GROIKTP Chapter 71-80

This entry is part 9 of 534 in the series Global Reincarnation: Only i Know the Plot

“Look, someone is swimming out!”

“That guy is amazing, saving so many people!”

“Great job!”

“Has anyone called the police? Why aren’t they here yet?”

“It’s only been a few minutes. Do you expect the police to fly over?”

“An old man also made it out and saved someone.”

“That old man is incredible too!”

“I wonder how many people are still inside the bus…”

On the bridge, countless bystanders were watching the scene.

After all, such a major incident couldn’t go unnoticed.

At this moment, Chen Ye was too busy to care about what others thought.

Jiang Tao, Wen Xingyi, and the other girls were all staring at him intently.

They had been submerged for only a few dozen seconds.

In such a short time, they might have swallowed some water but hadn’t lost consciousness.

So, they were fully aware of who had saved them.

“Cough, cough!”

Chen Ye pretended to cough, awkwardly asking, “Why are you all staring at me like that?”

Jiang Tao was the first to speak, looking at Chen Ye with a hint of awe. “Old Chen, I think I saw you punch the door open with one blow…”

Wen Xingyi chimed in, “Such strength would at least be a D-level evaluation. Yet, I didn’t see you at the recruitment assembly this morning…”

One of the girls added, “And when you saved us, it didn’t seem like you used your hands!”

Another girl continued, “I saw you holding Xingyi so tightly when you saved her, but why didn’t you touch us?”

Wen Xingyi’s cheeks flushed red…

The last girl added, “Yeah, even if we’re not as pretty as Xingyi, you didn’t have to treat us so differently.”

“Speaking of being treated differently…” Jiang Tao interjected with a tone of mock resentment. “I feel like I was the one being mistreated the most. Old Chen, we’ve been brothers for years, and yet you grabbed me by the scruff of my neck to save me?”

Chen Ye felt awkward, their words making him uncomfortable.

Annoyed, he said, “Are you focusing on the wrong thing? I was saving you, remember? I couldn’t think about everything at that moment. Besides, shouldn’t you be celebrating surviving such an ordeal?”

“Speaking of which, I’m your lifesaver. Shouldn’t you be thanking me?”

One of the girls looked at Chen Ye with bright eyes, her gaze filled with a hint of desire.

“I know… Chen gege, I can’t repay your lifesaving grace. I’m willing to marry you!”

Chen Ye: “…”

Another girl scoffed, “Oh, please. We all know he’s interested in Xingyi. You should just step aside.”

Chen Ye: “…”

Wen Xingyi: “…”

Are girls these days really so bold and forward?

These young people had an amazing ability to recover. They had just been on the brink of death, and without Chen Ye, the outcome could have been tragic. Yet now, they seemed to have completely forgotten the perilous situation they were in moments ago!

Jiang Tao, watching from the side, felt both envious and curious about Chen Ye’s abilities.

“Old Chen, be honest with me. Have you entered the Tower of Reincarnation?”

“Yes!” Chen Ye nodded.

Given his strength, it was almost impossible to achieve such feats in a safe zone.

“Which floor?”

“The fourth floor!” Chen Ye lied.

“Hiss!”

Jiang Tao gasped, astonished. “Goodness, you’re even more talented than Tang Yuting from First High. I guess only the legendary Shura could outshine you in the Reincarnation Space!”

Upon hearing the name “Shura,” Wen Xingyi’s body trembled slightly, her beautiful eyes locking onto Chen Ye.

Feeling her intense gaze, Chen Ye cursed Jiang Tao internally.

Luckily, with his disguise skill, he managed to put on a humble front, waving his hand. “I can’t compare to the legendary Shura.”

Seeing Chen Ye’s genuine demeanor, Wen Xingyi’s expression turned thoughtful, clearly pondering something…

At that moment, police sirens wailed from the road by the riverbank.

Chen Ye said, “The police are here. Let’s keep things quiet… Especially you three, help me keep this under wraps.”

He was referring to the three girls he had saved using telekinesis.

In truth, it wouldn’t be a big deal if it got out. Just because he had telekinesis didn’t mean people would instantly associate him with Shura. There was no logic in that.

Even if it leaked, the worst-case scenario would be being labeled as a genius, with top-tier universities fighting over him.

After all, there were many powerful individuals in the Reincarnation Space!

If every genius were assumed to be Shura, things would be chaotic.

“No problem!!”

“I’ll just say I passed out and don’t know how I got out.”

“Yeah, that’s a good story!”

The three girls promised unanimously.

Chapter 72

After that, the police began a rescue operation.

Chen Ye and the others, being victims, were not troubled at all. The police mainly asked about the accident, avoiding questions about how they were rescued to prevent causing additional trauma to the survivors.

Soon, the black box from the bus was recovered, detailing the events leading to the accident. Everyone learned that the cause was the reckless behavior of the old woman.

When the footage from inside the bus was posted online, netizens were quick to condemn her. Many even celebrated her demise upon learning she didn’t survive:

“Serves her right!!”

“Seeing that the old woman didn’t make it up here, I’m relieved!”

“What a shame for the other innocent people…”

“Wonder how her children feel seeing these comments?”

“Respect for the dead, people. Let’s ease up a bit.”

Chen Ye and the others were taken to the hospital for check-ups. Once it was confirmed they were fine, they each went home, still wearing their soaked clothes that needed changing. The school, aware of the incident, gave them the day off.

When Chen Ye returned home, his father was still asleep. He quietly grabbed some fresh clothes and locked himself in the bathroom to take a shower. However, after finishing, he realized his clothes were now too small for his newly developed physique.

Deciding not to disturb his father, Chen Ye went to a shopping mall to buy new clothes. With over ten million in his account, he could afford to splurge. While shopping, his impressive physique attracted the attention of a saleswoman who asked for his contact details.

Chen Ye politely declined but felt secretly pleased. Not wanting to disturb his father, he spent more time wandering around the mall. Wearing a new set of clothes, Chen Ye looked more striking than a model, his powerful aura turning heads as he walked.

The entire day passed in this manner. At midnight, Chen Ye promptly appeared in the Reincarnation Space. Although he had nothing specific to do there and couldn’t enter any dungeons yet, he entered out of habit.

“You have a new communication message. Your friend ‘Ake’ invites you to a video call. Please respond promptly.”

Shortly after logging in, Chen Ye received the system notification. His heart skipped a beat seeing it was Ake…

He accepted the call, trying to appear casual. “Hey Ake, what’s up?”

Ake said, “Nothing much, Shura. I just wanted to say thank you!”

Chen Ye smirked internally. This girl is trying to test me?

“Thank me? No need for that. We’ve completed our transaction, and we don’t owe each other anything.”

Chen Ye felt puzzled. Could she really believe he was Shura just based on what Jiang Tao said?

“Okay…” Ake was silent for a moment before asking, “Shura, when are you doing your next dungeon run?”

“In five days. Why, do you want me to take you through one?”

“Would you wait for me to catch up?”

“Of course… not!”

Ake: “…”

“By the way, I heard some people are planning to target you in the next dungeon to claim One Autumn Leaf’s bounty. Be careful.”

