- In Marvel: I Start by Marrying Scarlett Witch [Complete]
- MWM Chapter 134
“Here comes the ramen!”
As everyone chatted, Ayame brought out five bowls of ramen, one by one.
At this moment, except for Tenzō, Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke, as well as Leo, all subtly kept their eyes on Kakashi, who was sitting with his mask on.
It was clear that everyone wanted to take this opportunity during the meal to see what Kakashi, who always wore a mask, looked like.
Leo was also curious. It was said that Kakashi wore the mask due to a beauty mark on his mouth that his father, Sakumo, often teased him about when he was a child.
Kakashi, being as perceptive as ever, seemed to notice this.
“Why aren’t you eating?”
“Oh… right, right.”
The group quickly picked up their chopsticks, pretending to get ready to dig into their ramen while sneaking glances at Kakashi.
Seeing this, Kakashi also picked up his chopsticks and pretended to remove his mask as if he was about to eat his ramen.
Leo could clearly see Naruto and the others’ eyes widening with anticipation as they focused entirely on Kakashi’s face, eagerly waiting for him to remove his mask.
Even their chopsticks, raised halfway to their mouths, seemed frozen in mid-air.
However, just as Kakashi was about to take off his mask, he suddenly remembered something, loosened his grip on the chopsticks, and quickly pulled out three stamped papers from his pocket and placed them on the table.
“Ah, I almost forgot to tell you. I’ve applied for you to take part in the Chunin Exams, but it’s not mandatory. Here are the application forms. If you decide to go, please sign them.
Then, come to Classroom 301 at the school at 3 PM in six days.
Lastly, I must remind you that the Chunin Selection Exams are extremely brutal. Every year, many candidates die, so you should think carefully before making your decision!”
Hearing that Kakashi had already applied for them to participate in the Chunin Exams, the three were naturally thrilled, especially Naruto, who nearly jumped out of his seat.
Then, hearing about the brutal nature of the exams, each picked up their application form and fell into deep thought.
As Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke were lost in their own thoughts, Leo watched Kakashi quickly remove his mask, eat the entire bowl of ramen in less than five seconds, and then put his mask back on while wiping his mouth.
“Indeed, he does have a beauty mark!”
In those five seconds, Leo had enough time to take several good looks at Kakashi’s face.
He had to admit that without the mask, Kakashi was quite handsome, and even the beauty mark on his mouth did not detract from his appearance.
The only drawback was his lifeless, dead fish eyes.
“I have to participate! Ah!!! Kakashi-sensei, you… you… you…”
Ten seconds later, as Naruto and the others snapped out of their introspection, each having decided to participate in the Chunin Exams no matter how dangerous, they suddenly noticed that Kakashi had already finished his ramen, their eyes nearly popping out.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Kakashi looked at the three with a feigned look of confusion.
“N-nothing.”
The three lowered their heads, enveloped in a dejected aura.
Their rare chance to see their teacher’s face clearly had passed in their moment of distraction.
Leo laughed heartily at this, also noting the trace of envy on Tenzō’s face.
……
After finishing their ramen, the group accompanied Leo for a while in Konoha before going their separate ways to their homes.
Over the next few days, Leo rested at night and spent his days exploring Konoha with Tenzō. Officially, he was admiring the scenery, but in reality, he was surveying the terrain.
He visited almost every accessible place in Konoha and had memorized the general layout of the village.
Konoha Village was situated below a cliff, surrounded by a thick, tall wooden wall with four gates: east, west, south, and north, all protected by powerful barriers. Any non-Konoha ninja attempting to breach the wall would be immediately detected by the barrier team.
The main entrance was the south gate, which was the one Leo used. The other three gates were generally not used for regular passage.
The village was divided by a river, said to be the one that separated the Senju and Uchiha clans. The First Hokage and Madara had first met by this river as children and became friends.
The southwest corner of Konoha was primarily occupied by the Hyuga clan and the former Uchiha clan’s territory, while the main road running north and south was where the remnants of the Uzumaki clan were, now home to ordinary villagers.
There were also various shops like Tenten ninja tool store, candy stores, flower shops, and so on.
In the southeast, besides more ordinary residences, the most noticeable feature was the Konoha ninja dormitory where many single ninjas lived.
The northern side of the river was the bustling area of the village, home to the ninja academy, the Ino-Shika-Chō clan’s territory, the Sarutobi clan’s territory, the hot spring street, ramen shops, barbecue and snack streets, the hospital, the cemetery, the news department, the Hokage Tower, and the security force headquarters.
The villa where Leo was staying had actually been vacated by the Sarutobi clan.
The area north of the Hokage Rock’s cliff was occupied by various training grounds. Leo guessed that the ROOT base might also be in that extensive area.
Just earlier, while wandering near Training Ground No. 4 on the east side, he happened to encounter Danzo, bandaged and accompanied by two subordinates, heading towards the Hokage Tower.
“Greetings, Your Highness!”
Upon seeing Leo, Danzo greeted him politely.
Although Konoha was not directly controlled by the daimyo or the Fire Country’s nobles, most of its resources and financial aid came from the Fire Country’s daimyo. So, despite his contempt for the Fire Country’s nobles, Danzo maintained a good outward appearance.
Of course, another reason was his ongoing contact with Orochimaru and the knowledge that the Third Hokage was near death. Once the Third Hokage passed away, the selection of the next Hokage would follow.
The Fire Country nobles did not have the authority to appoint the Hokage unless the previous Hokage had designated a successor.
If the previous Hokage died without naming a successor and Konoha’s higher-ups were unable to agree on a new Hokage, the daimyo and other nobles could choose from the candidates proposed by Konoha’s high-ranking officials.
Therefore, Danzo would naturally not neglect Leo, the prince.
“You must be Danzo-sama. My uncle has mentioned you. He said that you are the most capable and decisive leader in Konoha, aside from the Third Hokage.
Seeing you today, Danzo-sama, you indeed have an exceptional demeanor. It is a great fortune for the Fire Country to have both you and the Hokage!”
Leo spoke to Danzo in a tone that conveyed his admiration and respect.
