GTA Chapter 156

This entry is part 157 of 236 in the series Online Game: God Tier Assasin, I am The Shadow!

Hearing the chatter among the players, Qin Feng found himself thoroughly baffled.

“???”

Qin Xiaoyou’s legs were sawed off?

“How… brutal.” Qin Feng couldn’t help but muse.

In such a scenario, it made sense for the officials to ask Chen Wuming to check on the situation. After all, in this forsaken game-like era, guilds effectively served as the new equivalent of companies or corporations.

If a guild member encountered an issue, turning to the guild for help was entirely logical.

In the current framework, the Jianghai City officials had likely already recorded every guild and connected with their respective leaders both in and out of the game.

Of course, according to the old legal system, if an employee’s mishap occurred outside of work or company premises, the company bore no responsibility.

However, in this new era, legal adaptations hadn’t caught up. Handling such matters often required ad hoc solutions.

Qin Feng was about to ask the second-in-command of the Knights’ Templar to escort him to the location of the “Slayers” they had prepared when suddenly Chen Wuming came back online.

Moments later, a private message popped up:
“Apologies, big boss. One of our guild girls ran into trouble IRL—she lost her legs. I went to cover some treatment costs for her. Sorry for the delay. Here’s the arranged coordinates for the Slayers. You can head over now!”

“Got it.”

Qin Feng glanced at the coordinates, noting that they weren’t far. He melted into the shadows and rode Osirio to the location.

As he flew, he found himself mildly surprised.
Chen Wuming actually paid for Qin Xiaoyou’s treatment?

Strictly speaking, her mishap had nothing to do with him. There was no real reason for him to take responsibility.

“Chen Wuming… he’s no saint,” Qin Feng mused with narrowed eyes.

But he didn’t dwell on it.

Before long, Qin Feng arrived above the coordinates. From the sky, he observed the location: a gold-tier hideout, the Noble Garden Hideout.

The hideout was surrounded by decayed flora and vegetation. Each corner featured a crumbling statue of a noble knight, while the dilapidated walls were reinforced with an active magical defense barrier.

Gold-tier hideouts were about the size of a soccer field—decently sized but dwarfed by platinum-tier equivalents.

Knights’ Templar players moved in and out of the area. Near the north gate, a line of players with Slayer Points stood waiting.

Chen Wuming, now back online, was chatting idly with a dozen high-ranking guild officers while awaiting Qin Feng’s arrival.

“President, how’s Xiaoyou holding up? Pretty unlucky running into that serial killer,” one officer, “Rebirth Gourmet Dad,” asked casually.

Chen Wuming smiled faintly:
“The good news is, she’s alive. The bad news? Her legs are gone. The official healing priest said the injuries were too severe—her legs were fully severed, with the stumps horribly damaged. Even modern medicine wouldn’t be able to reattach them. Current healing magic isn’t strong enough either.”

“For now, the officials recommend preserving her severed legs as best as possible to slow tissue degradation. They hope more advanced healing techniques will become available in the future. But… that costs money.”

Hearing this, the group nodded in understanding.

But Rebirth Gourmet Dad raised an eyebrow.
“President, don’t tell me… you paid for her?”

Chen Wuming chuckled.
“I did. Poor girl, losing her legs so young. She kept crying about wanting to see her brother, and I couldn’t stand it.”

“Huh? Her brother? Why didn’t he step in to help?” Rebirth Gourmet Dad asked skeptically.

Chen Wuming shook his head.
“Her friend brought in a diviner who said her brother was killed and his body dumped into the ocean. Not much her brother can do now.”

Rebirth Gourmet Dad’s expression twisted into an odd mix of surprise and doubt.
“But seriously, President… you didn’t just help because you felt sorry for her, right?”

Chen Wuming’s face turned solemn.
“What kind of person do you take me for? Of course, I wouldn’t leave one of our guild members to fend for themselves. Rest assured, as long as you’re a Knights’ Templar member, we’ll always have your back!”

He then added, “Oh, and be sure to spread the word about this. Make sure everyone knows how pitiful Xiaoyou’s situation is. Say no one else was willing to help her, except for our guild. The sadder her story, the better for recruitment.”

The surrounding officers exchanged knowing glances before breaking into understanding smiles.

“President, you’re a genius!”

“Using her tragedy to advertise the guild? Brilliant!”

“Honestly, I thought you were being a clown for paying her expenses, but it turns out I’m the clown, haha.”

“President, you’re on another level. This will bring in tons of new members!”

Chen Wuming straightened up, his tone righteous.
“Don’t say things like that. We’re simply offering a small glimmer of hope to those who can’t go on.”

Qin Feng, who had landed nearby and approached stealthily, overheard the entire conversation and found himself at a loss for words.

This guy hasn’t changed one bit.

Chen Wuming’s true nature remained the same—always scheming, always finding ways to turn situations to his advantage. Now, he planned to exploit Qin Xiaoyou’s tragedy to bolster guild recruitment.

However…

Chen Wuming might have underestimated the consequences. By tying the guild’s reputation to Qin Xiaoyou, he risked giving her leverage to exploit the guild in return.

Not that Qin Feng cared. He was more intrigued by something else.

“Killed and dumped into the ocean?
“Where did that rumor come from?”

For a moment, Qin Feng was puzzled.

However, his experience quickly pieced the situation together. Given that he was currently near the eastern sea, the divination wasn’t entirely inaccurate. It had just introduced a minor… misunderstanding.

“Was this diviner hired by Chu Yan?”

“So now they think I’m dead? Interesting.”

Qin Feng smirked at the thought. It wasn’t a bad misunderstanding to leave in place.

Still cloaked in stealth, Qin Feng reached the Noble Garden Hideout’s gate. In a single Shadow Strike, he eliminated nearly 200 Slayers standing guard.

Surveying the aftermath, Qin Feng noted with satisfaction that his Slayer Point level had dropped from 4 layers to just over 3 layers.

“Not bad,” he thought. With the Knights’ Templar consistently supplying him with Slayers, future actions in the wild would become much easier.

Chen Wuming and his officers froze in shock when the entire group of Slayers was wiped out in an instant. It didn’t take them long to figure out what had happened.

“He’s here!”

“That damage! Unbelievable!”

“He’s still in stealth while attacking? Absolutely insane…”

“Of course! You think the global number one wouldn’t be overpowered?”

They quickly broke into laughter, shouting praises into the empty air as the atmosphere filled with excitement.

Qin Feng ignored their flattery and sent a private message to Chen Wuming:
“Send me the platinum boss coordinates.”

Chen Wuming immediately straightened up and bowed toward the invisible Qin Feng, sending the coordinates via private chat:
“Here’s the location, big boss. Safe travels!”