Hearing this, Chen Ye’s eyes flickered, and he sneered, “Great, I was worried no one would come. It would’ve been too boring otherwise!”

Chen Ye wasn’t boasting. Among reincarnators of the same level, no one was his match!

With his current strength, he was one of the top fighters within the first ten floors of the Reincarnation Tower.

“Thanks for the warning, little Ake.”

“Could you please stop calling me ‘little’ Ake?”

“Sure, little Ake.”

“Never mind…” Ake suddenly said, “Don’t forget you’re treating us to dinner tomorrow. Remember to invite me!”

Here we go again!!

Chen Ye chuckled internally. Wen Xingyi was still a bit too inexperienced for this game.

“Dinner?”

Chen Ye feigned surprise. “You want me to treat you to dinner tomorrow? Sure, I’ll be at XX City. If you come, I’ll treat you to dinner. We can do more than just eat; we could have a deeper conversation…”

“… Goodbye!!”

Ake, frustrated that her plan didn’t work, ended the call abruptly.

Chen Ye laughed to himself. That’s it?

Then, he ordered, “System, take me to my personal world!”

His personal world was the “Great Wall” world. After conquering this dungeon, it became his personal world, accessible only to him.

[Note: It’s recommended that Reincarnator ‘Shura’ does not stay in the personal world for more than 24 hours. After 24 hours, the personal world’s time will synchronize with reality…]

At the Great Wall.

Chen Ye suddenly appeared, startling the nearby guards.

Once they recognized him, they relaxed.

“It’s Mr. Chen! Mr. Chen has returned!”

“Mr. Chen!”

“Hello, Mr. Chen!”

Many soldiers saluted Chen Ye, their expressions filled with admiration as if seeing a hero.

“No need for formalities… Where’s the commander?”

“He’s in the council hall!” a soldier answered.

Chen Ye nodded but didn’t move. He wasn’t there to chat with Commander Shao.

Remembering the system’s earlier warning, Chen Ye asked, “How long have I been gone?”

“A day, Mr. Chen. You left yesterday morning, and now it’s morning again. Roughly a day,” the soldier replied.

A day?

That matches the real-world time.

After pondering for a moment, Chen Ye finally understood the time relationship between the personal dungeon world and the real world.

As long as he didn’t stay in the personal world for over 24 hours…

Time in the real world would only move forward by an hour.

After leaving, the timelines would immediately sync up.

Relieved by this realization, Chen Ye asked, “Where is General Lin Mei?”

The soldier’s eyes twinkled with amusement as he replied, “She’s also in the council hall!!”

————————

Chapter 73

Upon learning that Chen Ye had returned, Commander Shao and the others were pleasantly surprised.

But the most delighted person was General Lin Mei. Since Chen Ye’s departure, she had been anxious and dispirited, not realizing how deeply he had affected her.

“Was your journey successful?” Commander Shao asked.

“Everything went smoothly,” Chen Ye replied politely, but his gaze remained fixed on General Lin Mei.

Commander Shao and Strategist Wang exchanged glances, both smiling knowingly.

Commander Shao then said with a chuckle, “General Lin, you take care of our guest.”

Blushing, Lin Mei didn’t refuse and saluted, “Yes, sir!”

The two then spent the entire day exploring the Great Wall, enjoying each other’s company. Chen Ye couldn’t help but appreciate the ancient times where even a strong woman like Lin Mei became gentle and affectionate with her loved one, unlike modern women who often seemed more crass.

The day passed quickly in the “Great Wall” world. By evening, Chen Ye escorted Lin Mei back to her quarters.

“Xiao Mei, I have to go now. I’ll come see you the day after tomorrow.”

“Okay, Chen Ge, be safe!”

After spending the day together, their relationship had warmed considerably. Although they hadn’t explicitly confessed their feelings, they were as close as a couple, addressing each other more intimately.

After promising to meet again in two days, Chen Ye vanished from the personal world and returned to the Reincarnation Space.

In the Reincarnation Space, Chen Ye immediately went to the Inquiry Hall, also known as the Newcomer’s Guide Room, where many small fairy could answer any questions about the Reincarnation Space.

As soon as Chen Ye entered, a fairy approached him.

“Welcome, Reincarnator ‘Shura.’ How can I assist you today?”

“Can I bring items into my personal world?” Chen Ye asked.

“Of course,” the sprite confirmed. “The personal world belongs solely to the Reincarnator and isn’t subject to the Reincarnation Space’s item management rules.”

“However, non-special items brought into the Reincarnation Space must be cleared within three hours. If they are not cleared within this time, they will be confiscated by the Reincarnation Space. Please keep this in mind, Reincarnator ‘Shura.'”

Delighted by the sprite’s confirmation, Chen Ye’s eyes lit up. He planned to bring modern gifts next time he visited Lin Mei, or perhaps even a betrothal gift to make things official.

If he kept taking her out without formalizing their relationship, it would ruin her reputation, especially in the conservative society of the “Great Wall” world. An engagement would make things different.

Yes! He decided to buy a betrothal gift tomorrow.

Returning to the real world, it was already past 1 AM. Chen Ye fell into a deep, satisfying sleep.

Meanwhile, Wen Xingyi had just logged out but couldn’t sleep. She had a strong feeling that the Chen Ye who saved her and Shura from the Reincarnation Space might be connected.

However, without Shura’s admission and with Chen Ye denying it, she had no proof. She understood why Shura would want to keep his identity a secret, considering his fame and the many people looking for him, including powerful enemies.

Wen Xingyi resolved not to speak out, to avoid bringing trouble to Shura.

Chen Ye woke up refreshed, his alarm clock bringing him out of his slumber. After washing up, he saw his father had returned from his night shift.

“Didn’t I tell you to quit your job? Why are you still working nights?” Chen Ye asked.

Chen’s father smiled sheepishly. “Boss Wang has been good to me. He’s short on staff and asked me to stay a few more days until he finds someone else.”

Chen Ye frowned. “What if he can’t find someone and keeps you indefinitely?”

“He promised it wouldn’t be more than a month,” his father assured him. Then, looking Chen Ye up and down, he remarked, “You’ve grown so much taller! You used to be just half a head taller than me, but now you’re almost a full head taller…”

He had noticed a significant change in his son’s aura, which now carried a powerful confidence.

“It’s normal at my age. You probably didn’t notice because we rarely see each other,” Chen Ye lied smoothly.

“Is that so?” His father felt a pang of guilt. “I should have been there more for you.”

“I didn’t mean it like that. I just want you to have a healthier job. You’re not young anymore and can’t keep working nights.”

“You’re right. I’ll listen to you,” his father nodded.

Chen Ye, satisfied, said, “You rest well. I’m off to school.”

At school, for the first time, no one was talking about Shura. The internet had also moved on, and everything seemed back to normal.

As soon as he sat down, Jiang Tao excitedly said, “Chen, a girl from the neighboring class asked if you’re treating them to lunch today. If you are, they’ll all come, including Wen Xingyi!”

“Do you have enough money? Treating that many people will cost at least six or seven hundred. I can lend you some if you need.”

Chen Ye sighed, realizing he couldn’t avoid this lunch.

