MWM Chapter 199

This entry is part 200 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“What do we do now?”

Outside Père Lachaise Cemetery, all the Aurors watched the growing sea of blue flames and the fiery dragon within it with grave concern and fear in their eyes.

At this rate, even if they could Apparate out of Paris, the Fiendfyre left by Grindelwald would burn the entire city and all its Muggle inhabitants to ashes.

Such an outcome would leave no room for any peaceful resolution between Muggles and wizards, inevitably leading to war.

“Everyone, form a circle, and place your wands into the ground. Together, we’ll cast *Finite Incantatem* to neutralize them!”

At that moment, a trembling old man walked over from outside—it was Nicolas Flamel, the nearly six-hundred-year-old alchemist.

Though Nicolas Flamel’s body had deteriorated to the point where he was weaker than an ordinary Muggle, his magical power remained strong. While not as powerful as Dumbledore or Grindelwald, he was still far stronger than top-tier wizards like Theseus and Newt.

With him there, and with many Aurors regaining their senses thanks to Leo’s intervention and not joining Grindelwald, sealing away the Fiendfyre left by Grindelwald shouldn’t pose too much of a problem.

As for Leo, his magical abilities were limited, so his participation wasn’t essential, but he certainly wouldn’t just stand by and do nothing.

“Hurry up! I’ll try to suppress the flames and keep them from spreading further!”

Leo leaped onto the back of his silver dragon Patronus, riding it skyward until he was directly above Père Lachaise Cemetery.

Then, bolstered by his second form, he unleashed the Morning Peacock once again, aiming to suppress the massive Fiendfyre dragon below.

A Patronus can fly and deliver some physical attacks, so if it’s large and strong enough, it can carry a wizard during flight.

However, very few wizards in the wizarding world possess a corporeal Patronus, and most of those are small animals like cats or dogs, which, while capable of flight, aren’t strong enough to carry a person. This fact was generally unknown to most wizards.

So when Theseus and the others saw Leo actually flying on his Patronus, they were nearly left speechless in astonishment.

“*Finite Incantatem!*”

With Nicolas Flamel’s shout, more than fifty surviving Aurors sprang into action.

Led by Nicolas Flamel, Newt, Theseus, and Tina, they Apparated to the four corners of Père Lachaise Cemetery and planted their wands into the ground to cast the counter-spell.

*Finite Incantatem* is an advanced version of the *Finite* charm and requires multiple wizards to cast it together. Aside from a few exceptions, like the Killing Curse, it can neutralize most spells.

However, it works best when both sides are of roughly equal strength; if the difference is too great, it might not succeed.

If Nicolas Flamel hadn’t arrived this time, the outcome might have been very different.

As the wizards planted their wands into the ground, a united square-shaped wall of fire rose and quickly surged toward the sea of Fiendfyre and the giant fiery dragon.

Thanks to Leo’s powerful suppression with the Morning Peacock, the Fiendfyre was soon safely neutralized.

Riding the silver dragon back down, Leo leaped from mid-air, reverted to his normal form, and put away his wand and Patronus, greeted by the respectful gazes of everyone present.

Although he hadn’t made a superhero-style landing, his actions had certainly been worthy of a hero.

Facing Grindelwald alone, bringing him down from his pedestal, restoring many wizards to their senses, significantly diminishing the impact of Grindelwald’s rally, saving numerous Aurors, and helping to extinguish the Fiendfyre that could have destroyed all of Paris—he had done it all.

After everything was over, Leo, Theseus, and the Aurors went to the French Ministry of Magic, where they met with the high-ranking members of the International Confederation of Wizards, representing various Ministries of Magic.

After learning the full details, the high-ranking officials of the International Confederation of Wizards gave him high praise and even proposed awarding him the Order of Merlin, Second Class, in recognition of his contributions.

Leo understood well that the International Confederation of Wizards was currently in an awkward position.

Firstly, Grindelwald’s lieutenant, the Mysterious One, had dueled Dumbledore and retreated calmly. While Grindelwald’s rally wasn’t perfect, it had formally initiated an international campaign against Muggles and the Statute of Secrecy.

They desperately needed a wizard they could hold up as a symbol to maintain the Confederation’s dignity.

And as a descendant of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, Leo’s reputation among pure-blood wizards was significant. Furthermore, having repeatedly foiled Grindelwald’s schemes and fought him to a standstill, he was the perfect candidate to be promoted as the vanguard against Grindelwald and his followers.

If it weren’t so excessive, the International Confederation of Wizards might have even considered awarding him the Order of Merlin, First Class, to suppress Grindelwald’s growing arrogance to the greatest extent possible.

Naturally, Leo gladly accepted this; after all, it brought him only benefits.

However, what no one knew was that on that very night, the recipient of the Order of Merlin, Second Class, had changed his appearance and arrived at Grindelwald’s new base.

There, he was welcomed like a hero, greeted with cheers and admiration from all of Grindelwald’s followers.

Even Grindelwald’s attitude toward him had improved considerably.

The rally hadn’t gone as planned. To achieve his grand vision, Grindelwald now had two obstacles to overcome: Dumbledore and a new one named Tom Fawley. Thus, Leo’s value in his eyes had also risen.

The following day, the events of the previous day dominated the headlines of all major newspapers, and the dual identities of Leo as both the Mysterious One and Tom Fawley set the entire wizarding world ablaze.

In the months that followed, Leo alternated between representing both sides in skirmishes, continuously honing his magical skills under both Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

Both Dumbledore and Grindelwald took a keen interest in him, teaching him their most treasured magical secrets.

He even staged several high-profile duels using his dual identities.

In reality, it was simple—his true form would battle against a hundred shadow clones. His true form was Tom Fawley, while the shadow clones were the Mysterious One.

The battles were always grand and spectacular, full of roaring explosions. No one else could see through the deception, and during these fights, he often used spells he had learned from both Grindelwald and Dumbledore.

For example, the shadow clones would use the Fiendfyre Curse, while his true form would use spells like *Incendio Maxima*.

When the Mysterious One was at a disadvantage, he would seek guidance from Grindelwald; when Tom Fawley was struggling, he would consult Dumbledore. Both were eager to teach him, seemingly competing with each other in secret.

In his spare time, he also visited Nicolas Flamel to begin his foundational studies in alchemy.

He didn’t neglect the Ministry of Magic either. Leveraging his reputation and the Confederation’s reliance on him, he gained access to many magical texts that ordinary wizards could never see.

And so, staying busy, the five-month period in this small world quickly came to its final day.
