GROIKTP Chapter 606

This entry is part 529 of 534 in the series Global Reincarnation: Only i Know the Plot

A group of people suddenly appeared in the grand hall.

Leading them was an elderly man with graying hair.

The old man looked to be well into his twilight years, frail and near the end of his life.

Even so, he still exuded an extraordinary aura.

Following behind the old man was a middle-aged man who bore a striking resemblance to Cao Jingjing.

As soon as these people entered, they instantly attracted the attention of everyone present.

Cao Jingjing’s father needed no introduction—he was the chairman of Shenghui Group, the one holding the reins of power.

But the old man? He was even more formidable.

He was Cao Jingjing’s grandfather, the former president of the Lin’an Province Chamber of Commerce.

A man whose influence was so great that a mere stomp of his foot would send shockwaves through the entire business community of Lin’an.

Even Tan Dong’s father, upon meeting this old man, would have to show deference and behave as a junior.

Immediately, many guests began approaching to greet him.

“Master Cao!”

“Master Cao, good evening, my father is XXX.”

“Master Cao, I didn’t expect you to make a personal appearance…”

But the old man paid no attention to these eager faces. With his son’s help, he walked quickly to where Chen Ye was standing. Once he reached Chen Ye, he pushed his son’s hand away and bent slightly, offering a respectful bow with a smile on his face.

“I didn’t expect such an honorable guest as Mr. Chen to grace us with his presence. The Cao family has been remiss in not welcoming you properly…”

Everyone froze in shock!

Tan Dong stood there with his mouth agape, utterly stunned.

Cao Jingjing, who had just finished greeting guests and returned to the hall, wore the same expression as Tan Dong.

Around them, countless other guests were similarly wide-eyed in disbelief.

The former president of the Chamber of Commerce, a man of such high status, was bowing to a young man?

Who exactly was this young man?

Even Chen Ye himself was slightly surprised, but he quickly composed himself and returned to normal.

Chen Ye didn’t know the old man’s exact identity, but considering his age, he treated him with the appropriate respect.

“Master Cao, you’re being too kind. I’m just here to keep Yuting company and join in on the festivities,” Chen Ye said quickly, stepping forward to support the elderly man.

Chen Ye could tell from the reactions of the other guests that this old man was someone of significant importance.

Of course, no matter how important the old man was, it didn’t really matter to Chen Ye.

Still, though Chen Ye didn’t care, he decided to bring Tang Yuting into the conversation as a courtesy.

He was aware of some of the familial dynamics surrounding Tang Yuting, and he knew that her family could benefit from strong relationships.

So, he deliberately emphasized that he was here as Tang Yuting’s companion.

If it weren’t for her, he wouldn’t have come at all.

The old man was sharp, immediately catching on to Chen Ye’s subtle point. He shifted his gaze to Tang Yuting and said with a cheerful smile:

“This must be the governor’s daughter, right? Jingjing always mentioned how beautiful you are. Now that I see you, you truly are as graceful as a fairy, and you and Mr. Chen make a perfect match!”

It was clear that the old man was well aware of both Chen Ye and Tang Yuting’s identities.

As the head of the Cao family, he had to come out to greet a figure as significant as Shura himself. Ignoring such an important guest would be a grave offense.

Although Chen Ye’s age made him a junior, the weight of his reputation was impossible to overlook.

The world’s number-one warrior.

The greatest genius of the Samsara Space.

A man who possessed the power to destroy worlds.

And the one most likely to ascend to godhood in the future!

Any one of these titles alone would place Chen Ye far above the old man’s own status.

To put it bluntly, if Chen Ye were to visit another country, the head of state would likely greet him in person—if Chen Ye chose to meet them, that is.

Take Adam, for example, a near-god in the Sam Empire who didn’t even bother showing respect to the president.

And yet?

That same Adam had been beaten half to death by Shura!

Chen Ye himself might not even fully realize it yet, but he had already become the most powerful figure in the world…

“Master Cao, you flatter me,” Tang Yuting responded with grace. “My father has always said that Lin’an Province’s economy has flourished thanks to your leadership. I certainly don’t deserve such praise from someone like you.”

Her compliment was skillfully delivered.

For someone like the old man, wealth was no longer his pursuit—what he sought now was reputation and legacy.

Tang Yuting’s words hit exactly the right note, making the old man laugh heartily.

“Hahaha! You truly are the governor’s daughter… Jingjing is lucky to have such a good friend!”

The old man’s words carried a double meaning.

Chen Ye smiled but said nothing.

Tang Yuting added, “Master Cao, I’ve been classmates with Jingjing for many years, and we’ve always had a strong bond.”

“Good, good!” the old man said, clearly pleased. He then turned to Chen Ye and added, “Mr. Chen, I apologize for the lack of proper hospitality tonight. If we’re fortunate enough to host you again, I promise we’ll make up for it.”

Chen Ye waved his hand dismissively. “You’re being too polite, Master Cao. I’m just here to enjoy a meal—everything’s fine as it is.”

“Haha, Mr. Chen, you certainly speak your mind… Well then, I won’t keep you any longer. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.”

After the old man left, the guests around them finally began to recover from their shock.

Even so, many were still in disbelief.

What had they just witnessed?

The legendary Master Cao, bowing so humbly before a young man?

Not even the son of a national leader would receive such an honor!

If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, no one would have believed it.

At this moment, Tan Dong was filled with complex emotions.

From Master Cao’s attitude toward Chen Ye, it was clear that his romantic rival was someone he absolutely could not afford to offend.

This man’s background must have been far beyond anything Tan Dong had anticipated.

If he acted recklessly and offended such a figure, it wouldn’t just be him who suffered—the consequences could easily drag down his father and the entire family…

Slap!

As Tan Dong stood there, feeling conflicted, a hand landed on his shoulder.

It was Cao Jingjing.

“Tan Dong, have you given up now?”

Tan Dong remained silent for a moment before finally asking, “Can you tell me… who exactly is he?”

“I only just found out,” Cao Jingjing sighed. “He’s not from our world.”

“He’s the ruler of the Samsara Space, the world’s number one fighter—Shura!”

Tan Dong’s eyes widened in shock.

“So it’s him!”

Although Tan Dong wasn’t involved in the Samsara Space, he had definitely heard of Shura.

By now, nearly everyone in China had heard of Shura.

Videos of the “Battle of the Century” were still circulating online, showing how Shura had defeated Adam and sunk the island nation.

Tan Dong had watched those videos more than once, even admiring the man in them.

(As the battle had taken place at night, the video footage had been dark, obscuring faces.)

Knowing he had lost to such an opponent, Tan Dong felt a sense of grudging admiration.
