- In Marvel: I Start by Marrying Scarlett Witch [Complete]
- MWM Chapter 119
**New York, Bronx.**
An old five-story residential building suddenly caught fire due to an aging electrical system.
Since the building wasn’t very tall, most of the residents had already escaped and were waiting below for the fire department to arrive.
However, at that moment, a young couple suddenly began screaming hysterically and tried to rush toward the burning building. Fortunately, some quick-thinking residents stopped them in time.
Given how the building was burning, rushing in would be suicidal.
It turned out that the young couple had just put their baby to sleep and had gone downstairs together to buy some groceries—only gone for about ten minutes. They never imagined that the building would catch fire in such a short time.
As the couple’s faces filled with despair and the neighbors sighed in sympathy, a figure dressed in a black trench coat suddenly appeared in front of them.
“A task that just appeared—I should make it in time.”
The newcomer was none other than Leo, who had Apparated to the scene. He had just seen a task on his panel to put out a burning building and save a baby trapped on the fifth floor. The reward was two days of small-world time.
“Which room on the fifth floor is your child in?” Leo asked the young couple.
The couple, who had been in despair, suddenly remembered recent news reports when they saw Leo’s outfit. Hope immediately surged in their hearts, and they quickly pointed to a room on the fifth floor.
“It’s right there, in that window. Please, please save our baby.”
The fire had started on the first floor, and their baby was on the fifth floor. There was still time to save them.
Leo nodded, then Apparated again, appearing beside the window. He punched through the glass and climbed inside.
Apparition required either a line of sight or familiarity with the location, so he couldn’t Apparate directly into the room and had to arrive at the window instead.
In recent times, to efficiently reach every task location, he had driven all over most parts of New York, ensuring he could smoothly perform Apparition when needed.
In this case, if he hadn’t visited the area before, the baby might have been dead by the time he Apparated nearby and ran over.
“There you are, unconscious but still breathing. I’m just in time.”
After entering the room, Leo quickly found the baby lying in a crib and immediately used Healing Palm Jutsu to start treating them.
The deadliest aspect of a fire isn’t the flames but the thick smoke produced by burning. A few breaths can cause unconsciousness, and inhaling it for about fifteen minutes can be fatal.
Although the flames had only reached the second floor, the smoke had already seeped into the fifth.
Fortunately, the door to the baby’s room was tightly closed, so not much smoke had entered. However, it was still enough to render the baby unconscious.
If he had arrived a few minutes later, the baby would have already been a corpse.
While an adult might last about fifteen minutes, a newborn wouldn’t have such resilience.
After using Healing Palm Jutsu to remove the toxins, Leo picked up the baby, jumped out of the window, and ran down the wall, leaping past the flames on the second floor before landing safely on the ground.
The sensation of Apparition feels like being squeezed through a tube, which can be uncomfortable for adults and even worse for a baby. That’s why he didn’t choose to Apparate out of the room with the baby.
“My baby, my baby! Thank you so much, sir! Thank you!”
The young couple took the baby from Leo’s arms, their faces full of grateful tears.
The surrounding crowd also erupted in applause.
Leo simply nodded, then turned and waved his Elder Wand.
“Aguamenti!”
As he waved his wand, a small cloud appeared above the building. After some flashes of lightning, it began to rain.
The Weather Spell—a type of magic that can change the natural weather. It can make it rain, snow, hail, or blow wind. Wizards often use it to grow herbs or as a magical air conditioner in their offices.
The spell’s effect and range depend on the wizard’s power. With Leo’s current strength, he could cover an area about the size of two basketball courts.
He had once seen Grindelwald cast a weather spell that covered an entire city, and the guy could even control the lightning within the clouds to strike his enemies—a truly terrifying ability.
“Water Release: Evil Mouth!”
After casting the Weather Spell, Leo quickly formed seals and used a D-rank Water Release jutsu called Evil Mouth.
Evil Mouth has no offensive power; it simply converts chakra into a small stream, creating an environment conducive to other Water Release jutsus or enhancing the effects of Lightning Release.
Thanks to the small rain created by the Weather Spell, the Evil Mouth jutsu worked exceptionally well, causing large amounts of water to flow from the ground and concentrate on the burning building under Leo’s control.
The fire was quickly extinguished.
Different elemental jutsus perform better in certain environments.
For example, Water Release jutsus are more effective near bodies of water or in the rain, Fire Release is stronger near volcanoes or in areas already burning, Lightning Release excels during thunderstorms, Earth Release near rocky terrains, and Wind Release during strong winds.
So, combining a Weather Spell with Water, Lightning, or Wind Release is a perfect match.
“Wooo-wooo-wooo!”
Not long after Leo put out the fire, the sound of fire truck sirens could be heard in the distance. He immediately Apparated to the next task location.
To be honest, it would be impossible to say he wasn’t touched by the gratitude of those he saved and the applause of the crowds afterward.
However, he was very clear about his purpose for doing all this, so he never lingered after saving someone, nor did he stick around to bask in the glory.
What he could do, though, was prioritize saving lives when choosing between conflicting tasks—especially when it involved children.
Of course, that’s not how the public and the media saw it.
To them, Leo seemed like a hero who would leave immediately after saving lives, without seeking recognition, glory, or any favors—a truly noble character who did good deeds without leaving a name.
Compared to Iron Man, Tony Stark, who loved to show off his suit, his victories, and bask in the admiration and applause of the masses, the new superhero couple, the Dark Sorcerer and the Scarlet Witch, seemed much more low-key and approachable.
And unlike Tony Stark, who dealt with big cases involving terrorists and evil organizations, Leo and the Scarlet Witch focused more on everyday incidents.
From bank robberies and building fires to lost cats and dogs, they covered it all.
As a result, they had now become the most popular couple in New York.
