GROIKTP Chapter 540

This entry is part 462 of 534 in the series Global Reincarnation: Only i Know the Plot

Chen Ye’s appearance instantly caught the attention of everyone in the meeting room.

Next to him, Saitama was practically invisible.

The S-class heroes were also sizing Chen Ye up.

“That’s Mundo? If I get the chance, I’d love to spar with him,” thought Atomic Samurai.

“A human who defeated Elder Centipede? If I could obtain his body data, I’d become even stronger,” thought Metal Knight.

Silver Fang Bang commented inwardly, “This young man’s aura is truly intimidating!”

“Mundo seems to be looking at me… Has he noticed my perfect muscles?” mused Superalloy Darkshine.

“Mundo is so MANLY! I have to take this chance to build a good relationship with him,” thought Puri-Puri Prisoner.

“Thump! Thump! Thump!… These people are terrifying! My heart is racing. I want to go home and play video games,” thought a certain person, despite his so-called Emperor’s Engine.

“Tch, what’s so special about him?” huffed Tatsumaki, unimpressed.

Chen Ye’s gaze swept across the S-class heroes, noting their expressions and reactions.

“Mister Mundo, this is your seat. Please, have a seat over here,” the Association President warmly invited him.

The seat he pointed to was at the head of the table, right in front of Tatsumaki.

With a faint smile, Chen Ye walked over and sat down.

“Tch!”

Just as he sat, a cold snort sounded from beside him.

Chen Ye, of course, knew it was from the prideful Tatsumaki, but he didn’t mind. He smiled faintly and didn’t let it bother him.

Once Chen Ye had seated, the President began the meeting.

“Sorry for keeping everyone waiting.”

“Since Blast’s whereabouts are unknown and we can’t contact him, waiting any longer isn’t an option. So, we will now begin this emergency meeting.”

The President’s expression grew serious as he continued, “I will personally explain the situation to everyone. Time is of the essence, so let’s get straight to the point… The main reason we’ve gathered the top heroes in the world here today is…”

“We need you all to protect Earth!!”

Upon hearing this, the atmosphere in the room grew tense. Even the usually indifferent Tatsumaki appeared a little more serious.

The President continued, “This catastrophe is a threat to all humanity. Even the strongest among you may lose your lives in this disaster… So if anyone is feeling afraid, you can say so now. We will still keep your S-class rank.”

No one spoke.

As S-class heroes, pride was their core, and fleeing ahead of a battle was simply unthinkable. Even if someone (King) might have wanted to say so, he couldn’t bring himself to in front of the others.

Seeing that no one objected, the President’s expression brightened, and he continued sincerely:

“This disaster comes from the spaceship in the sky. A great prophet once foretold that Earth might be destroyed in this event! So, we ask all of you top heroes to give it your all to protect our planet!!”

“Ding! Ding!”

As soon as the President finished speaking, the sound of metal clanging echoed in the room.

It was the S-class hero ranked 16th, Metal Bat, tapping his bat on the ground.

Once he had everyone’s attention, Metal Bat finally spoke: “You’ve said a lot, but do we have any info on the enemy?”

The President didn’t mind Metal Bat’s tone and solemnly replied, “Since this is the first time we’ve encountered such an enemy, we don’t have detailed information. However, based on the think tank’s analysis, the enemy is likely to be a powerful alien species wandering the universe!”

That statement was basically stating the obvious!

Anyone arriving in a spaceship from outer space was clearly an alien.

Just then—

“Boom!!”

A massive explosion rocked the building.

The entire structure trembled violently.

Everyone’s expressions changed, and the President, visibly shocked, shouted, “What happened? What’s going on?”

A pale-faced technician answered shakily, “M-Mr. President, something terrible has happened. The spaceship has descended over City A, and it just launched an unknown attack, destroying 99% of City A’s district. Only the Hero Association headquarters remains standing, though it has suffered severe damage. If attacked again, it will surely be destroyed…”

The President’s face turned white with fear!

“99%? Does that mean… City A was wiped out in an instant? Why? Why did they attack so quickly?”

It seemed the President was overwhelmed with fear. His face drained of color, and his eyes were filled with terror.

Silver Fang Bang couldn’t help but ask, “Hey, President, why is our building still standing?”

The President didn’t respond, but a nearby technician explained, “The headquarters was built by Metal Knight. It’s much stronger than even the shelters!”

Metal Bat muttered, “No wonder. Not even a window broke.”

At this point, Chen Ye finally spoke, his tone calm: “In any case, we should go see who the enemy is. Sitting here won’t solve anything.”

Hearing this, the President quickly bowed to the assembled heroes:

“The Earth is in your hands!”

Without further ado, the heroes left the meeting room to prepare for battle.

They all gathered on the rooftop of the headquarters.

From this vantage point, the sheer size of the spaceship was even clearer.

It blotted out the sky!

It felt as if the entire heavens were blocked by its immense bulk!!

Beneath the ship, what used to be the bustling City A was now nothing but a ruin, devastated beyond recognition.

“What kind of power is this? Did it really destroy City A in one strike?” Atomic Samurai said, shocked.

Watchdog Man sniffed the air and remarked, “There are still survivors on the ground.”

Child Emperor said, “Those people are in danger. We can’t just leave them.”

“You’re right,” Silver Fang Bang added. “Some of you come with me, and we’ll deal with the enemies on the ground.”

With that, Atomic Samurai, Metal Bat, Puri-Puri Prisoner, and several other non-flying heroes followed Bang downstairs.

In an instant, the rooftop was half empty.

“The enemies on the ground should be easy enough to handle, but… what do we do about that colossal thing?” Child Emperor asked, staring at the massive spaceship in the sky, visibly concerned.

Tatsumaki suddenly looked over at Chen Ye, her tone prideful, “Hey, Mundo! How about you join me, and we take out that spaceship together?”

Chen Ye smiled faintly and replied, “No need. Saitama and I can handle it. You guys focus on helping out on the ground.”

Hearing this, the others looked over, while Tatsumaki became visibly agitated:

“What’s that supposed to mean? Are you underestimating us?”

Chen Ye ignored her and patted the daydreaming Saitama on the shoulder:

“Saitama, let’s go!”

“Yes, sensei!”
