MWM Chapter 167

This entry is part 168 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“The Gungnir is not just a powerful artifact; it’s also the key to controlling the Destroyer. Without the Gungnir, Loki can’t command the Destroyer. It will only follow its last directive to keep attacking Leo. Once Leo is killed, the Destroyer would stop attacking and not target anyone else.”

“I wonder if the Gungnir can break through the Destroyer’s defenses.”

Stowing his wand in his mission space, Leo gripped the spear with both hands and charged toward the advancing Destroyer.

Loki’s illusions were impressive, but they had a fatal flaw: the illusions he created made no sound when they walked, and his daggers made no noise or resistance against the wind when they struck.

While ordinary people might not notice these discrepancies, Leo could easily sense something was off.

The illusions Loki used were more akin to a form of virtual projection rather than true illusion magic.

To be honest, this was less convincing than the illusion techniques from the Naruto world, which could manipulate all five senses and even cause real physical harm through psychological projection.

However, mastering illusion techniques wasn’t easy for most ninja unless they had natural talents like the Sharingan.

“Slash!”

The Gungnir, famed for piercing through anything, indeed went right through the Destroyer, but it was of little use. Merely piercing the Destroyer did nothing to stop it; it could still continue spewing flames at you.

The main issue was that Leo couldn’t wield the powerful Odin force contained within the spear. Otherwise, it might have been possible to destroy the Destroyer.

“If that’s the case, I’ll just have to send you away for now.”

Realizing the spear wouldn’t work, he tucked it into a small pouch at his waist. Then, with a quick sidestep, he slipped under the Destroyer, avoiding its flame jet, and rose up to slam his back into its leg.

“Mountain Lean!”

A ferocious force exploded from Leo’s back, sending the Destroyer flying again. This time, however, Leo had deliberately adjusted his angle, causing the Destroyer to fly off the Bifrost and into the endless expanse of space below.

He couldn’t destroy the Destroyer, but he could temporarily banish it to the cosmos.

One important reason he chose to fight in Asgard instead of on Earth was that if they couldn’t defeat the Destroyer, they could at least throw it off the Bifrost.

“It seems this doesn’t count as completing the mission. I’ll need to get Loki to deactivate his control over the Destroyer!”

Seeing that his side quest panel hadn’t shown a completion notification, Leo dashed toward Loki after knocking the Destroyer away.

Loki had no intention of engaging in close combat with Leo, who could fight the Destroyer head-on. He immediately took out a box and opened it, aiming at the rapidly approaching Leo.

A violent burst of cold wind and icy power erupted from the box, forcing Leo to halt and retreat.

That box was the Casket of Ancient Winters, the source of the Frost Giants’ power. As a Frost Giant, Loki could use its power to attack.

If Leo got too close, he could easily be frozen solid by the Casket’s power. Even with his formidable physical strength, it would be difficult to break free quickly.

“Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu!”

Seeing the powerful cold air approaching, Leo quickly formed hand seals, creating twenty shadow clones. They paired up to unleash a combination ninjutsu they had learned from Kakuzu’s scroll.

“Fire Style: Head Flaming — Wind Style: Wind Pressure! Combined Jutsu: Blazing Wind Wave!”

A high-level Wind Style combined with a high-level Fire Style enhanced the Fire Style’s power to its peak. With ten pairs of shadow clones working together, the resulting flames surged forward like an endless sea of fire.

Even the mighty power of the Casket of Ancient Winters was temporarily suppressed by the sea of fire unleashed by Leo’s clones.

Inside the transport hall, everyone in the chaotic battle was stunned by the intense clash of flames and ice outside.

“Seems like next time I should consider adding fire and ice resistance to my suit during the upgrade.”

Tony, watching the terrifying fire and ice showdown outside, couldn’t help but think to himself.

He imagined himself in that situation and realized that with his current suit’s capabilities, it wouldn’t withstand such extreme fire and ice damage.

“It’s the Casket of Ancient Winters!”

Frost Giant leader Laufey’s expression turned ecstatic when he saw the box in Loki’s hand.

“Hold them off; I’ll go retrieve the Casket.”

Kicking Heimdall away, Laufey gave instructions to his Frost Giant subordinates and prepared to leave the transport hall to retrieve the Casket from the Bifrost.

Once he regained the Casket of Ancient Winters, he could restore his power. At that point, apart from Odin, no one in Asgard would be a match for him.

With Odin still in slumber and at his weakest, Laufey saw a perfect opportunity to freeze all of Asgard.

“Don’t underestimate me. Everyone, get down!”

Tony, dodging the large ice spears thrown by the Frost Giants, knew they couldn’t let Laufey succeed. He shouted to Thor and the others.

He then stopped conserving his Arc Reactor’s energy, activating two powerful laser cutters from the back of his suit’s hands, spinning 360 degrees mid-air.

Where the laser beams passed, the strong Frost Giants were sliced in half.

Only Laufey, protected by a thick ice armor formed from his own powers, managed to withstand the laser’s cutting attack.

However, with all his Frost Giant followers taken down, Laufey found himself surrounded again by the Warriors Three, Sif, Heimdall, and Tony, trapped in a difficult battle.

Though they were all injured, their numbers were enough to keep Laufey from leaving the transport hall.

“Well done!”

Seeing the situation in the transport hall, Leo, who had used his wand to Apparate invisibly behind Loki, couldn’t help but give a silent thumbs-up.

Having a smart and reliable teammate like Tony was invaluable because they wouldn’t drag you down and could actually contribute.

“It’s over, Loki!”

Reappearing, Leo charged at Loki, who was focused on suppressing the flames with the Casket of Ancient Winters. Before Loki could react, Leo delivered a powerful kick to his chin, sending him flying into the air.

Stunned by the powerful blow, Loki’s mind went blank, preventing him from concentrating on controlling the Casket. The box promptly snapped shut and fell to the ground.

To prevent any further mishaps, Leo didn’t let up. As Loki was sent flying, he grabbed Loki’s ankle, tensed all his muscles and chakra, and began smashing him back and forth on the Bifrost.

“Leaf Shadow Dance: 64 Hits! One hit, two hits… eight hits… sixteen hits… thirty-two hits… sixty-four hits!”
