GROIKTP Chapter 580

This entry is part 503 of 534 in the series Global Reincarnation: Only i Know the Plot

*Boom!*

A thunderous crash echoed.

The Kaiju was knocked to the ground by Gipsy Danger.

This Kaiju was far too clumsy and rigid in its movements, clearly no match for Gipsy Danger.

Realizing this, the Kaiju let out a howl and began retreating back toward the ocean.

However, the pilots of Gipsy Danger were unwilling to let go of the opportunity to rack up another victory. They immediately gave chase, determined to finish off the Kaiju.

From a distance, atop a building…

Chen Ye couldn’t help but yawn.

At first, watching these two massive figures fight was somewhat interesting, but after a while, Chen Ye found it dull.

It was nothing more than two hulking giants exchanging blows—punches, claws—without any real skill involved.

‘Well, I’ve seen enough of the show. Time to step in.’

Just as the Kaiju was about to escape, Chen Ye stood up, ready to finish the beast off himself.

At that moment…

Gipsy Danger had already chased the Kaiju into the sea, the water rising up to its waist.

Despite its bulk, the Kaiju was surprisingly fast when fleeing.

Just as Chen Ye was about to move, his expression shifted slightly.

“Hm? Another big one is coming from the sea? An ambush?”

With his sharp senses, Chen Ye could detect a new, massive presence approaching from the ocean.

‘Looks like that Jaeger is in for some bad luck.’

He sat back down, intrigued by the unfolding situation.

The pilots of Gipsy Danger were a father-son duo, focused on hunting down the Kaiju.

At that moment, a warning came through the communicator from the base.

“Chuck, Herc, you’ve gone too deep into the ocean. Your mobility will be compromised. Disengage and return to base immediately!”

The father and son heard the order but chose to ignore it.

The Kaiju was already within their grasp; how could they let it escape now?

Suddenly, alarms blared, and an urgent voice came through the communicator:

“Chuck, Herc, be advised! A new Kaiju is approaching from your 10 o’clock! Brace yourselves!”

It was only then that the father and son realized the danger they were in.

The ocean had already risen to their chests.

In the next moment—

“ROAR!”

With a deafening roar, an enormous new Kaiju burst from the water, charging directly at Gipsy Danger.

This Kaiju resembled a massively enlarged gorilla, towering close to 100 meters tall, with a thick exoskeleton covering its body and fists as large as iron hammers.

As soon as Chen Ye saw this Kaiju, he felt a sense of familiarity. Then it hit him—he knew exactly what it was.

Leatherback!

In the original plot, Leatherback was a formidable opponent with an impressive track record.

It had the highest defense of all the Kaiju, able to withstand tremendous impacts without taking damage, compensating for its lack of speed.

Moreover, Leatherback was an incredibly intelligent Kaiju. It had a tactic where it teamed up with another Kaiju, Otachi, one attacking from the front while the other ambushed from behind, making them nearly unstoppable.

Most importantly, it had a weapon that was deadly to human Jaegers: an organic EMP (electromagnetic pulse).

By unleashing an EMP, Leatherback could disable all of the Jaeger’s electronic systems, rendering them helpless.

This ability had allowed Leatherback to destroy many Jaegers!

‘So it’s this guy!’

Chen Ye was a bit surprised.

Leatherback’s appearance indicated that the storyline had reached the later stages.

‘That Jaeger is done for!’

“God, it’s a Category 4 Kaiju!!!”

Back at the base, alarms blared.

The military had long since classified the Kaiju into different categories.

In general, the higher the category, the more terrifying the Kaiju’s combat capabilities.

For instance, a Category 3 Kaiju could easily wreak havoc on the human world, even surviving nuclear strikes!

Until now, no Category 4 Kaiju had appeared…

The general overseeing the battle grabbed the communicator, shouting, “Chuck, Herc, that’s a Category 4 Kaiju! Retreat immediately!”

In the ocean…

Hearing the general’s frantic voice, the father and son duo smiled bitterly.

“General, it’s too late to retreat. If we turn our backs now, we’ll die even faster—this is a trap…”

“There’s only one option left for us: fight!”

With that, the two pilots positioned Gipsy Danger for battle, controlling the Jaeger through their neural link.

The Jaeger’s shoulder panels opened, revealing its missiles!

Just as Chuck and Herc prepared to unleash their firepower on the Kaiju, the massive beast lunging toward them opened the armor on its head, revealing a glowing organ.

And then—

“Boom!”

An EMP wave erupted, quickly spreading across the entire coast.

Under the impact of the EMP, Gipsy Danger immediately powered down. The lights on its body flickered out, leaving it dark and lifeless.

The Jaeger’s arms, previously poised for combat, drooped limply to its sides, as though all power had been cut off.

In front of them, the massive Kaiju continued its charge.

The Jaeger was now a sitting duck, its electronic systems completely disabled by the EMP…

Could there be a more disastrous situation?

“No!!!”

The father and son cried out in unison.

In the next moment, their Jaeger, Gipsy Danger, was torn apart by Leatherback.

The two pilots met a grisly end.

After destroying Gipsy Danger, Leatherback showed no signs of stopping and charged toward the shore.

Its target was the military base ahead.

The previously injured Kaiju also resurfaced from the ocean, joining Leatherback in its assault on the human base.

The charge of these two massive Kaiju was overwhelming, like an unstoppable force.

Everything in their path was destroyed with ease.

In the face of Leatherback’s relentless onslaught, human structures crumbled like paper.

Even towering buildings made of reinforced concrete were reduced to rubble with a single charge from Leatherback.