“I have enough… By the way, how are we getting there? Taking the bus?”

Jiang Tao’s face turned pale, and he quickly shook his head. “No way, I’m never taking the bus again!”

Chen Ye laughed heartily.

—————————-

Chapter 74

-Noon-

Everyone gathered at the restaurant once again. This time, Chen Ye was treating. Jiang Tao was so excited that he could hardly hold his chopsticks steady. To sit at the same table as the school flower was something he had never dared to dream of.

Chen Ye, on the other hand, seemed quite natural. In his eyes, Wen Xingyi was indeed very pretty, not any less attractive than General Lin Mei. However, she was still just a young girl. The girls noticed the difference between Chen Ye and Jiang Tao, finding Chen Ye’s calm demeanor even more appealing.

The meal was very enjoyable, especially for Jiang Tao. After eating, the girls wanted to go shopping before heading back. With the final exams approaching, the teachers had loosened their grip on the senior students, allowing them more freedom.

Seeing the girls wanted to shop, Jiang Tao considered joining them but decided against it when he saw Chen Ye leaving. Reluctantly, he followed Chen Ye.

“Chen, why didn’t you stay with them?” Jiang Tao asked.

“I’m not interested,” Chen Ye replied.

“Damn, now I know why you’re single!”

“And it seems like you have a girlfriend?”

“…”

Back at school, Chen Ye didn’t head to the classroom but instead walked towards the teachers’ building.

“Where are you going, Chen?” Jiang Tao asked.

“I’m asking for leave!”

Chen Ye intended to buy some gold and silver jewelry and other betrothal gifts to formalize his relationship with Lin Mei that night.

The leave request went smoothly. Chen Ye used the excuse that he had hit his head when the bus fell into the river and was feeling dizzy. His homeroom teacher immediately approved.

Chen Ye then left school and went on a shopping spree at the mall. Besides gold and silver jewelry, he bought various modern crafts, packing several large bags full. He even bought a watch as a small gift for Commander Shao, considering that Shao could be seen as his future father-in-law if things went well with Lin Mei.

This shopping spree cost Chen Ye over two hundred thousand yuan!

Before midnight, Chen Ye stored everything he had bought in his personal storage. Then, as soon as it struck midnight, he entered the Reincarnation Space and had the system send him to his personal world.

**In the “Great Wall” world.**

When Chen Ye appeared out of thin air again, the soldiers on duty were no longer as surprised.

“Mr. Chen, you’re here!”

Before Chen Ye could ask, the soldier reported proactively, “General Lin is training the Crane Army on the drill ground.”

Chen Ye couldn’t help but knock the soldier on the head lightly, saying, “I didn’t ask where General Lin is! Where’s Commander Shao?”

The soldier rubbed his head and chuckled, “The commander is in the council hall, reading an imperial decree sent by the court!”

“Oh?”

Chen Ye was slightly surprised but thought it made sense that the court’s rewards should have arrived by now.

He then proceeded to the council hall.

Upon entering, Chen Ye saw a joyful Commander Shao and the others, along with a young man in official attire.

“Mr. Chen, you came at the right time!”

Seeing Chen Ye, Commander Shao smiled and said, “Mr. Chen, this is Special Envoy Shen from the Privy Council.”

“Envoy Shen, this is Mr. Chen Ye, the hero who saved everyone by single-handedly capturing the Taotie King!”

“Oh?”

Envoy Shen was startled, then respectfully bowed, “So you are Mr. Chen. You are indeed a rare talent. His Majesty has always wanted to meet you.”

In the original plot, this envoy had been very arrogant. His respectful attitude toward Chen Ye now was because he had heard rumors that Chen Ye might be from the immortal realm.

Chen Ye smiled, “I brought some special items from my hometown to share with everyone. Since Envoy Shen is here, you are welcome to take part as well!”

With that, Chen Ye began taking out the items he had bought from his personal storage, making it appear as if he conjured them from thin air.

This magical display left Envoy Shen so stunned that he nearly knelt in awe.

“Immortal!”

Seeing Shen’s astonished expression, Chen Ye laughed inwardly. He had purposely shown this trick to intimidate Shen, who in the original plot was difficult to deal with and treated others, even Commander Shao, with disdain.

Since Lin Mei still had to live here, Chen Ye didn’t want anyone troubling her.

Chen Ye then took out the beautifully packaged gift boxes, handing one to each person. Modern crafts’ packaging looked exceptionally high-end to these ancient people.

“Come on, everyone gets one. Don’t refuse or feel it’s beneath you,” Chen Ye said with a smile.

Envoy Shen wiped his hands before carefully accepting the box, exclaiming, “Mr. Chen, how could I disdain such a precious gift?”

Following Chen Ye’s guidance, everyone opened their boxes to find a wristwatch inside. It wasn’t expensive, only a few hundred yuan each, but it was very exquisite.

The most impressive part was that the watch’s time numbers were represented by ancient Chinese characters for the twelve traditional time periods: Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu, Hai.

Seeing this, Chen Ye had thought the watches were perfect gifts for these ancient people.

“What is this?” Commander Shao couldn’t help but ask.

“It’s a watch to keep track of time!” Chen Ye demonstrated how to use it. “Look at the dial in the middle. The characters represent the twelve traditional time periods. Once set, it follows the sunrise and rotates, making it convenient to check the time.”

The group quickly understood the watch’s function and its enormous value. Envoy Shen, wearing the watch on his wrist, couldn’t help but exclaim, “This is truly a masterpiece of craftsmanship!”

Commander Shao and the others were also in awe, cherishing their watches. Many even thought of passing them down as family heirlooms.

Chen Ye laughed and, as if remembering something, took out another watch gift box and handed it to Envoy Shen. “This is for the emperor. Please pass it on for me.”

He had bought a few extra watches, just in case.

Envoy Shen accepted the box with both hands and asked, “Why doesn’t Mr. Chen deliver it personally? If you do, His Majesty would be greatly pleased and would surely reward you heavily.”

Chen Ye shook his head, interrupting Shen. “I can’t stay long in this world, so I can’t go to Bianliang.”

“Is that so?”

Envoy Shen looked at Commander Shao and the others, who all nodded in agreement, so he dropped the subject.

Chen Ye then took out several more gifts, distributing them among the group. This time, it was telescopes, which were even cheaper.

To ensure his future father-in-law’s satisfaction, Chen Ye had put a lot of thought into these gifts.

Seeing more gifts, Envoy Shen was delighted and asked curiously, “What is this?”

“This is a telescope. It helps you see farther,” Chen Ye explained with a smile.

The group tried the telescopes and was amazed at how clearly they could see distant objects.

Especially Commander Shao and the other military men, who immediately recognized the strategic advantage of such a tool.

“This device has the power of a thousand-mile eye, allowing us to see enemy deployments and predict their movements. In battle, having this is invaluable,” Commander Shao said, deeply impressed.

Commander Shao, being shrewd, sensed that Chen Ye’s generosity had a purpose. He smiled and asked, “Mr. Chen, with all these thoughtful gifts, you must have a request.”

“Indeed!”

