MWM Chapter 156

This entry is part 157 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

Originally, if Hidan had just completed the mission honestly, upholding the spirit of the contract, Leo had no intention of killing him.

But this guy was always being difficult, causing unnecessary trouble, and in the end, he even tried to break the contract by cursing Leo to death. So, he couldn’t blame Leo for being ruthless.

Though Leo had suspected that the Killing Curse might kill Hidan, he wasn’t entirely sure until he used it. It turns out Hidan’s so-called immortality was indeed quite flawed.

In a way, this outcome was for the best. Hidan’s strength wasn’t that impressive, but his curse technique was a real nuisance. If someone ever got a hold of Leo’s blood and gave it to Hidan, who then used the curse technique on him, it would be a huge problem.

Moreover, this duo of immortals often took assassination missions, and who knows if they might have taken a mission to kill Chiriku. Eliminating one of them in advance was a form of precaution.

“You violated the contract, forced your employer to act, and then tried to backstab the employer. That’s not very professional, Mr. Kakuzu!”

After killing Hidan, Leo turned and scolded Kakuzu.

It took Kakuzu a moment to regain his composure. A flash of wariness crossed his eyes as he said, “Indeed, Hidan was quite disobedient. Since you’ve already killed him, I assume you’re ready to pay the mission fee?”

“Of course!”

Leo pulled out five large chests from a small pouch at his waist and tossed them to Kakuzu.

“Here is five hundred million ryo, the reward for this mission.”

Kakuzu opened one of the chests and took a quick glance. Each chest indeed contained around five hundred million ryo in banknotes, so he placed all the chests behind him, preparing to deal with Leo.

Even though he found Hidan annoying and had planned to kill him eventually, it was one thing if he did it himself. Letting someone else kill Hidan and not avenging him wouldn’t sit well with the organization.

However, just as Kakuzu was about to act, Leo spoke again:

“I have another mission for you, also for five hundred million ryo. Would you be interested, Mr. Kakuzu?”

“What is it?”

Kakuzu quietly withdrew his hands, which had been ready to form seals.

Leo pulled out a large number of scrolls from his pouch and placed them on the ground, then took out a pen and ink:

“I know you’re skilled in the five nature transformations. If you write down all the ninjutsu you know in the five elements, I’m willing to pay you five hundred million ryo as compensation.”

Currently, Leo had already become a disciple of the Third Hokage, so he was bound to learn many ninjutsu in the five elements in the future. But if he could get even more, that would be ideal.

The Third Hokage mastered the five elements’ ninjutsu of Konoha, while Kakuzu had mastered those of the Hidden Waterfall Village and the ninjutsu he had taken from other village shinobi over the years.

After a moment of silence, Kakuzu said:

“Add two hundred million more, and I’ll throw in my self-created combination techniques.”

“Deal!”

Leo immediately pulled out seven more chests. After checking the contents, Kakuzu began to write furiously on the scrolls.

An hour later, Leo looked over the scrolls filled with ninjutsu, satisfied as he packed them all into his small pouch.

At this point, Kakuzu placed the twelve chests under a nearby tree and approached Leo, forming seals with his hands. Four faceless, mask-like creatures emerged from his body.

“What are you doing, Mr. Kakuzu?”

Leo looked at Kakuzu, his face showing no surprise, as if he had anticipated this scene.

Kakuzu didn’t waste any words, directly stating:

“The transaction is complete. You’re no longer my employer, so I’m going to kill you and take your head back to the organization as a token.”

With that, he formed more seals:

“Lightning Style: False Darkness!”

A spear of lightning shot from Kakuzu’s hand, straight towards Leo.

“Protego!”

Leo waved his wand, summoning a protective shield that blocked the lightning spear.

However, in less than a second, the shield cracked and shattered.

“Such power!”

Leo’s eyes lit up as he quickly activated the first two gates of the Eight Gates technique, narrowly dodging the lightning spear.

“Boom!”

With a loud explosion, a huge crater was left where Leo had been standing.

Back when Kabuto’s Water Dragon Bullet, Kimimaro’s Ten-Finger Drilling Bullets, and Kidomaru’s Spider War Bow hit his shield simultaneously, it took three seconds for it to break. Yet Kakuzu’s Lightning Style: False Darkness shattered it in less than a second.

It was undeniable that Lightning Style was the most destructive of the five elemental releases, but reaching this level of power indicated that False Darkness was an exceptionally high-level technique even within the Lightning Style.

Leo was pleased because this technique was also recorded in the ninjutsu scrolls Kakuzu had written.

“Your speed is impressive, but can you dodge all five elements?”

Kakuzu formed more seals, and the four black masked creatures opened their mouths.

“Earth Style: Earth Spear!”

“Wind Style: Pressure Damage!”

“Lightning Style: False Darkness!”

“Fire Style: Head Mincing Pain!”

“Water Style: Water Curtain!”

Five advanced elemental ninjutsu surged towards Leo’s location. Except for the Lightning Style, which was a single-target attack, the other four were large-scale area attacks, making them impossible to evade.

“This is enough for today. We’ll spar again if we get the chance.”

Seeing this, Leo quickly cast a Smoke Bomb spell, then used Apparition to teleport away.

Without the ability to use the Fire Temple’s techniques or his second form, relying solely on magic, he couldn’t compete with Kakuzu, who had Kage-level strength. So, he decided to retreat for now.

Using the Fire Temple’s techniques or his second form would make it easy for anyone to identify him as the Prince of the Fire Nation, while using magic would only remind them of the mysterious figure who had stolen the Scroll of Seals.

Leo wasn’t ready to confront the Akatsuki, whose members were mostly Kage-level, so he couldn’t afford to reveal his true identity.

After a devastating barrage of ninjutsu, Kakuzu scanned the surroundings and frowned again:

“Who the hell is this guy, to escape even under these circumstances!”

Confirming that Leo had indeed disappeared without a trace, Kakuzu had no choice but to hoist Hidan’s corpse onto his shoulder and take out a sealing scroll, intending to seal the twelve chests filled with 1,2 billion ryo.

However, when he lifted the first chest, his pupils constricted. He quickly opened it, only to find that inside was a single one hundred ryo note.

In a panic, he threw Hidan’s body to the ground and opened all twelve chests one by one.

“I will kill you!!!”

Even Kakuzu, who had remained calm when Hidan was killed, let out an enraged roar.

All twelve chests, which should have contained one billion ryo each, now only held one hundred ryo each. In other words, after all this work, with one teammate dead and so many ninjutsu given away, he was left with just twelve hundred ryo.

Meanwhile, in the room at the Prince of the Fire Nation’s palace, Leo muttered to himself:

“By now, the Copying Charm’s effect should have worn off.”
