- In Marvel: I Start by Marrying Scarlett Witch [Complete]
- MWM Chapter 155
On an empty plot of land five kilometers away from the gold exchange, Leo stopped, looked around, and then nodded in satisfaction.
“Alright, let’s kill here!”
“Here? Who are we killing, it?”
Hidan turned his head to look around but only saw a squirrel on a tree ahead; there were no other creatures in sight.
Kakuzu looked at Hidan with an expression that suggested he thought Hidan was an idiot.
“No, I need Mr. Hidan to assist with a Jashin ritual.”
At this, Leo turned around with a smile and took out a glass bottle containing a small amount of blood, which he had obtained from Danzo during the Konoha Invasion Plan.
When Kakuzu saw the bottle in Leo’s hand, he suddenly understood what the other party meant.
But Hidan wasn’t having it.
“No, I refuse! My faith doesn’t allow me to kill in such a way. I need to see the victim’s anguish and pain, to watch them die little by little under my ritual, with despair in their eyes. Lord Jashin enjoys these things…”
“Shut up, you idiot!”
Kakuzu frowned at this; after all, it was three hundred million ryo.
“Get started. You can do the things you like on the next mission.”
“Kakuzu, you must respect my faith.”
Hidan continued to shake his head.
“Five hundred million. If that’s still not enough, forget it.”
Leo put the bottle away again.
Kakuzu turned to Hidan, and five strange masks entwined with black threads slowly emerged from his cloak:
“This is a mission, a mission that must be completed. I don’t want to hear your refusal!”
“Fine, fine, but let me pray to Lord Jashin first.”
Seeing Kakuzu getting serious, Hidan had no choice but to remove his necklace and begin the prayer ritual.
There was no other way; after all, he couldn’t beat Kakuzu.
“You always make things so troublesome.”
Kakuzu put the masks back into his cloak.
While praying, Hidan retorted irritably:
“I agree it’s a hassle, but the precepts of our faith are strict, and there’s nothing I can do about it.”
After finishing his prayer, Hidan took the bottle containing Danzo’s blood from Leo’s hand. He first drew some of his own blood to create the sacrificial symbol on the ground and then used Danzo’s blood to complete the Jashin ritual.
“Alright, the mission is over. This kind of killing feels so unsatisfying. This is the last time.”
Once the ritual was complete, Hidan took out a kunai and stabbed it into his own heart without flinching. Ignoring the blood flowing from his heart, he wore a bored expression.
He enjoyed killing, but not like this—there was no sense of accomplishment.
“I’m sorry, but the mission isn’t finished yet. The person you need to kill can revive eleven times. For one minute after each revival, he won’t die, so you need to kill him ten more times.”
Leo explained to Hidan, who stood there unharmed despite having pierced his own heart.
This world’s Earth wasn’t just about ninjutsu; ninjutsu and chakra only came into being after the divine tree. In fact, before Kaguya Otsutsuki brought the Ten-Tails to Earth, there were other extraordinary powers besides the samurai.
For example, the three great sacred places, various forms of sorcery and divine arts, all of which still exist today, only enhanced by the integration of chakra.
This includes gods and spirits like the Shinigami from the Reaper Death Seal, Hidan’s Jashin, the Senju Kannon and Fudō Myōō from the Fire Temple’s ninjutsu, the Hell Path of the Rinnegan, and the gates summoned through the Rashomon and Myōjinmon.
In short, if you delve deeper, it’s a world far more complex than it appears.
“What? I have to do this boring task ten more times?”
Hidan immediately threatened to go on strike again.
Leo turned directly to Kakuzu, who stepped forward with a mix of persuasion and threats to finally get Hidan to continue working.
One minute later, Hidan stabbed himself again. Another minute later, he stabbed his heart once more. This process continued until the tenth time, when Hidan finally lost it.
No matter what Kakuzu said, even threatening to fight him on the spot, Hidan refused to continue. He felt insulted, and his faith had been disrespected.
Kakuzu couldn’t actually fight Hidan; Hidan might be brainless, but he couldn’t afford to act impulsively.
Although Kakuzu had long planned to send Hidan to meet his Jashin once the organization’s missions were complete.
“How about this? We’ve killed your target ten times; there’s only one left. Would you be okay with paying four hundred million ryo?”
Kakuzu turned to Leo.
Leo said nothing. Once the cooldown for the tenth kill had ended, he opened the Eight Gates, activating the first and second gates. His body became a blur as he rushed to the ritual area where Hidan stood.
“Alright, the eleventh time. Your mission is complete. I will pay you five hundred million ryo as promised.”
He drew a long sword from his task space and drove it through Hidan’s heart.
His main target was Danzo’s last Mangekyō Sharingan, so he couldn’t possibly agree to Kakuzu’s terms.
Since Hidan refused to do it, he would handle it himself.
As long as the ritual wasn’t interrupted and the formation wasn’t destroyed, it didn’t matter whether Hidan harmed himself or someone else did—it would work the same way.
Frankly, Hidan’s strength lay in his curse technique and immortality; in other areas, he wasn’t that formidable.
He didn’t know any other ninjutsu, and his taijutsu was at best on par with a jonin.
Hidan’s case is one where, if you don’t know his capabilities, even a Kage-level ninja could be cursed and killed by his ritual.
But if you know his abilities in advance, he’s actually one of the weakest members of the Akatsuki.
Though his immortality through the power of Jashin is formidable, as long as you avoid giving him any of your blood, you can neutralize him by dismembering him and burying the parts separately.
Just like what Shikamaru did.
Others could use wide-area Water Release techniques to prevent him from performing his ritual, control his mind with genjutsu, seal his body with sealing techniques, or summon reanimated shinobi through Edo Tensei to fight him.
If you know his abilities beforehand, there are plenty of ways to deal with him, unlike Kakuzu, who has formidable brute strength.
“You! How dare you stab me like that!”
Hidan, furious at the insult to his faith, exploded with anger when he realized Leo had stabbed him. He picked up his scythe-shaped weapon, prepared to make Leo taste the wrath of his curse.
At this point, he no longer cared about the mission or the money.
Kakuzu immediately moved to stop him. He didn’t mind if Hidan cursed Leo after they got paid, but they hadn’t been paid yet, so he couldn’t allow it.
However, the next moment, his eyes widened in shock, freezing him in place.
“Avada Kedavra!”
It turned out that Leo, seeing that Hidan intended to kill him, quickly drew the Elder Wand and, with speed far surpassing Hidan’s, cast a green Killing Curse at Hidan’s head.
Even with his immortality, Hidan, whose body could reassemble itself from countless pieces, lost the light in his eyes and collapsed to the ground, dead.
“It seems your immortality is limited to your body, not your soul.”
Leo murmured as he looked down at Hidan’s lifeless body.
