’s fine,” Chen Ye agreed easily.

After all, the waiver seemed to benefit him.

The dojo’s lawyer soon brought out standard contracts for both Chen Ye and the coach to sign.

Chen Ye glanced over it briefly and signed without hesitation.

“Any other rules?”

“None,” the stocky coach said, smirking as he got into a fighting stance. “You’re going to remember my name after this. I’m Sun Lin. If things get rough, don’t hesitate to surrender.”

Chen Ye said nothing, motioning for Sun Lin to make the first move.

It was a gesture of pure provocation.

Despite his cocky attitude earlier, Sun Lin didn’t rush in.

He might have been taunting Chen Ye, but as a dojo instructor, Sun Lin understood that he was representing the dojo’s reputation. Losing would have serious consequences, potentially costing him his job.

He couldn’t afford to take any risks, even if the young man in front of him didn’t look particularly strong.

“What’s wrong, kid? You came here to challenge the dojo, and now you’re too scared to move?” Sun Lin jeered, trying to provoke Chen Ye. “I’m right here! Come at me!”

Chen Ye, unfazed, simply walked forward.

As he approached, Sun Lin suddenly let out a shout and launched his attack.

He took a step forward, right foot planted in a solid stance, and his right hand formed a claw, aiming for Chen Ye’s shoulder.

This was the signature move from Tiger Fist—”Black Tiger Heart Strike.”

Normally, the move targeted the opponent’s chest, but Sun Lin was going easy, aiming for the shoulder instead, likely to avoid causing serious harm.

Unfortunately for him, he had severely underestimated Chen Ye.

There was no way Sun Lin could know that the young man standing before him was a human equivalent of a walking nuclear weapon…
