GTA Chapter 39

This entry is part 40 of 236 in the series Online Game: God Tier Assasin, I am The Shadow!

Song Fei led his fan-girl squad along the riverside, clearing out monsters as they went.

The sheer number of them made the monsters panic and try to flee. But with Song Fei and his girls having boosted their agility stats, they quickly swarmed the monsters, eliminating them before they had a chance to escape.

Song Fei was enjoying the grind.

What he didn’t know was that Shadow was already making his way swiftly toward him!

Qin Feng followed Gu Yixue’s directions, heading toward the river where Song Fei was located. Along the way, he casually dispatched any monsters he encountered, though their levels were low, so he didn’t gain much experience.

As he approached a large tree, he suddenly stopped.

“Hey, where are you now, big shot?” Gu Yixue’s voice chimed in through a private chat.

She had been keeping an eye on Song Fei’s group but couldn’t locate Qin Feng since he was in stealth.

“Check if there are any other large trees like this nearby,” Qin Feng responded, stepping out of stealth and pointing at the tree in front of him.

“Huh?” Gu Yixue was puzzled.

Wasn’t he supposed to be hunting down Song Fei? Why was he interested in trees now?

Still, the task wasn’t difficult for her.

About twenty seconds later, she sent a message back, saying there were two other similar trees within 100 meters of Qin Feng.

Qin Feng walked around the three large trees, examining their trunks until he found some strange symbols etched into the bark.

“What are these symbols?” Gu Yixue asked curiously.

“Take a guess,” Qin Feng replied with a sly grin, tracing one of the symbols with his finger.

He then moved to the other two trees, finding different symbols on each. He traced these as well, and as his finger brushed over them, the symbols began to glow.

Once all three trees had their symbols lit, a faint, emerald-colored treasure chest appeared in the middle of the trees.

Gu Yixue’s eyes sparkled. “Wow!”

Ignoring her, Qin Feng approached the flickering image of the treasure chest, waiting for it to fully materialize.

“I didn’t expect to find an **Ancient God’s Blessing** this early…” Qin Feng smiled.

**Ancient God’s Blessings** could appear anywhere in the Abandoned God’s Land, usually marked by strange symbols like the ones he had just found. The combinations of these symbols could yield different effects: summoning evil bosses, hordes of monsters, treasure chests, or even unique rewards.

For new players, deciphering the symbols was still a matter of trial and error.

But for Qin Feng, a reincarnator with nine years of experience, he had encountered many of these **Blessings** in his previous life.

He even remembered patterns that others had compiled on forums, so he was able to immediately activate the best reward: an **Emerald Chest**!

If left to luck, the odds of getting an Emerald Chest were less than one in a thousand.

“Open!”

Once the chest fully solidified, Qin Feng reached out and opened it.

From her bird’s-eye view, Gu Yixue’s eyes were practically glowing with envy. “An **Emerald Chest**?! You’re too amazing, big shot! That’s worth at least a thousand days of lifespan, isn’t it? That’s like… millions in real cash!”

At this point, many people outside the game had started buying lifespan. Based on Qin Feng’s memory, the price on the first day was between 10,000 to 20,000 RMB per day of lifespan.

However, this price skyrocketed by the second day, easily reaching 1:50,000 or more.

Eventually, it got so expensive that national currencies lost their purchasing power entirely. That’s why governments became so dominant in this game: they had bought up vast amounts of tradeable lifespan early on.

After all, who could compete with governments printing infinite amounts of money?

“I’d better memorize this…” Gu Yixue’s heart raced as she carefully studied the three trees, hoping to replicate the **Ancient God’s Blessing** later on her own.

However, **Blessings** appeared in different locations each time, and the symbols were always different, with over 10,000 possible combinations.

If Gu Yixue tried on her own, the chance of her scoring an **Emerald Chest** would be minuscule.

She’d be lucky just to get a gold-tier chest. More likely, she’d summon a bunch of monsters and get minimal rewards after a long, tough battle…

When Qin Feng opened the Emerald Chest, a system notification chimed:

——

[You have opened an Emerald Chest!]

[You have received the emerald-tier skill book: “Curse of the Blooming Flower”!]

——

Qin Feng was momentarily stunned.

“**Curse of the Blooming Flower**? What kind of skill is this?”

In all his nine years of playing in his previous life, he had never heard of such a skill.

He inspected the skill book in his hands. It gave off a faint emerald glow, with a cover adorned by a sinister, blood-red flower. Strange, eerie patterns twisted across the flower, forming a grotesque, smiling face.

He checked the skill’s details:

——

[Curse of the Blooming Flower (Emerald-tier): General skill. Use on a player’s corpse within 15 seconds of their death to grow a cursed flower on the body. The cursed flower will continue to drain the player’s tradeable lifespan until it reaches zero! No cooldown.]

——

Qin Feng’s eyes widened, and he drew a sharp breath.

“This skill is overpowered!”

He could use it on the corpse of any player he killed, and it would keep draining their tradeable lifespan!

Of course, Qin Feng knew that the cursed flower would likely have a health bar and could be destroyed.

But if he killed everyone around it, who would be left to destroy the flower?

“Song Fei’s about to have some rough days ahead.”

A wicked smile spread across Qin Feng’s face.

He immediately learned the **Curse of the Blooming Flower** skill.

Normally, when a player was killed, only half of their tradeable lifespan would drop.

But with this skill…

Every time Qin Feng killed someone, he could extract all of their tradeable lifespan!

All he had to do was guard their corpse while the cursed flower did its work.

It was easy to imagine just how terrifying this skill would become for his enemies.