Category 4 Kaiju were on a completely different level from their Category 3 counterparts.

Their strength, speed, defense, and destructive power were terrifying.

On the ground, many civilians who hadn’t managed to escape in time watched in horror as the Jaeger fell and the Kaiju advanced. They screamed in terror as they fled for their lives.

But no matter how fast they ran, they could never outrun Leatherback.

Very quickly, the fleeing crowd was overtaken by Leatherback.

Each step the giant Kaiju took resulted in massive casualties, like a scene straight out of hell.

Back at the base, watching Leatherback’s devastation, every military personnel’s face turned pale with terror. The fact that no one had panicked showed just how disciplined these soldiers were.

Inside the enormous control room, the only person who still maintained his composure was the commanding general, a stern-looking black man.

At that moment, the general’s eyes were fixed on the giant screen.

On the screen, Leatherback had just smashed through a shelter with one punch, instantly wiping out over a thousand civilians hiding inside.

“Where are our pilots?!” the general shouted angrily.

One of his subordinates quickly responded, “Striker Eureka and Cherno Alpha have just completed neural handshakes and are ready for deployment!”

“Then what are you waiting for?” the general roared. “Deploy them immediately! Take that beast down!”

“Yes, sir!”

The subordinate rushed off to relay the order.

Suddenly, a voice exclaimed from nearby:

“General, look at this! What is that?”

On the giant screen, through a remote surveillance feed, a person appeared.

The strange thing was that this person was floating in mid-air, with no visible equipment or means of flight.

A human flying unaided?

But how?

Meanwhile, chaos reigned in the streets below.

Everyone was running for their lives, but there was one group of six people who stood out from the panicked masses.

Unlike the terrified crowd, these six individuals were calm and composed, showing no signs of fear as they watched the giant Kaiju wreak havoc in the distance.

To remain so composed in such a situation meant one of two things: either they had nerves of steel, or they had something powerful to rely on to ensure their survival.

According to the storyline, these native Jaeger pilots would suffer heavy losses from this Kaiju’s rampage. When the time comes, that’s our chance,” said the leader of the group, a tall, burly man, as he gave orders.

“Robert, hacking into the military’s computer systems is your job. We need legitimate identities.”

“No problem,” replied a skinny white man.

This white guy specialized in computer hacking, a skill he had significantly upgraded using his reincarnation points.

Yes, these people were all reincarnators.

However, they weren’t from the C zone (China) but from another zone, and they just so happened to be here in the world of *Pacific Rim* as well.

“What if we encounter ‘competitors’?” asked a blonde woman.

By “competitors,” she meant other reincarnators.

The burly leader didn’t hesitate, “If anyone interferes with our plan, we kill them.”

He spoke with confidence. His overall strength had already reached an A-rank, which, at the 19th level of the Reincarnation Tower, made him a top-tier fighter.

The blonde woman smirked, “Let’s hope we don’t run into any unfortunate souls then.”

Just then, a black man in the group shouted, “Guys, look over there!”

The group followed his gaze and saw someone floating in mid-air, flying toward the massive Kaiju.

And it seemed like this person intended to stop the Kaiju.

The blonde woman blinked in confusion and asked, “Are there natives in this world who can fly?”

“Of course not!” replied a short man coldly. “That guy is definitely a reincarnator.”

“Damn it, a flying reincarnator… Do you think he’s strong?”

“Strong or not, we’ll know soon enough!”

The group didn’t look too happy about this development. The ability to fly was extremely rare in the Reincarnation Space, often reserved for only the most powerful reincarnators.

“What if that guy actually manages to take down the Kaiju?” the blonde woman asked, worried.

The burly leader’s expression darkened at the thought.

If that happened, their plan would be ruined before it even began.

“It’s not that easy. That’s a Category 4 Kaiju, Leatherback. Based on what we’ve learned, its defense is incredibly strong. Even a veteran A-rank reincarnator wouldn’t be able to break through its thick skin.”

“Exactly! The boss is right! Plus, no one can use special items in this instance. That guy’s being too arrogant if he thinks he can kill a Category 4 Kaiju with just his own power. He’s walking to his death!”

“Yeah, let’s just sit back and watch the show!”

The group seemed to console themselves with these words…

The person flying toward the Kaiju, of course, was Chen Ye.

Seeing Leatherback cause such destruction and realizing that the Jaegers were taking too long to arrive, Chen Ye decided it was time to stop being low-key.

Chen Ye’s ultimate plan was to destroy the Kaiju’s breeding ground. But for that, he needed high-powered explosives—something only the military controlled.

So, he had to act, defeating these two Kaiju right in front of everyone.

‘I’m sure after this battle, the people of this world will start treating me like a god,’ Chen Ye thought. ‘When that happens, asking for a nuclear warhead shouldn’t be too difficult.’

As Chen Ye approached the Kaiju, Leatherback finally noticed him.

“ROAR!”

With a deafening roar, Leatherback swatted at Chen Ye with a massive paw, thinking this tiny human would be easily crushed.

“Whoosh!”

The air hummed with the force of Leatherback’s massive paw, descending like a dark cloud, ready to crush Chen Ye.

Even a Jaeger would struggle to withstand this kind of power, let alone an unarmed human.

At this moment, everyone watching feared for Chen Ye’s life.

Just as Leatherback’s massive paw was about to strike him, Chen Ye finally moved.

Rather than dodging, he clenched his fist, assuming a striking posture.

A white aura quickly enveloped his fist.

Then…

Chen Ye punched forward, aiming directly at Leatherback’s giant paw…
