GTA Chapter 37

This entry is part 38 of 236 in the series Online Game: God Tier Assasin, I am The Shadow!

Song Fei marched forward with his gang of fangirls, creating an imposing and grandiose scene. Many nearby players, seeing this spectacle, quickly distanced themselves.

“Damn, what’s this little celebrity planning now?”

“Heh, you don’t know? That guy just got killed and sent back here. It was glorious!”

“What? With so many fangirls protecting him, how could anyone kill him?”

“It was **Shadow**. What do you think?”

“No way! **Shadow** is amazing! But he really dares to provoke this bunch? Those girls seem completely out of their minds…”

Upon hearing this, many players were shocked.

Some, after seeing Song Fei’s party, shook their heads and sighed.

“That **Shadow** guy is done for. I see there’s a hunter in Song Fei’s party who can detect stealth.”

“Yeah, I tried to sneak attack earlier, but that female hunter’s **Eagle Eye** spotted me instantly…”

“If **Shadow’s** stealth doesn’t work, he’s just a fragile little assassin.”

“And their team has plenty of control skills. I think **Shadow** is finished…”

A few people looked on with pity, but they still followed from a distance, curious to see how this showdown would end.

Song Fei, now more confident than ever, didn’t mind the crowd following him.

“Perfect,” Song Fei sneered inwardly. “With so many witnesses, once I kill **Shadow**, everyone will see that no matter how strong you are solo, it’s useless—especially as an assassin!”

“A fragile little assassin can’t compare to a mighty mage like me!”

Despite being just a regular mage, Song Fei took pride in his class.

In his eyes, even a normal mage was better than some hidden class, like whatever **Shadow** had.

“A hidden class? So what?”

“Soon, he’ll just be a stepping stone. You might have the first kill on a gold-tier boss, but I’ll have the first kill on you. That’s the food chain!”

The girl with the **Eagle Eye** skill proudly scouted around, feeling honored to be by Song Fei’s side. During the boss fight, when Song Fei had been killed, her **Eagle Eye** had just run out, and she hadn’t had enough mana to reactivate it. She felt terribly guilty.

“My mana should have been used to keep **Eagle Eye** active the whole time…”

“Song Fei got killed once because of me, it’s all my fault, boohoo!”

Despite her self-blame, she felt proud that she could be of help to him, almost leaning her body against him in her eagerness.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t particularly attractive, and Song Fei wasn’t very interested in her. To him, she was just a tool.

But she was still useful—after all, she gave all the tradeable lifespan she earned to him without question. What a sweet deal!

Meanwhile, Qin Feng, who had remained in stealth, happened to spot the group.

“So, they’re coming for revenge?”

Qin Feng chuckled.

With the +1 stealth level provided by his **Shadow** class, it was impossible for anyone at this stage to see through his stealth!

At that moment…

Qin Feng quietly approached the haughty Song Fei.

He didn’t attack immediately. Instead, he reached out and patted Song Fei on the shoulder twice.

“Who’s there?!”

Song Fei jumped in fright, quickly turning around, but saw no one.

Because Qin Feng’s action wasn’t an attack, it didn’t break his stealth.

As Song Fei spun around, he heard a ghostly whisper in his ear: “Just so you know, you’re about to die.”

Hearing that voice, Song Fei instantly realized—it was Shadow!

“Protect me! Protect me!”

Song Fei screamed, terrified out of his wits.

Before anyone could react, Qin Feng’s figure flickered through the group. In the next moment, the flashing blades of **Phantom Slash** swept across Song Fei and several of his nearby fangirls.

-2218!

-2275!

-2197!

In an instant, Qin Feng had once again one-shot Song Fei!

Though Song Fei had managed to cast a magic shield, it could only absorb 300–500 points of damage. Qin Feng’s **Phantom Slash** shattered it in seconds!

Not only that…

Song Fei quickly realized that compared to when Qin Feng had killed him at the silver-tier boss earlier, his damage had increased yet again!

“Damn it!”

Song Fei blinked, only to find himself back in the town square.

He was utterly stunned, his face turning green like he was severely constipated.

Being killed twice in a row had drained most of the 2,000 days of tradeable lifespan he had accumulated. Now, he only had about 500 days left, and all that lost lifespan—collected from his fangirls—had undoubtedly gone to **Shadow**!

“How is this possible?”

“You! Didn’t you have **Eagle Eye** activated? How did you not see him coming?”

Song Fei glared at the archer girl who had respawned alongside him.

She, too, was dumbfounded, stammering, “I did activate it! But there was no one in sight! I looked all around—there was no sign of anyone…”

The girl was both scared and heartbroken. She had failed twice now! Though she didn’t know exactly how it had gone wrong, she had once again gotten her beloved Song Fei killed.

And she feared that this time, Song Fei might cast her aside for good.

However, Song Fei didn’t blame her. He knew how to treat fans properly; berating them wouldn’t do him any favors.

Instead, he began to search for the real cause.

“How could **Eagle Eye** not detect Shadow?”

He couldn’t help but ask aloud in the team chat.

After a moment, one of the girls, who had randomly gotten the assassin class, timidly spoke up: “I saw something on my stats panel about stealth levels… Could it be that Shadow’s stealth level is higher?”

The archer girl quickly nodded in agreement. “Yes, yes! My **Eagle Eye** has anti-stealth level 1, so it can only detect level 1 stealth targets. If Shadow has level 2 or higher stealth, I wouldn’t be able to see him…”

The mystery was solved.

Song Fei realized that he had messed with a terrifying opponent who had level 2 stealth!

That thought sent chills down his spine.

“This guy moves like a ghost. If he wants to kill me, how can I defend against that?”

Song Fei was genuinely scared now.

At first, he had been determined to take down Shadow, but after learning about the higher stealth level, any thought of revenge vanished.

There was no way to catch him!

He’d only appear to kill, and then Song Fei would be dead again.

Shadow had even taken the time to tap him on the shoulder and announce his impending death!

The pressure was overwhelming.
