GROIKTP Chapter 488

This entry is part 409 of 534 in the series Global Reincarnation: Only i Know the Plot

“Now, we invite Contestant No. 15, Chen Ye, to face Contestant No. 16, Ren Fei!”

As the host’s voice echoed throughout the stadium, thunderous applause erupted.

Although the matches after the opening one hadn’t been as exciting as the fight between the top seeds, martial arts battles of this caliber were still a rare spectacle. Watching them was certainly better than nothing.

Backstage at the entrance.

“Chen Ye, good luck!”

Upon hearing the host’s announcement, Xiao Ling’er, feeling nervous, cheered for Chen Ye.

Chen Ye smiled gently, gave her an “OK” hand gesture, and walked out of the backstage area, striding confidently toward the ring.

At the same time, Ren Fei, his opponent, also emerged from the opposite entrance and stepped into the ring.

The moment both competitors stepped onto the stage, cameras zoomed in on them, broadcasting the match live.

In a small three-room apartment.

Zhao Fang was reclining on the living room sofa, watching the city’s tournament broadcast on her phone.

She had just been watching another city’s broadcast, where her idol had competed. After that match, she switched to the local tournament.

As soon as she saw Chen Ye step into the ring, she jumped in surprise.

She knew this “childhood friend” very well. When did Chen Ye sign up for the Martial Arts Tournament?

Wasn’t he supposed to be recovering from an injury after rushing his training and damaging his internal organs?

“Dad! Dad! Come quick!” she yelled.

Zhao’s father, who was getting ready to go fishing, rushed over.

“What’s going on? Why are you shouting?”

“Look at the TV!”

Zhao Fang quickly switched the TV to the local station.

The Martial Arts Tournament, being such a huge event, was, of course, being broadcast live by the local television channels.

As soon as the screen came on, Zhao’s father’s eyes widened in shock.

“Is that… Xiao Ye?”

“It’s Chen Ye!” Zhao Fang confirmed.

Zhao’s father was stunned for a moment, then suddenly burst into a tirade of curses: “That brat! He actually entered the Martial Arts Tournament? Is he out of his mind? How could he possibly handle this?”

“Fangfang, call him! Stop him quickly!”

Zhao Fang rolled her eyes at her father. “Dad, he’s already in the ring. How am I supposed to stop him now?”

“That fool… he better not get himself hurt!” Zhao’s father said anxiously, his eyes fixed on the television.

“Contestants, ready… the match begins!”

The host announced the start, immediately leaping out of the ring to leave it to the two competitors.

Chen Ye didn’t make the first move. He stood still, seemingly waiting for Ren Fei to attack.

Up in the stands, Xiao Ling’er’s face tensed with nervousness.

No matter what, she was Chen Ye’s assistant. If he lost in the first round of the eliminations, she wouldn’t be able to show her face anywhere.

At that moment, Ren Fei suddenly spoke.

“Kid, if you can withstand just one of my punches, I’ll concede the match,” Ren Fei boasted arrogantly.

A commotion rippled through the crowd.

“Just one punch? Does he think he can end the match in one blow?”

“Contestant No. 16, Ren Fei, is getting too cocky, isn’t he?”

“Don’t underestimate him. Do you remember that notorious gym-challenge incident in An Province? A single man went through almost every major dojo. That man was Ren Fei!”

“Gasp! So it’s him? No wonder he’s so confident.”

“Who’s his opponent?”

“The host mentioned his name—Chen Ye, I think?”

“Never heard of him!”

“Probably just a nobody…”

In the VIP seats.

A government official asked, “Is this young man, Chen Ye, the one Old Xiao recommended?”

“Yes, that’s correct.”

“Oh? If Old Xiao recommended him, he should be no ordinary talent, right?” The official chuckled, showing some interest.

In the ring.

Hearing Ren Fei’s challenge, Chen Ye smiled and nodded, “Alright.”

Ren Fei sneered, “Good! Just know my punch is no joke!”

With that, Ren Fei began advancing step by step toward Chen Ye.

His movements were strange, with his feet turned slightly outward. His walk looked awkward, even a bit comical.

However, with every step he took, his aura grew stronger.

In the VIP seats, a veteran Grandmaster narrowed his eyes, his gaze sharp.

“So Ren Fei is a disciple of that master!”

“Oh?” The nearby government official asked with curiosity, “Elder Zhang, do you recognize where Ren Fei is from?”

Elder Zhang, his expression serious, replied, “If I’m not mistaken, Ren Fei is using the Wushi Eight-Step technique. Every step he takes gathers his qi and blood. By the time he reaches his opponent, he’ll unleash his most powerful strike. Old Xiao’s recommendation could be in danger…”

“Wushi? Master Wu?”

“Indeed!”

Upon hearing Elder Zhang’s confirmation, the official’s eyes lit up.

A disciple of a renowned Grandmaster? And from this city? That was excellent news.

It seemed there was another promising contender among the competitors.

Losing Cao Wujin earlier had been disappointing for the city officials, but this more than made up for it.

With Master Wu’s disciple in the mix, they had another strong contender.

The official smiled, eager to continue watching the match.

By the time Ren Fei reached Chen Ye, his body seemed to have swelled, his face flushed as red as blood.

It was clear something wasn’t right.

Only the experienced martial artists in the crowd could see what was happening—Ren Fei had mobilized his entire qi and blood.

Once released, the result would be devastating.

Looking at Chen Ye, now standing just inches away, Ren Fei suddenly chuckled:

“Apologies, my master wants me to make a name for myself in this tournament, so I have to use this move… If I end up crippling you, don’t worry, I’ll cover your medical expenses for the rest of your life!”

With those words, Ren Fei’s expression turned fierce as he launched a devastating punch.

His fist darkened dramatically, turning black as blood rushed into it, making it starkly different from the rest of his body.

“Whoosh!”

The sound of the air being torn echoed throughout the arena.

Ren Fei’s punch was menacing and fierce.

Yet Chen Ye didn’t dodge or retreat. Instead, he casually raised one finger.

Yes!

Faced with Ren Fei’s most powerful strike, Chen Ye calmly countered with a single finger.

The next moment.

That finger met Ren Fei’s fist.

Everyone expected Chen Ye’s finger to shatter, perhaps even his whole arm.

But what happened next shocked everyone.

“Bang!”

A sharp explosion echoed in the air.

Ren Fei’s sleeve instantly tore apart, and the bones in half his body fractured with a horrifying sound.

“Ahhh!!”

A piercing scream filled the stadium.