Chen Ye took out the betrothal gifts from his personal storage and said, “General Lin and I have a deep connection. I wish to marry her and seek your approval.”

His wording was awkward and didn’t follow ancient customs, but Commander Shao didn’t mind, knowing Chen Ye was unfamiliar with their traditions.

Commander Shao and Strategist Wang exchanged smiles. Commander Shao said, “Since you ask, I will certainly approve.”

Envoy Shen, understanding the situation, quickly added, “What a pleasant surprise! I didn’t expect to attend a wedding here. Congratulations, Mr. Chen!”

“Thank you, Envoy Shen.”

Commander Shao ordered, “Summon General Lin!”

“Yes, sir!”

A soldier went to fetch Lin Mei.

Chen Ye then took out a digital camera, smiling, “Let’s take a photo together to commemorate this moment.”

The group was puzzled.

“What do you mean by ‘photo’?” Envoy Shen asked, curious.

“Commander, Envoy Shen, Strategist, and all the generals, please gather closer. Let’s take a group photo.”

Although they were confused, they followed his instructions.

Chen Ye set the camera’s timer and joined the group, standing tall behind them.

“Click!”

A group photo was quickly taken.

When Chen Ye showed the photo to everyone, they were astounded. Envoy Shen, in particular, exclaimed repeatedly, “Is this some kind of sorcery? Has my soul been captured?”

———————

Chapter 75

Those who had never seen a camera before were utterly amazed by the photographs.

Hearing Shen Daren’s words, everyone was equally astonished.

Superstition was widespread in ancient times. They already suspected Chen Ye was from the celestial realm and genuinely feared the camera might be some kind of magical artifact capable of capturing souls.

Seeing the panic among the crowd, Chen Ye laughed heartily and quickly explained, “Everyone, don’t worry, your souls are all intact! This is a camera, a technological product from my homeland, specifically designed for taking pictures. It can capture people’s images as they are now, so that in old age, you can look back at these photos and reminisce about the past. Isn’t that a pleasure?”

“This really isn’t a magical device?” Shen Daren asked, still somewhat terrified.

“Of course not!” Chen Ye laughed and asked, “Shen Daren, do you feel any discomfort?”

Shen Daren paused, carefully sensing his body, and then shook his head.

“There you have it!” Chen Ye laughed, “If your soul had been captured, could you still be feeling fine?”

“That makes sense!” Commander Shao nodded beside him. He didn’t believe Chen Ye would harm anyone. After all, Chen Ye had risked his life to save everyone by single-handedly killing the Taotie King. Such a heroic figure could not possibly do something harmful.

Commander Shao readily agreed to Chen Ye’s proposal because he trusted Chen Ye’s character.

Seeing that Shen Daren was still somewhat doubtful, Chen Ye handed the camera to him.

“Shen Daren, this is the lens, and this is the shutter button. Point the lens at any scenery and press the shutter button to take a photo. Try it.”

Under Chen Ye’s guidance, Shen Daren learned how to use the camera. He pointed it outside and took a picture.

“Click!”

Another photo was taken.

When Shen Daren looked at the photograph, which showed a scene identical to the one outside, he couldn’t help but exclaim, “This… this is truly a divine artifact!”

Chen Ye laughed, “If Shen Daren likes it, this camera is yours.”

Then he turned to everyone else and said, “Cameras are rare; I don’t have many. I won’t be able to give one to everyone.”

Actually, he had two more in his personal storage. He said this to make the cameras seem even more precious.

Hearing this, Shen Daren’s eyes sparkled with joy. Though he was thrilled, he still feigned modesty, “I can’t accept such a precious gift without earning it. Chen Ye, you should keep it.”

Chen Ye smiled, “No need to be polite, Shen Daren. Once you return, please speak well of me to the emperor and ensure that the officials don’t trouble the Wuying Army’s soldiers.”

Hearing this, Commander Shao, Strategist Wang, and the others were deeply moved, looking at Chen Ye with even more appreciation.

“Certainly! Certainly!” Shen Daren promised repeatedly, then happily put the camera into his sleeve.

Chen Ye reminded, “Shen Daren, this camera has limited uses. Each can take ten photos, and now there are only eight left. Please use them wisely.”

This camera was a Polaroid camera, which could immediately produce photos. Polaroid cameras usually come with ten shots per film pack.

Of course, once the film is used up, it can be replaced with a new pack to reuse the camera.

Chen Ye didn’t bother explaining this, simply reminding him of the limited uses.

“Understood. Thank you for the reminder, Chen Ye!”

Shen Daren, very polite, bowed deeply. He now truly believed Chen Ye was from the celestial realm. Otherwise, how could Chen Ye have so many rare treasures, each with magical properties?

A moment later, General Lin Mei arrived. She seemed slightly out of breath, having likely run all the way there.

As soon as she entered the hall, Lin Mei saw Chen Ye, feeling sweetness in her heart.

“General Lin, Mr. Chen wishes to propose to you. What do you think?” Commander Shao asked, smiling.

Commander Shao’s direct question made Lin Mei’s face instantly turn red. Luckily, she was of a strong character. Any other young lady from a noble family would have wanted to crawl into a hole.

“I… I agree!”

Those words were spoken with great difficulty. After saying them, she lowered her head, playing dead.

Asking a young lady to say such things publicly was indeed very difficult!

Hearing this, Chen Ye smiled happily.

“Mr. Chen and General Lin are indeed a perfect match…” Envoy Shen immediately began to flatter them.

Suddenly, Envoy Shen had an idea, “Mr. Chen, General Lin, if your wedding date is not set, why not wait until I return to Bianliang and petition the emperor to have the Minister of Celestial Observations select an auspicious date for your wedding, which the emperor can then approve?”

In ancient times, people were very superstitious and respected imperial authority. An imperial marriage decree was considered a great honor.

Envoy Shen’s suggestion was a gesture of goodwill to curry favor with Chen Ye.

Chen Ye had not yet set a wedding date and thought having the emperor’s blessing would be good. It would make it clear that General Lin Mei was his woman, deterring any potential troublemakers.

Thinking this through, Chen Ye smiled and said, “Thank you, Envoy Shen.”

“It’s no trouble at all,” Shen Daren replied with a smile. “To contribute to Mr. Chen’s wedding is my honor, and I hope to share in your happiness!”

Everyone laughed.

The atmosphere in the hall was very harmonious.

Though Lin Mei’s face was still red, she felt incredibly happy.

Afterward, a betrothal feast was held. Envoy Shen stayed to drink the engagement wine before departing for Bianliang City.

The engagement ceremony concluded, and Chen Ye and Lin Mei were officially betrothed.

From that day on, General Lin Mei was Chen Ye’s woman.

In the following days, Chen Ye attended classes during the day and secretly visited the personal world at night to meet with Lin Mei. Their relationship quickly deepened, and they nearly took their relationship to the next level, if not for adhering to traditional boundaries.

Days passed quickly.

Finally, the cooldown period for the next instance arrived.

Chapter 76

Chen Ye can finally continue his dungeon run.

The whole day, Chen Ye was at school, feeling distracted and out of sorts.

Finally.

He made it through the last class of the day.

“Ding ding ding!”

