GROIKTP Chapter 484

This entry is part 405 of 534 in the series Global Reincarnation: Only i Know the Plot

In the following moments, the atmosphere inside the private room became much livelier.

Ever since Chen Ye had demonstrated his skills, everyone’s attitude toward him had drastically changed. Even Elder Xiao, who had previously carried himself with the authority of an elder, no longer dared to act superior in front of Chen Ye. He frequently offered him drinks, showing great respect.

Yan Zhong, who was not particularly skilled in martial arts but had a high emotional intelligence, played his part well, keeping the conversation light and enjoyable. It was no wonder he had managed to grow his martial arts school to such a scale.

As a result, Chen Ye ended up drinking quite a bit.

However, thanks to the super-soldier serum and his regenerative abilities, Chen Ye’s liver processed alcohol with ease, breaking down the toxins before they could even take effect. While he was capable of drinking a thousand cups without getting drunk, drinking a lot inevitably filled his bladder.

“Chen Ye, I toast to you with this glass,” Xiao Ling’er suddenly stood up, raising her glass. “I apologize for my rudeness earlier, and I wish you success in the Martial Arts Tournament!”

Chen Ye raised his glass and responded with a smile, “Very well, I’ll drink to that. But you’re still in the foundational stage of your training, and drinking too much isn’t good for you, so just take it easy.”

Drinking alcohol can harm the body, especially for martial artists still building their foundation, as many avoid alcohol to focus on their training. Only those who had reached a high level in their martial arts could resist the harmful effects of alcohol.

Knowing this was common knowledge to martial artists, Chen Ye relied on the memories of the original “Chen Ye.”

After he finished speaking, Chen Ye raised his glass and drank it all in one go.

Xiao Ling’er stared at Chen Ye as he drank, her mind wandering, “Why is he so concerned about me? Could it be that he still…?”

It wasn’t unreasonable for Xiao Ling’er to think this way. After all, the previous Chen Ye had publicly declared his affection for her and had even expressed his intention to pursue her.

Seeing that Chen Ye had finished his drink, Xiao Ling’er hastily raised her own glass and took a small sip, carefully following his advice.

Chen Ye set his glass down, feeling the increasing pressure in his bladder. The private room was small and didn’t have its own bathroom, so he had no choice but to use the public restroom outside.

“I’m going to the restroom,” Chen Ye announced as he stood up.

Unexpectedly, Xiao Ling’er also stood up. “I’ll go too.”

It wasn’t that she wanted to follow Chen Ye deliberately. She had also drunk a lot of water that evening and couldn’t hold it in any longer.

Thus, the two of them left the private room together.

As soon as they left, Yan Zhong turned to Elder Xiao and said, “Master, I investigated this Chen Ye, and the results were strange. His past behavior wasn’t particularly outstanding, and just a short while ago, he was hospitalized after injuring his spleen due to overzealous training. But then, after leaving the hospital, he suddenly became incredibly strong. Master, what do you think could explain this?”

Elder Xiao furrowed his brow deeply upon hearing this.

“We’ll discuss this later when we return,” Elder Xiao replied. This wasn’t the best place to talk about such matters—Chen Ye could return at any moment, and skilled martial artists tend to have exceptionally sharp hearing.

Outside the private room.

“Chen Ye, I really didn’t expect your strength to be so formidable,” Xiao Ling’er couldn’t help but ask. “Can you tell me how you managed to train like this?”

“Maybe it’s just because I have good talent,” Chen Ye replied, dismissively.

Xiao Ling’er couldn’t help but roll her eyes at his vague answer.

The public restroom wasn’t far, and after a brief conversation, the two arrived.

They went their separate ways—Chen Ye heading to the men’s restroom, while Xiao Ling’er went to the women’s.

A moment later, Chen Ye came out and started washing his hands when a familiar voice called out to him.

“Chen Ye?”

Turning his head, Chen Ye saw two young men who looked vaguely familiar. After a brief moment of thought, he remembered that they were his classmates.

Both of them were dressed rather well, clearly here to dine at the hotel.

“It really is you!” one of them said with a smile. “I thought I was seeing things.”

Before Chen Ye could respond, the other young man chimed in with a mocking tone. “Chen Ye, I don’t remember you being invited to tonight’s class gathering. Did you just show up anyway? That’s pretty bold of you.”

The comment was sharp and full of disdain.

Chen Ye then recalled that this particular young man didn’t get along with the previous version of himself.

The first young man quickly explained, “Chen Ye, we didn’t invite you because we heard you were in the hospital, so we didn’t bother to notify you.”

Chen Ye smiled casually. He had no interest in whatever agendas these two might have.

Just as the second young man, who had mocked Chen Ye earlier, was about to say something else, Xiao Ling’er emerged from the women’s restroom.

His eyes widened in surprise, and his expression became nervous as he stammered, “Xiao… Xiao Ling’er, you’re here too?”

Recognizing him as a fellow student, Xiao Ling’er merely nodded before turning to Chen Ye. “Chen Ye, let’s go.”

Chen Ye and Xiao Ling’er then left together, walking toward the private room.

Watching the two walk away, the two young men stood there, stunned.

They had never imagined that Chen Ye, of all people, would silently end up with Xiao Ling’er.

Judging by their demeanor, it seemed the two had come to dine together.

“Am I seeing things? Are Chen Ye and Xiao Ling’er… dating?” one of the young men, the one who had been polite earlier, asked in disbelief.

The other young man, who had mocked Chen Ye, wore a dark expression. “There’s no way they’re dating. Xiao Ling’er would never go for someone like Chen Ye! Besides, Chen Ye is practically a cripple now after his injury. How could he be worthy of her?”

“Then how do you explain what we just saw?” his companion asked, leaving the first young man at a loss for words.

A week later.

“The 177th Martial Arts Tournament is about to begin!”

With the world facing the threat of invasion by eldritch gods, human governments needed martial artists to combat these entities. As a result, the Martial Arts Tournament had become a global event, promoted heavily by governments.

In the past few days, the tournament had been plastered across every form of media—news websites, TV, and social networks.

For a while, all the headlines were about the Martial Arts Tournament.

Everyone was eagerly awaiting the start of this grand event.

“52 hours left until the tournament begins…”

Sitting in his apartment, Chen Ye was browsing the internet when the banner for the Martial Arts Tournament caught his eye.

“It really is a global event! If I win the championship, I should be able to complete my mission, right?” Chen Ye mused to himself.

Thanks to Elder Xiao’s help, the issue of the entry pass had been resolved. Now, it was just a matter of waiting for the competition schedule to be finalized so he could participate.

Suddenly, Chen Ye thought about his fellow reincarnators.

“I wonder if any of my ‘colleagues’ will be participating in the Martial Arts Tournament…” he thought to himself.
