MWM Chapter 117

This entry is part 118 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

During this time back, Leo had been concerned about one crucial issue: the time allowed for entering the small world.

Apart from the automatic six months granted after completing each main quest, any additional entry required completing side quests that rewarded small-world time.

However, while many side quests were refreshed on his panel, only a few offered small-world time as a reward.

This had led him to prefer honing his magic and ninjutsu skills in the wardrobe rather than wasting time on side quests that offered little benefit.

But today, unexpectedly, a large number of side quests were refreshed on the panel, and all of them offered small-world time as a reward. It was no wonder he was ecstatic.

He casually opened a few side quests to check the specific task details and time rewards:

“Mrs. Elph at Edward Apartments has lost her beloved cat, Kabbu. Please help her find it. Reward: 3 hours of small-world time.”

“A robbery will occur at Singeli Supermarket on Maiden Lane at 5 PM. Please stop this incident. Reward: 12 hours of small-world time.”

“There will be a dismemberment case on Christopher Street at 10 AM. Please rescue the innocent victim, Miss Lena. Reward: 18 hours of small-world time.”

“A bank robbery will occur at Citibank on Wall Street at 8 AM tomorrow. Twenty-three innocent bystanders and five police officers will die in this incident. Please prevent these deaths. Reward: 2 days of small-world time.”

After skimming through the list, he saw there were over a hundred side quests, all offering small-world time as a reward, ranging from rescuing cats and dogs to saving people and putting out fires.

The more difficult and challenging the task, the more small-world time was rewarded. Conversely, the simpler and easier the task, the less time was rewarded.

The tasks spanned across all of New York, with timelines extending from now until a week later, and they kept refreshing continuously.

For example, the task of finding the lost cat had already disappeared, possibly because the cat had been found or had died.

As that task disappeared, another new one was immediately refreshed.

“Good thing I’ve learned Apparition; otherwise, this would be really tough.”

Some tasks had time gaps of only a few minutes, with locations as far apart as Queens and Brooklyn. Without Apparition, it would be impossible to make it in time.

Since there were now so many tasks offering small-world time, he didn’t need to rush. After all, even if he missed one, a new one would refresh.

What he needed to consider now was how to choose which tasks to take and what appearance to use while completing them.

With over a hundred side quests, even with Apparition, he couldn’t complete them all, especially those that occurred almost simultaneously.

His plan was to prioritize tasks that offered the most small-world time when he couldn’t complete all of them.

As for whether he should conceal his identity while completing the tasks, he only thought about it for a few seconds before deciding on the answer.

He definitely needed to.

Revealing his identity wouldn’t bring him any benefits.

Unlike Tony Stark, he didn’t have a vanity streak, and he understood one crucial thing: if you always do good deeds, it only takes one bad deed for you to be seen as a bad person.

Even if you simply stop doing good deeds, you might still be labeled as bad.

Most ordinary people are easily swayed by public opinion.

If that started to affect his and Wanda’s lives, it wouldn’t be worth it.

He was doing these side quests solely to gain small-world time, not out of a genuine desire to be a do-gooder or a superhero.

The fate of people who had nothing to do with him didn’t concern him. He might help out of sympathy if he happened to be there, but he wouldn’t see it as his responsibility.

The idea that “with great power comes great responsibility” wasn’t something he agreed with.

“With great power comes great responsibility” made more sense.

If the side quests stopped offering small-world time in this manner, he would immediately stop doing them.

“Looks like I need a change of clothes.”

After some thought, Leo took the Elder Wand and cast a spell on his outfit:

“Vestimentum Velox!”

His casual sportswear gradually transformed into a sleek, black trench coat, reminiscent of the iconic look from the movie “Black Mask” he had seen in his previous life.

He then selected a black half-mask from his mission space and put it on.

“This should do the trick.”

In a city full of high-tech surveillance equipment and satellite monitoring, simply covering half his face would only fool ordinary citizens, not the government, SHIELD, or HYDRA.

But that was enough—he only needed to keep his identity hidden from the general public.

He hadn’t been too secretive about his abilities under his current identity. After all, Tony Stark, Nick Fury, General Ross, and HYDRA already knew some of his strengths.

If he wanted to completely conceal his identity, he could use Transformation Jutsu to become someone else, but there was no need for that.

Besides, he wasn’t worried about any faction exposing his identity later. As he had said before, most ordinary people are foolish—he could easily handle it by creating a shadow clone.

“Darling, with this outfit, are we… going to a masquerade ball?”

As Leo admired his new look, Wanda suddenly walked in, carrying a plate of snacks.

She was surprised at first but quickly became intrigued.

When Leo saw Wanda, an idea suddenly struck him. He stepped forward with a smile:

“No, Wanda, we’re not going to a masquerade ball—we’re going to do some real-world magic training together.”

Recently, under his guidance, Wanda had developed basic combat awareness. It would be a perfect opportunity to take her for some real combat practice, which would further hone her skills while also completing the tasks.

The enemies in the side quests were mostly ordinary people, armed at most with modern firearms, which wouldn’t pose much of a threat to Wanda.

And with him watching over her, there was no chance of anything going wrong.

Most importantly, working together as a couple would make the tasks less tedious.

“That sounds like fun! I should have an outfit that matches yours, then.”

Excited by the idea of going on a magic mission with Leo, Wanda spun around on the spot, and her housewife apron transformed into a red leather outfit with a cape.