As the school bell rang, all the students sprang into action, ready to leave.

Chen Ye stood up as well, began packing his things, locked his books in his desk, and prepared to leave.

At this moment.

A commotion suddenly erupted at the classroom door.

“It’s Wen Xingyi…”

“What’s she doing in our classroom?”

Everyone exclaimed in surprise.

It turned out Wen Xingyi, the school belle, didn’t leave after school but instead came to the neighboring class.

Recognized as the school’s beauty, Wen Xingyi attracted attention wherever she went.

Especially among hormone-driven high school boys, Wen Xingyi’s appearance sparked even more fascination.

So.

When Wen Xingyi appeared in the neighboring class, she immediately caught everyone’s attention.

Then.

Under countless gazes, Wen Xingyi walked straight up to Chen Ye and handed him an invitation.

“Chen Ye, tomorrow is my birthday. I’d like to invite you to my birthday party. Can you come?”

After speaking, Wen Xingyi looked at Chen Ye with hopeful eyes.

Actually.

She wasn’t really into Chen Ye.

She was just curious about him, thinking he might be the mysterious “Shura.”

Holding the invitation, Chen Ye was stunned.

Everyone around him was stunned too.

Then.

It felt like everyone heard the sound of hearts shattering.

Countless boys’ hearts broke because of Wen Xingyi’s gesture…

The revered school belle, in front of so many people, blocked a boy and invited him to her birthday party the next night!

When everyone came back to their senses, they were in disbelief.

For three years in high school, Wen Xingyi had always been cold to any boy who approached her.

Even the wealthy and handsome Zhang Tao, who once confessed to Wen Xingyi with a row of sports cars, was ignored by her!

After that, rumors spread that Wen Xingyi was unapproachable.

However!

Today, this aloof Wen Xingyi actively invited a boy to her birthday party…

Many boys who secretly liked Wen Xingyi felt their worldview and hearts shatter together.

Countless envious and jealous eyes turned to Chen Ye, wondering what was so special about him.

If looks could kill, Chen Ye would be riddled with holes…

Finally.

Chen Ye moved.

Under the envious stares, he took the invitation and smiled, “If I have time tomorrow, I’ll come!”

Hearing this, many people wanted to vomit blood, wishing they could punch Chen Ye in the face.

The school belle personally invited him, and he still had to check if he had time?

Such arrogance!!

If it were them, they would go even if they got into an accident!

But what they didn’t know was that Chen Ye actually wanted to refuse Wen Xingyi.

He wasn’t trying to be arrogant.

He was currently in a passionate relationship with Lin Mei, and she was all he thought about. He had no interest in other girls for now.

Moreover, getting close to a girl like Wen Xingyi often meant trouble!

Chen Ye just wanted to develop quietly, avoiding trouble.

He didn’t refuse outright just to save Wen Xingyi’s face!!

Refusing a girl’s invitation in front of so many people would surely embarrass her.

Chen Ye, mature at heart, didn’t want to do anything insensitive, even if he wasn’t keen on going to Wen Xingyi’s birthday party.

“The invitation has my address and phone number. If you can come, you must come!”

“If you can’t make it, text me in advance!”

After saying this, Wen Xingyi turned and left the classroom.

Chen Ye shook his head helplessly, put the invitation in his pocket, and also left the classroom.

He knew this girl was still suspicious that he might be Shura…

Such a stubborn girl!!

At home.

Chen’s father was still at work.

Chen Ye made himself something to eat, and then…

He started writing a will!!

The dungeon world of “The Eternal Evil of Asia” was full of danger, and Chen Ye wasn’t entirely sure he would come back alive.

So he wrote a will, noting down his bank card password.

In case something happened to him and he couldn’t return, his father wouldn’t be left in a difficult situation with the money…

Of course…

This was just a precaution.

Chen Ye was still confident about tonight’s dungeon run.

The ghost Chu Renmei was formidable!

But he wasn’t weak either!

With his current strength, it wouldn’t be easy for Chu Renmei to kill him.

Most importantly, he knew the plot and how to subdue Chu Renmei!

After finishing his will.

Chen Ye lay on the bed, conserving his energy.

He needed to be in the best state to face the ghost Chu Renmei!!

At midnight.

The alarm rang.

Chen Ye opened his eyes and immediately pressed the tattoo on his wrist.

A few seconds later.

He disappeared from his room, arriving in the Reincarnation Space.

“System, send me to the Reincarnation Tower!”

With the command given, Chen Ye was instantly transported to the Reincarnation Tower.

He glanced at the nearby leaderboard of top players and walked straight into the tower without looking back.

This time.

He went directly to the second floor.

He had already cleared the first floor and could no longer enter it.

A little fairy appeared out of nowhere beside him.

“Hello, esteemed reincarnator ‘Shura,’ how can I assist you?”

“I’m here to run a dungeon!” Chen Ye replied.

“Okay, please choose your dungeon world.”

With a wave of the fairy’s hand, a holographic screen appeared before Chen Ye.

The screen displayed two dungeon worlds:

“Kung Fu Jungle” (Easy)

“The Eternal Evil of Asia” (Nightmare)

Without hesitation, Chen Ye chose the nightmare-level “The Eternal Evil of Asia”!

As soon as Chen Ye made his choice, he was transported to a white room.

The room was empty.

He was the only one there.

On the surrounding walls, a countdown was ticking away.

There were 56 minutes left before the dungeon world would open.

Chen Ye sat down and waited patiently.

About ten minutes later, the second person was transported into the room.

Then the third, fourth, fifth…

Half an hour later.

The room was filled with over a dozen people.

A nightmare-level dungeon wouldn’t have so many brave people willing to take it on…

Chen Ye opened his eyes, a slight smile on his face.

“Here for me? Interesting!!”

————————-

Chapter 77

“Attention all Reincarnators, the task world transmission will begin in 10 minutes…”

With this system prompt, it was clear that no more newcomers would enter the white room, which served as the preparation room.

At this moment.

Including Chen Ye, the room had gathered nearly 20 people.

Although these people remained silent, standing far apart like strangers, Chen Ye could tell from their expressions and occasional glances that they were all here for him…

Smiling slightly, Chen Ye said nothing.

Time ticked by slowly…

10 minutes passed quickly.

The system’s voice rang out again:

“Transmission countdown begins, 10, 9, 8… 3, 2, 1!”

As the countdown ended.

Everyone in the white room was enveloped in red light and disappeared.

In a residential house in Port City.

Suddenly.

With a flash of red light, about twenty people appeared out of nowhere.

All the reincarnators, including Chen Ye, appeared simultaneously in the living room of the house.

In the center of the living room, there was a long table.

On it were twenty glasses of water.

Then, a cold, mechanical voice announced: “Please drink a glass of water within 30 seconds, or be obliterated!”

After the prompt, everyone was stunned, their eyes fixed on the water glasses, lost in thought.

No one moved.

Chen Ye suddenly laughed and said, “There’s only 30 seconds, when are you planning to act?”

As soon as he spoke, everyone was startled.

The next moment.

Everyone rushed to the table, each grabbing a glass of water.

One person, pretending to be clumsy, knocked over a glass of water!

Splash!

