GTA Chapter 78

This entry is part 79 of 236 in the series Online Game: God Tier Assasin, I am The Shadow!

The boy scoffed, “Even if they got her to level 10, they’re just using her as a tool… The *Knight’s Templar* membership contract lasts three years, and once you sign it, you’re basically a slave for three years!”

“If you don’t have any special abilities, it’s better to just kill small monsters, slowly accumulate lifespan, like us. We only kill small monsters and retreat whenever we see a boss, calling for help instead. Isn’t that safer?”

“At least your lifespan and experience grow steadily, and you’re not bound by a guild.”

Chu Yan smiled bitterly at his words: “But Xiaoyou thinks she’s special. After all, she has a hidden class… and in that sense, she’s indeed stronger than us.”

Everyone fell silent…

“Wait, there’s a *Fettered One* ahead! Chu Yan, slow it down!”

Not far in front of them appeared a faceless humanoid monster bound in chains.

Chu Yan, being an archer, had learned the skill *Frost Arrow*.

Without hesitation, she stepped forward, drew her bow, and shot an ice-covered arrow at the *Fettered One*!

Though she didn’t hit its head, she struck its body, applying a 30% slow effect.

Immediately, the group charged forward, launching their attacks on the monster.

Behind them were Chu Yan’s parents, worry etched on their faces…

Having toiled for most of their lives, they had never imagined they would face the arrival of *The Forsaken Game*.

Out of concern for them, Chu Yan had initially kept them from leaving the town. Only after meeting with the public welfare guild *Dreamsand River* did she feel it was safer for them to venture out.

Chu Yan understood that for an ordinary person like her, being able to survive in *The Forsaken Game* and slowly kill small monsters to heal was already a blessing.

Plus, she could help elderly players with no combat ability level up safely.

But Qin Xiaoyou didn’t want that.

And so, they had gone their separate ways.

At this moment, the four members of Chu Yan’s group were a balanced team: physical damage, magic damage, tank, and healer. The four of them worked together smoothly, making quick work of the *Fettered One*.

Just as the young man in their group stepped forward to absorb the lifespan dropped by the monster…

Suddenly!

A flurry of shadow arrows shot out from the nearby forest, striking the young man in the head with pinpoint accuracy!

-429 (Weak Point Attack)!

-456 (Weak Point Attack)!

-452 (Weak Point Attack)!

The young man dropped dead on the spot, not only failing to claim the monster’s lifespan but also losing his own lifespan, which exploded out of him.

Then, a burst of arrogant laughter echoed from the trees.

“Haha, this idiot is so squishy! One arrow and he’s gone!”

“No kidding, *Dreamsand River* is full of trash players!”

“Seriously, who would waste time carrying those old farts?”

Six players emerged from the woods, dressed in a mix of Silver and Bronze equipment, their faces obscured by masks, looking mockingly at Chu Yan and the remaining five members of her group.

“You lot, hand over all your lifespan,” the leader sneered.

Chu Yan and her friends’ faces turned grim.

They knew they were being robbed!

Either they’d lose all their tradable lifespan, or both their tradable and non-tradable lifespan would be halved.

But the worst part was…

There was no way to prove how much tradable lifespan they had.

If they gave too little and the attackers thought they were holding back, they’d still get killed!

Chu Yan shot a glance at the leader and frowned. “The officials have strictly forbidden killing outside of towns! Aren’t you afraid of being arrested in real life?”

The young man with a black dragon tattoo on his arm chuckled at her words: “To hell with the officials. Do you know who I am? Do they know who I am? Enough talk. You’ve got three seconds…”

But before he could finish speaking—

*Swish!*

A shadowy blade light appeared in the middle of the group, slashing outward in a circle, instantly decapitating the tattooed leader and the other five bandits. Their heads flew into the air as their bodies collapsed to the ground!

All six robbers were killed on the spot, their bodies falling lifelessly to the ground.

Immediately afterward, Chu Yan and her group watched as strange, blood-red flowers blossomed on the corpses, their eerie glow adding to the scene’s horror.

“What the… who killed them?”

“This is insane!”

“Ugh—”

Behind Chu Yan, her mother retched in disgust at the sight, shaking with fear.

“T-thank you!” Chu Yan managed to muster the courage to shout her gratitude into the air.

For a long moment, there was no response.

Only the blood-red flowers on the corpses remained, sucking the life out of them before slowly fading away…

“It… it seems like it was *Shadow*?” Chu Yan speculated in the party chat. “He seems… like a good guy.”

The girl with glasses looked both excited and awestruck. “*Shadow*? Why would *Shadow* be in our town?”

The plump young man in their group shivered with excitement. “Come to think of it, only *Shadow* could be this powerful! I can’t believe I actually saw him!”

Chu Yan sighed. “Saw him? What are you talking about? Which of your eyes saw him? He never even showed himself!”

By this time, Qin Feng was already far away.

He had simply passed by.

The only reason he acted was because he saw a few players with the “Murderer” status above their heads.

In fact, he didn’t even notice who those players were…

His speed was too fast!

In the blink of an eye, his Phantom Nightwolf had carried him over a hundred meters away.

Along the way, he had spotted some players with the *Murderer* icon above their heads and casually took them out as if they were mere minions.

“My *Murderer* status is almost at five stacks.”

“If it reaches five, there’s a chance that NPC might show up… and I definitely don’t want to deal with him at this stage.”

For players marked as *Murderers*, killing other *Murderers* reduced their own *Murderer* status.

Qin Feng had only killed them to lower his status and avoid drawing the attention of *that guy* too early in the game.

He had no idea that one of the people he had saved was Chu Yan…

Back in Darkmoon Town.

The tattooed young man and his five companions had all respawned in the center of town.

Their faces were twisted in frustration.

All six of them were under the *Murderer* status.

Worse still, after being cursed by Qin Feng’s *Blooming Curse*, all their tradable lifespan had been drained to zero!

And…

Because they had been killed under two layers of *Murderer* status, their non-tradable lifespan had been halved… then halved again… and finally, Qin Feng had siphoned another half away!

The black dragon tattooed young man had originally been left with eight years of non-tradable lifespan.

Now, trembling as he checked, he found he had less than six months left!

“Damn it! The system says we were killed by *Shadow*?”

“Why the hell is the global number one *Shadow* in this backwater town?”

“We’re screwed! I lost all my tradable lifespan!”

“Wait, we had the *Murderer* status on us…”

“Log out! Log out now!”

But it was too late.

An official squad had already noticed the *Murderer* marks above their heads and approached with cold smiles.

“Remember their IDs.”

“Black Dragon, Hot Chicken Flavor, Potatoes…”

“We don’t know who they are in real life yet, but we’ll add them to the wanted list in-game!”

The officials prohibited player killing within the towns, and they took action accordingly.

Once marked as wanted, these players would be hunted down whenever official personnel encountered them in-game.

Moreover, some special hidden classes allowed officials to track down wanted players!

This system added a layer of deterrence to keep players in check.

However, for Qin Feng, none of this mattered.

With his strength, there was no way the officials could restrain him.

Just two minutes later…

Qin Feng arrived at a lake surrounded by a mountain valley—the location of the seven Gold-tier bosses.

As soon as he stepped into the valley, faint and mysterious whispers echoed in his ears.

“These whispers… it’s definitely an *Ancient God Slate*! And it seems like… a cursed slate?”
