MWM Chapter 105

This entry is part 106 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

The next morning, Leo saw the news in the newspaper about how he, Newt, and Tina had subdued Grindelwald the previous day.

Thanks to this news, everywhere he went with Credence, they became the center of attention, with most wizards looking at him with admiration. Unlike in the original movie, where Newt defeated Grindelwald within a protective barrier cast by the Aurors, Leo and the others had fought Grindelwald right in the main hall of the Magical Congress, in full view of everyone.

Not only the Aurors but also many other staff members and a large number of American wizards who were there on business witnessed the battle. When Grindelwald had exited the magical elevator, a few brave wizards had tried to stop him, but most had hidden in fear.

As a result, Leo, Newt, and Tina had become famous internationally. Grindelwald was notorious, and now the three who had defeated him were just as well-known.

Of course, there was a downside to this fame. Now, whenever Leo went out, he had to take extra precautions to avoid being constantly recognized, especially by overly enthusiastic wizards, which could become quite bothersome.

By the afternoon, Leo and Credence arrived at the American Magical Congress once again. The previous day, when they parted ways with Newt and Tina, the three of them had agreed to meet in the main hall today and use the Congress’s Portkey to return to London together.

“How are things going? Everything smooth?”

When Leo arrived in the hall, he found Newt and Tina already there, sitting on a bench and chatting happily.

“Very smooth. With Tina’s help yesterday, I managed to recover all the missing creatures, and this morning, I released the Thunderbird back into its habitat,” Newt replied, standing up as he saw Leo approaching.

Tina, noticing Credence by Leo’s side, looked surprised.

“Credence, what are you doing here?”

“I… I…” Credence stammered, trying to explain, but Leo interrupted him.

“Well, I ran into him on the street yesterday. I noticed he seemed to have magical abilities, but he’s never been trained, and his foster mother died in an accident. I felt sorry for him, so I thought I’d bring him back to London to live and teach him magic. You know, the Fawley family is down to just me now.”

Credence nodded, indicating that Leo had expressed what he wanted to say.

“Tom, you’re so kind. I’ve been worried about Credence continuing to suffer at that church. This is for the best. I didn’t realize Credence was of wizarding descent,” Tina said, stepping forward to gently pat Credence on the head, her face softening with a maternal glow.

Having lost her parents at a young age and grown up supporting each other with her sister, Tina felt a deep sympathy for Credence, an orphan who had been abused. She regretted not knowing sooner that he had wizarding blood; otherwise, she would have taken him away from his cruel foster mother long ago.

Newt, standing nearby, looked at Leo with a hint of suspicion in his eyes. It wasn’t that he doubted Leo, but something didn’t quite add up. From his knowledge, wizards with magical bloodlines who hadn’t learned to use magic from a young age often turned into Obscurials. He had encountered a similar case with a little girl in Africa.

But then he reconsidered, thinking perhaps Credence was just lucky. After all, Obscurials rarely survived past the age of ten, and Credence was clearly around fifteen or sixteen.

“By the way, Tina, do you think there will be any issues with the paperwork if I bring Credence to live in London?”

Leo asked. If this were the UK, there wouldn’t be any problems, but the U.S. had much stricter regulations, so he needed to check in advance.

Tina thought for a moment.

“Hmm… It’s a rare situation, but there shouldn’t be any major issues as long as you can prove that Credence has wizarding blood. If he were a Muggle, that would definitely be a problem.”

Credence’s identity as an orphan raised by Muggles and his age meant he was too old to attend a wizarding school, so he couldn’t be sent to one. But as Leo was a respected wizard from a prestigious family and a current hero, adopting an orphan wouldn’t be an issue.

“Good. I’ve already started teaching Credence magic, and he’s quite talented. He can already cast the basic Lumos spell,” Leo said, smiling.

Credence, being of Dumbledore bloodline, had incredible magical talent even without tapping into his Obscurus powers. Considering that Obscurials typically didn’t live past ten, the fact that Credence survived until he was twenty-three in the original story was extraordinary.

In the original storyline, Credence had followed Grindelwald and learned magic for only a few years, yet he was able to break through Newt’s protective spells using just his wand, without relying on his Obscurus powers.

In Leo’s view, the Obscurus was similar to a Tailed Beast in nature, except that the Tailed Beast came from the outside, whereas the Obscurus was born from a wizard’s bloodline. He believed that once he learned how to seal Tailed Beasts in the Naruto world, he might be able to seal Credence’s Obscurus, allowing him to live a normal life.

With Tina’s guidance, Leo first went to complete the adoption paperwork for Credence, then joined Newt at the Portkey Office.

After a heartfelt farewell between Tina and Newt, Leo and Newt used the Portkey to return to the London Ministry of Magic.

The news of Grindelwald’s defeat and imprisonment at the American Magical Congress had spread to Britain by now, after a day of circulation. So when Leo and Newt arrived, they were met with a warm welcome at the London Ministry of Magic.

Even the Minister of Magic himself came to greet them personally.

Two of the three wizards who defeated Grindelwald were British, which greatly boosted the standing of the British Ministry of Magic within the International Confederation of Wizards.

After everything was settled, Leo and Newt exchanged addresses and then returned to the Fawley family estate.

“Master, you’ve returned!”

As soon as Leo and Credence appeared, the house-elf Bally popped up with a delighted expression.

Credence, however, was startled at the sight of the house-elf.

“This is Bally, our house-elf,” Leo explained. “And this is our new family member, Credence. Bally, take good care of him from now on.”

After introducing the two, Leo had Bally show Credence around the estate to help him get familiar with the place. Meanwhile, Leo used a transformation spell to change his appearance and headed to Diagon Alley—or rather, Knockturn Alley.

He needed to find a black-market Portkey dealer to arrange illegal travel to New York.