The water spilled all over the floor.

It’s known that the system prepared exactly the right amount of water for everyone, one glass per person, no extras.

If one glass was spilled, someone would inevitably be left without, and after the 30-second countdown, that person would be obliterated by the system!!

And the only person without a glass now was Chen Ye.

The one who spilled the glass glanced at Chen Ye with a smirk, then raised his own glass to drink.

However!!

The next moment.

The person froze.

Because.

His glass was completely empty.

Where’s the water??

He quickly looked around and finally saw where the water went…

The glass of water that belonged to him was eerily floating in mid-air, then quickly poured into Chen Ye’s mouth.

Only Chen Ye’s telekinesis could do this!!

Chen Ye drank it in one gulp, smacked his lips, and remarked, “No taste, just regular tap water!”

But Chen Ye knew that drinking this glass meant drinking a curse.

A curse from an evil spirit!

“You…you drank my water?” The person was both shocked and furious, glaring at Chen Ye with eyes like burning coals.

Chen Ye calmly replied, “No! Your glass was already knocked over by you!!”

“I’m going to kill you!!”

That person, filled with venomous hatred, shouted and charged at Chen Ye.

In response, Chen Ye merely raised his hand slightly…

Buzz!

Telekinesis activated.

Instantly, an invisible force ensnared the attacker.

He felt like he was trapped in a swamp, unable to move, let alone charge at Chen Ye.

“What…what have you done to me?” The person asked in horror.

Chen Ye smiled and said, “I’ve always wondered how the system obliterates someone. You can show us today!”

Just as he finished speaking, the person opposite let out a sudden scream, his face changing dramatically, as if in extreme pain.

The 30-second countdown had ended, and the system was obliterating him!

Then, his body began to slowly disintegrate…

Chen Ye wasn’t wrong; it was indeed disintegration, like paper burning and turning to ashes.

True disintegration.

In just a few breaths, the person who spilled the water completely vanished, turning into a pile of ashes on the ground.

Everyone’s face changed, feeling a deep fear for the system’s power!

The system’s voice timely announced:

“Attention: Task release!”

“Main Task: Survive for 72 hours!”

“Task Duration: 72 hours.”

“Note: The curse from the evil spirit has begun. Good luck!”

This task was very simple: survive for three days.

There was no mention of punishment for failure…

Of course, failing this task naturally meant death, so no further punishment was needed.

The task had begun.

At this point, everyone should find a safe place to survive the task.

However, no one in the living room moved.

Chen Ye smiled lightly and said, “I’m in a hurry! If you don’t make a move, I’m leaving!”

Hearing this, everyone exchanged glances and then dropped their pretenses, slowly closing in on Chen Ye, surrounding him.

“So, you saw through us from the start?”

“Shura, don’t blame us, blame yourself for messing with the wrong people!”

“Shura, end it yourself! At least it’ll be quick and painless!”

Chen Ye had no interest in their nonsense and responded indifferently, “You talk too much, can’t you just get on with it?”

“Shura, you’re courting death! Brothers, attack!!”

With that, most of the reincarnators rushed at Chen Ye.

Some, however, stepped back, hoping to take advantage of the chaos.

Clearly, these reincarnators, though banded together to kill Chen Ye, weren’t truly united!

Buzz!

Telekinesis activated.

Countless blades flew from Chen Ye, cutting down the reincarnators.

Those who had just made it to the second floor of the Reincarnation Tower were not very strong, with most having a “D” rating. They lacked powers, and many didn’t even possess special items.

Someone as powerful as Chen Ye was rare!

If they were stronger, they wouldn’t rely on numbers to ambush Chen Ye.

Unfortunately.

Against absolute strength, numbers meant little!

These reincarnators, without any powers, couldn’t withstand Chen Ye’s flying blades.

“Slash! Slash! Slash!”

In one wave, over a dozen people fell to the ground, clutching their bleeding throats, staring at Chen Ye in disbelief.

They clearly hadn’t expected Shura to be this strong.

So many of them couldn’t even get close before more than half were dead!

The remaining survivors were terrified.

Then.

They fled without looking back…

————————

Chapter 78

“Insane!”

“You’re all insane!!”

“Going after someone this powerful, and you even dragged me into this? Damn it…”

Someone completely lost it, retreating while shouting!

They were terrified of Shura!

Initially, they thought Shura was at most a C-level.

They organized nearly 20 D-level strong individuals to ambush Shura, thinking it was foolproof.

However.

They never expected Shura to be a powerful psychic!!

Psychic abilities!

In the Reincarnation Space, these are the hardest abilities to obtain.

Their rarity far surpasses that of Devil Fruits!

Because Devil Fruits have many weaknesses, like being vulnerable to seawater and Haki.

But psychic abilities have no such limitations; only another psychic can counter a psychic!

Most importantly, psychic abilities cannot be traded and are obtained only through dungeon rewards, making them extremely rare!!

The reason they determined Shura was a psychic and not a Devil Fruit user was because Shura had only reached the second floor.

To get a Devil Fruit, one must conquer the third floor’s “One Piece” dungeon.

Of course.

Devil Fruits can also be obtained through trading.

But given the bizarre abilities Shura just displayed, even if it were a Devil Fruit, it would be an extremely rare type, one you wouldn’t trade away.

“Run? Can you even run?”

Chen Ye snorted coldly, sending a few flying blades to continue reaping lives.

Since these people dared to ambush him, they should be prepared to leave their lives here!

Under the pursuit of the flying blades, the remaining few were all taken down!

Chen Ye left one person alive.

The one who had lost it and cursed loudly.

Seeing Shura approaching, the man screamed, “Ah! Ah! Shura, it wasn’t my idea, it was the Great Demon King who organized us, connected us to deal with you.”

His Achilles tendons had been cut by the flying blades; he couldn’t run even if he wanted to.

Chen Ye paused: “Who is the Great Demon King?”

“That one!” The man pointed to a corpse on the ground.

Chen Ye’s face twitched, speechless.

He thought someone daring to use that name should be formidable!

Turns out it was just a nobody!

“Now, I ask, you answer. Get one word wrong, and you’ll end up like them!”

“Alright! Alright! Shura, I’ll tell you everything you want to know!” The man nodded vigorously.

“You came to kill me? For the Devil Fruit bounty by Yiye Zhiqiu, right?”

“Yes, yes!”

Chen Ye asked curiously, “With one Devil Fruit, how were you planning to split it among so many people?”

“The Devil Fruit was for the Great Demon King, but he promised to compensate us with some less valuable special items later,” the man explained.

Chen Ye nodded and continued, “How did you know I was running this dungeon today?”

The man immediately replied, “After Yiye Zhiqiu issued the bounty, the Great Demon King started organizing people. We, who were also on the second floor, took shifts waiting at the Reincarnation Tower entrance every night. When we saw you…”

Hearing this, Chen Ye’s questions were answered.

“Good, thanks for cooperating!”

“Shura, please, I swear I’ll never cross paths with you again…”

“Cross paths?” Chen Ye asked puzzled, “Did I say I’d let you leave alive?”

“What?! Shura, you didn’t…”

Chen Ye said expressionlessly, “I only promised you wouldn’t die as painfully as them. Rest in peace!”

