- In Marvel: I Start by Marrying Scarlett Witch [Complete]
- MWM Chapter 186
After returning from Hogsmeade and bidding farewell to Newt, Leo went back to the Fawley family estate.
He didn’t tell Credence about his lineage because there was no need. When Dumbledore finished his investigation, the truth would come out naturally. As for whether Credence would choose to follow Aberforth, whom he had never met, or stay with Leo, who had brought him into the wizarding world and taught him magic, Leo was confident.
Even if Credence did choose Aberforth, it wouldn’t matter much. His public identity was already aligned with Dumbledore.
His current goal was to learn as much magic as possible from Dumbledore to strengthen himself. Credence, when fully trained, would be a good helper, but having him was just a bonus, not a necessity.
Given the rapid pace of his own power growth, which had slightly exceeded his expectations, he realized that by the next time he entered the world, many things might be solvable on his own.
Initially, his plan was to use his public identity to leverage Dumbledore’s influence and gradually build a formidable force to gain a say in the International Confederation of Wizards.
Meanwhile, under a covert identity, he would align with Grindelwald and slowly erode Grindelwald’s power from within. Then, after Grindelwald was defeated by Dumbledore, he would consolidate all of Grindelwald’s forces.
Combining both his public and covert identities would effectively allow him to control the entire wizarding world.
After that, he planned to take over the Muggle world, which at this point didn’t yet have advanced technology or nuclear weapons, and merge it with the wizarding world to unify the entire globe.
His ultimate goal was to fully develop magic in the world, turning it into a flourishing magical society, and to use the combined wisdom and resources of the world to enhance his own power.
However, when he learned that the next small world in his main quest would be a Xianxia (immortal cultivation) world, he realized that there might be no need to go through all that trouble.
If he played his cards right, by the time he re-entered the wizarding world, his powers might surpass those of both Dumbledore and Grindelwald, making many things much easier to manage.
His current aim was to learn as much as possible from Dumbledore and Grindelwald in the next five months and to gain the high completion reward upon returning to the main world.
As the saying goes, plans can’t keep up with changes. His earlier plans were based on his original power level, but as his strength grew, they became less relevant.
Credence, who he had initially regarded as a significant asset, had become somewhat less crucial.
Even though he hadn’t yet faced Dumbledore or Grindelwald, he felt that with his enhanced body, the numerous ninjutsu and forbidden techniques he had learned in the Naruto world, and the power of the Ten Rings, he could unleash his full strength and might not necessarily lose to either of them.
After all, he understood most of Dumbledore’s and Grindelwald’s magic, but they had no knowledge of the ninjutsu and forbidden techniques he had learned.
This gap in intelligence was already a significant advantage.
“I’ll need to go to the black market and buy a Portkey first,” he thought.
Late at night, Leo left the estate and headed to Knockturn Alley.
It was too troublesome to rent a Portkey from the black market every time he needed to go to France to meet Grindelwald. He needed his own Portkey to efficiently use his time learning magic—spending days in France with Grindelwald and nights in Hogsmeade with Dumbledore.
Unfortunately, his schedule was too tight to study alchemy himself, so he couldn’t make a Portkey on his own.
In reality, the alchemy of this world was quite advanced. From Portkeys that could transport over any distance, to magical stones that could turn magic into gold and brew the Elixir of Life, to multifunctional enchanted cars with their own consciousness, and the Sorting Hat—this was a vast field of magical study.
To master it required a significant investment of time, and since it didn’t have a substantial impact on his immediate power level, he decided to put it aside for now.
The next morning, after waking up, Leo gave Bally some instructions, changed his appearance with the Disguise Charm, and took out a book from his small bag, channeling magic into it to activate the spatial magic within.
The book floated in mid-air, opened automatically, and then dispersed into countless pages that wrapped around him, making him disappear from the room.
In a forest on the outskirts of Paris, France, Leo reappeared amidst a swirl of spinning pages, which then reassembled into a book.
He picked up the book, put it back in his small bag, and vanished again with Apparition.
Indeed, this book was the high-level Portkey he had purchased last night, spending nearly half of the Fawley family’s remaining Galleon fortune in the black market.
Anything could serve as a Portkey—pots, pans, clothes, shoes—there were no restrictions. However, the function and effectiveness of a Portkey depended on the skill of the wizard who created it.
Some Portkeys could only teleport from one fixed point to another, while others were more rare and advanced, allowing the user to teleport freely to preset coordinates.
The quality of a Portkey also affected how many people it could transport—some could carry just one person, while others could transport dozens.
The book Leo bought from the black market was a particularly high-grade Portkey. It had been crafted by the renowned Charms expert and professor from Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Eulalie Hicks.
Hicks had made two Portkeys—one for herself and one as a gift to a friend at the American Magical Congress—but one was stolen by a dark wizard and ended up on the black market.
Its value was so high that no buyer had come forward until Leo discovered it and purchased it yesterday.
This teleportation book allowed wizards to anchor coordinates in advance for transport. It could hold two sets of coordinates at a time and transport up to thirty people.
After purchasing it, Leo had anchored one set of coordinates in Knockturn Alley, then took a black market Portkey to Paris to set the second coordinate in the forest he had just emerged from.
Once he had finished setting the coordinates, he returned to Knockturn Alley using the teleportation book, then back to his estate, where he cleared the initial coordinates and reset them to his bedroom.
Now, he could use the teleportation book to travel back and forth between his bedroom and the forest outside Paris.
In an upscale residential villa in the Paris suburbs, Leo suddenly appeared.
Several dark wizards in the living room, seeing someone Apparate, raised their wands warily. Upon recognizing Leo, they relaxed immediately and showed respect.
This was Grindelwald’s top wizard, who had once single-handedly stormed the American Magical Congress, using his own powerful magic to break Grindelwald out of the most secure prison cell.
His strength was truly terrifying.
Dark wizards respected power, and with Leo’s strength and accomplishments, no dark wizard under Grindelwald dared challenge him.
Thus, from the first time he arrived at this hideout, Leo had commanded respect from everyone.