With that, a flying blade appeared, piercing through the man’s brain.

He didn’t feel any pain and collapsed lifelessly.

These flying blades were crafted by General Wu in the “Great Wall” world, extremely effective.

Chen Ye planned to have more made by General Wu on his next visit…

Thus.

The reincarnators who entered the “The Eternal Evil of Asia” dungeon were almost entirely wiped out before the task even began, leaving only Chen Ye.

The ground was covered in blood.

The living room reeked of blood.

Chen Ye didn’t want to stay here any longer and prepared to carry out his plan to counter the ghost.

However.

Just as Chen Ye lifted his foot, a chilling wind blew through the living room.

The cold wind was bone-chilling, even making Chen Ye, with his physical strength, feel a coldness seeping in.

“Crack!”

The living room window suddenly blew open.

“Boom!”

The previously clear weather changed abruptly, with lightning and thunder, and torrential rain poured in through the window.

Seeing this, Chen Ye’s eyes flashed, and he immediately stopped moving.

“The true ghost doesn’t need to appear to kill; it can silently take lives in hallucinations… Humans face utter despair against ghosts. But that doesn’t include me!”

Chen Ye’s eyes shone brightly.

He exuded an aura of unwavering courage!!

Buzz!!

Armament Haki covered his entire body.

“Chu Renmei, since you’re here, why not show yourself?” Chen Ye called out loudly.

The living room seemed empty with only Chen Ye.

It looked like he was talking to the air.

But the next moment.

A woman’s singing echoed in the room…

“In the moment of joy, the lover’s heart breaks.”

“The moon knows my grievances, parting is easy, meeting is hard.”

“Now a deserted woman regrets too late, do you remember the happiness of the phoenix?”

“Do you recall the promises broken, the love now gone, the fatherless child left behind?”

“Guess, my love!”

“Do you know I’ve fallen ill from heartbreak?”

“Soon, I’ll die from sorrow!”

The song was from an old Cantonese opera, “Selling Meat to Raise an Orphan.”

However, this female voice was terrifying. Hearing it sing like this made one’s blood run cold!

But the singer remained unseen!

This unseen terror was even more frightening!!

Most reincarnators would be scared out of their wits and flee.

But Chen Ye remained calm, showing no sign of panic.

He had used the Heart of the Brave, such minor tricks couldn’t scare him.

“Playing tricks, Chu Renmei, is this all you’ve got?”

———————-

Chapter 79

**Chu Renmei!**

In life, she was a famous Cantonese opera singer. Her husband, Bu Wantian, was a seemingly refined teacher in the village, but in reality, he was a heartless, treacherous man.

After marrying Chu Renmei, Bu Wantian had an encounter with a rich heiress. Desiring to marry her but unwilling to gain a reputation for abandoning his current wife and chasing wealth, Bu Wantian devised a sinister plan!

He lied to Chu Renmei, saying he owed a gambling debt to a village thug named Tian Qi and that Chu Renmei needed to spend a night with Tian Qi to settle the debt.

Out of love for her husband, Chu Renmei agreed.

This was exactly Bu Wantian’s scheme!

In the end, when Chu Renmei met with Tian Qi, Bu Wantian’s men ambushed her.

Bu Wantian publicly accused Chu Renmei of violating the seven grounds for divorce and committing adultery, having her beaten to death. Her face was smashed beyond recognition with stones, and her body was discarded carelessly on a hillside, wrapped in a mat.

After her death, Chu Renmei’s spirit learned the truth. Her unresolved rage turned her into a vengeful ghost, bringing calamity to the living!

This is the backstory of Chu Renmei, the ghost from “The Eternal Evil of Asia.”

In a way, Chu Renmei was also a tragic figure…

Chen Ye’s words seemed to infuriate Chu Renmei.

The surroundings suddenly transformed.

Blazing!

Flames erupted everywhere.

The living room remained the same, but it was engulfed in fierce flames. The fiery tongues spread out, blocking all exits with intense heat.

The extreme temperature seemed to carry a poisonous essence. As Chen Ye inhaled, he felt a sharp discomfort in his throat and lungs, the heat scorching within!

An illusion!!

Chen Ye knew this was Chu Renmei’s lethal trick.

“Such a realistic illusion, it’s truly impressive!!”

Although he was aware of Chu Renmei’s powerful illusions, experiencing one this lifelike was surprising.

However.

Chen Ye showed no sign of fear.

Chu Renmei’s typical method of killing was to create illusions, making the target unable to distinguish reality, causing them to panic and ultimately scare themselves to death.

But this wouldn’t work on Chen Ye.

He closed his eyes and calmed his mind, finding inner peace.

This proved effective!

The suffocating sensation vanished immediately.

While the “flames” still roared around him, Chen Ye felt no heat.

Chu Renmei’s illusion was rendered ineffective against him!

Of course, this was largely thanks to the Heart of the Brave.

Without it, no matter how brave Chen Ye was, he couldn’t remain calm in such a vivid illusion.

As long as his heart wasn’t calm, unable to conquer his inner fear, Chu Renmei’s illusion would continue to work…

“Whoosh!”

Suddenly, there was a sound of something cutting through the air.

Chen Ye’s ears twitched, and his Armament Haki activated on his hand. He swiftly grabbed a flying kitchen knife out of the air.

Then.

Chen Ye opened his eyes and looked at the knife in his hand.

The knife was real, moved by Chu Renmei from the kitchen.

Seeing her illusion failing against Chen Ye, Chu Renmei resorted to a physical attack.

Chen Ye smiled slightly and squeezed.

The stainless steel knife quickly deformed in his hand, turning into a lump of scrap metal, which he casually discarded.

“Chu Renmei, if you have more tricks, feel free to use them!” Chen Ye said boldly.

Having experienced Chu Renmei’s illusion-making abilities, Chen Ye felt more confident.

The Heart of the Brave was indeed a rare treasure!

Its effect exceeded Chen Ye’s expectations!

As long as he remained unafraid, a ghost like Chu Renmei could do nothing to him.

Shortly after Chen Ye finished speaking, the situation changed again.

“Roar!”

“Growl!”

Accompanied by terrifying screams, charred corpses appeared in the blazing fire around him, varying in size, all with eyes filled with hatred, crawling towards Chen Ye.

The scene was extremely horrifying!

Any ordinary person would be scared out of their wits seeing this.

But Chen Ye remained calm.

Soon, he was surrounded by countless “burned ghosts.”

These “ghosts,” with their bodies aflame, reached out and grabbed Chen Ye’s pants, climbing up his legs.

Chen Ye saw his clothes catching fire from the ghosts’ flames, starting to burn.

He felt the heat once more!

Slightly startled, Chen Ye realized that everything was an illusion; the ghosts and flames were fake.

He was certain his heart had no fear!!

Yet, he could feel the burning heat…

This indicated Chu Renmei’s immense grudge had turned her into a formidable ghost, whose illusionary abilities had reached a terrifying level, affecting reality!

Furthermore.

Chu Renmei was evidently using her full power to deal with Chen Ye.

Impressive!

Truly a childhood nightmare, ghost Chu Renmei was indeed fierce!!

However.

That was the extent of it!

Armament Haki covered Chen Ye’s entire body again.

Such flames couldn’t harm Chen Ye at all.

As long as Chen Ye remained calm, ghost Chu Renmei couldn’t do anything to him!

“Wah! Wah!”

At this moment, a charred little ghost climbed onto Chen Ye’s stomach, screaming at him with piercing cries, and pus and blood flowed from its features, extremely horrifying.

This was an attempt to scare Chen Ye, to break his steadfast heart.

Chen Ye smiled slightly, reached out his darkened hand, and gently patted the little ghost’s head…

While patting, Chen Ye calmly said, “Chu Renmei, if this is the extent of your abilities, you can’t harm me!”

“I know you hate your husband, hate everyone, but you’ve killed many people over the years. No matter how deep the grudge, it should have dissipated by now!”

As soon as he finished speaking.

The charred “ghosts” and the blazing fire all vanished.

The living room returned to normal.

It seemed Chu Renmei couldn’t do anything to Chen Ye and dispelled the illusion.

However, Chen Ye knew she hadn’t left.

Because outside the window, it was still raining heavily with constant lightning and thunder!

Suddenly.

A figure with disheveled hair, wearing a blue robe, appeared out of thin air before Chen Ye.

Chu Renmei had finally shown herself!

—————-

Chapter 80

Chu Renmei finally appeared.

Her hair was disheveled, obscuring her face.

She wore a long blue robe, styled from the Republic of China era.

She stood there silently, making no movements, yet exuding an eerie and terrifying presence that instilled fear.

However!

She couldn’t intimidate Chen Ye.

Chen Ye could sense a pair of eyes watching him from behind that black hair.

Chu Renmei had likely never encountered someone like Chen Ye before: impervious to weapons, unyielding in spirit, and entirely unafraid.

Chen Ye stared calmly into Chu Renmei’s hidden gaze.

After a moment.

Chu Renmei moved.

Her body floated and drifted, her legs motionless, yet she glided silently and eerily through the air.

Then, Chu Renmei left the living room and drifted into the adjacent kitchen.

As her figure vanished, the lightning and thunder outside quickly ceased, and the weather returned to its previous clear state.

Finally.

Chu Renmei realized she couldn’t do anything to Chen Ye and temporarily left.

Chen Ye smiled slightly and also turned to leave.

He knew, of course, that Chu Renmei wouldn’t give up hunting him so easily.

Anyone who drank the river water was cursed and became Chu Renmei’s target.

The reason she left was simply because she couldn’t deal with him at the moment.

Her next attack could come at any time!

Leaving the house, Chen Ye went to a nearby underground parking garage. After searching around, he found a luxury car and saw some valuables left by the owner.

He punched the car window, shattering it, and took out a wallet and a gold watch.

In the 1990s setting of the “The Eternal Evil of Asia” dungeon, mobile payments weren’t a thing.

So, Chen Ye easily found a thick stack of cash in the wallet.

After obtaining the money, Chen Ye bought a map and headed to the police station.

He needed to find someone who was very important in the original storyline.

And the quickest place to find someone was, of course, the police station!

At the police station.

Chen Ye didn’t go to the reception desk; instead, he slipped into the office area while the police were busy and opened the door to an inspector’s office.

Inside the office.

The inspector was leisurely drinking tea.

Seeing someone enter without knocking, the inspector was about to get angry, but seeing a stranger, he held back and asked, “Who are you?”

Chen Ye sat down casually and said, “I’m looking for someone!”

“Looking for someone?”

Hearing this, the inspector was immediately annoyed.

How dare someone bother him with such a trivial matter?

Outrageous.

The inspector was about to kick Chen Ye out, but before he could say a word, he changed his demeanor to a smile.

“Sir, who are you looking for?”

Naturally, the inspector became so courteous because Chen Ye had placed a thick stack of cash on the table.

Without saying a word, Chen Ye pushed the money toward the inspector and said, “His name is Li Qiang, an almost hundred-year-old man who used to live in Huangshan Village… That’s all I know!”

“This is a down payment. If you find him, there will be more money for you afterward!”

Of course, Chen Ye was bluffing.

He only had this much cash.

Seeing Chen Ye’s generosity and confident demeanor, the inspector immediately believed that Chen Ye was a wealthy young man.

“Sir, don’t worry, I’ll find him right away!”

The inspector then left the office and instructed a few subordinates to help find the person.

In less than half an hour, the inspector returned with three sets of information.

“Sir, based on your description, we found three elderly men who fit the criteria. Take a look!”

Chen Ye took the three files and opened the first one.

Seeing the photo, his eyes lit up.

Unexpectedly, the first file was the target.

“Thank you, Officer!” Chen Ye expressed his gratitude.

The inspector, however, rubbed his fingers together, hinting for more money.

Chen Ye smiled slightly, took off the gold watch, and said, “I don’t have more cash right now. This watch is yours. I’ll return with more cash to reclaim it after confirming the person.”

“No problem!”

The inspector readily agreed, personally escorting Chen Ye out of the police station.

Originally.

Chen Ye could have just knocked the inspector out or killed him, making things easier.

But doing so would attract police attention and bring endless trouble.

So, Chen Ye used money to handle the matter.

Money can make the devil turn millstones!

Avoiding trouble was worth the expense to Chen Ye.

After all, the money wasn’t really his, and he couldn’t take it with him.

Leaving the police station, Chen Ye hailed a taxi to his next destination.

Following the address from the file, he arrived outside a house.

“Knock! Knock! Knock!”

Chen Ye knocked on the door.

He was in luck; someone was home.

“Who is it?”

An old voice came from inside, followed by the door opening, revealing an elderly man’s face.

The old man had graying hair, a face full of wrinkles, and only a few teeth left. He looked very old.

Despite his age, he seemed in good health and quite energetic.

This old man was Li Qiang!

In the original storyline, Chu Renmei was Li Qiang’s god-aunt.

When Chu Renmei was alive, they had a good relationship.

Li Qiang was the one who told her the truth about her husband’s betrayal.

Back then, Chu Renmei turned into a vengeful ghost and killed 66 out of 67 people in Huangshan Village, sparing only Li Qiang, who remained unharmed.

Chen Ye sought Li Qiang to guide him to Chu Renmei’s burial site!

In the original story, it was mentioned that Chu Renmei was buried in the back hills of Huangshan Village.

A real estate developer later threw her remains into a pond there.

However, the exact location of the pond wasn’t detailed in the story.

Chen Ye didn’t want to waste time searching the entire back hill.

So.

He directly sought out Li Qiang to lead him there!

“Young man, who are you looking for?”

Chen Ye smiled politely and asked, “Hello, sir. Are you Li Qiang?”

“Yes, I am!”

“That’s good!” Chen Ye continued, “I’d like you to take me to Chu Renmei’s burial site.”

At the mention of “Chu Renmei,” Li Qiang’s face changed instantly.

“I don’t know any Chu Renmei. You’ve got the wrong person, young man!”

Li Qiang said and tried to close the door.

However, no matter how hard he tried, the door wouldn’t budge.
