MWM Chapter 202

This entry is part 203 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“What’s going on?”

In the command hall of the Chitauri mothership, the Chitauri elder frowned as the alarm blared.

A Chitauri soldier accessed the surveillance footage and reported:

“Elder, it appears a human has breached the mothership.”

“A human? Send the nearby soldiers to deal with him.”

The Chitauri elder waved his staff dismissively.

He initially thought this mission would proceed smoothly. After all, according to his intelligence, Earth’s human technology was exceptionally primitive, incapable of even leaving their planet and still confined to the surface level.

However, shortly after the spatial portal was opened, they were met with a fierce attack from an unknown entity.

He still couldn’t figure out what was blocking the portal entrance on the other side. The intense flames and lightning were preventing their soldiers from passing through the wormhole and entering Earth.

Could Asgard have sent someone over?

But logically, that shouldn’t be the case, because Lord Thanos had personally led a feigned assault on the Dwarven realm, one of the Nine Realms. Asgard’s army, if deployed, would likely head there first.

The Dwarves truly belonged to Asgard; the weapons of Asgard’s army were primarily forged by them, and Asgard had an obligation to protect the Dwarven realm from invasion.

At this moment, the Chitauri elder’s attention was completely focused on the wormhole’s entrance, unaware that the real threat had already breached the mothership.

However, this focus didn’t last long, or rather, it lasted only a few seconds before the alarms in the command hall escalated tenfold.

When he had the soldier pull up the virtual surveillance feed, his pupils constricted, and he let out a startled cry of disbelief.

“How is this possible? How could a human from Earth be so powerful?!”

“Morning Peacock!”

Hearing the shrill alarms ringing throughout the mothership and seeing the swarm of Chitauri soldiers armed with laser guns ahead, Leo smirked and raised his hand to unleash the Sixth Gate technique from the Eight Gates Release Formation.

Countless flames burst forth, annihilating the Chitauri soldiers before they could even get close, causing significant damage to the surrounding areas of the mothership.

His goal was to destroy this massive mothership as quickly as possible, so his next course of action was straightforward: destroy, destroy wildly, using all his power to cause maximum destruction.

After unleashing Morning Peacock and wiping out two squads of Chitauri soldiers, Leo deactivated the Eight Gates Formation and pulled out his Elder Wand once again.

Though the Eight Gates Formation was powerful, it was also incredibly taxing on the body. Even in his second form, he couldn’t maintain it indefinitely, and his chakra wouldn’t replenish quickly enough.

So, in less perilous situations, it was better to use magic for his attacks.

“Fiendfyre!”

He swung his wand, and blue flames erupted, forming a dragon that flew into the large hole he had just created with Morning Peacock, leading deeper into the mothership.

His mastery of the Fiendfyre curse wasn’t as terrifying as Grindelwald’s, but he could control it well enough to avoid self-harm.

Unlike other flames, Fiendfyre, as a dark magic, has a certain level of consciousness and burns incessantly, unable to be extinguished by conventional means.

It could only be stopped by a powerful counter-spell, as in Paris, or by physically cutting off the burning parts.

Normally, releasing Fiendfyre inside the mothership would eventually lead to its complete destruction. However, due to the mothership’s vast structure, this could take a long time, potentially allowing for unexpected events.

For example, if the Chitauri managed to isolate certain sections of the mothership, it might still function normally.

Or perhaps some of the Chitauri technology might have unique methods to extinguish Fiendfyre.

Never underestimate the power of advanced technologies in the universe. While magic is mystical, it fundamentally achieves the same ends as technology, just in different ways.

To the people of Earth, magic seems wondrous and incomprehensible, simply because Earth’s technology hasn’t advanced enough to decode magic.

Just like his use of Apparition, some high-tech gadgets could achieve similar results, and there were even devices designed to interfere with spatial magic, causing it to fail.

Given sufficiently advanced technology, all magic could theoretically be replicated and countered with tech.

There are many paths to power, but ultimately, they all lead to the same end.

So, after casting the Fiendfyre, he continued resolutely toward the mothership’s central area.

He wasn’t sure where the core of the mothership was and hadn’t captured a Chitauri soldier for interrogation—mostly because, even if he did, he wouldn’t understand what they were saying. But heading toward the center seemed like the logical choice.

“Confringo!”

He blasted open the sealed metal door in front of him with an explosive spell, only to be met by laser fire from the Chitauri soldiers guarding behind it.

“Protego!”

He preemptively cast a Shield Charm to deflect the laser fire, then swung his wand again:

“Incendio Maxima!”

A torrent of flames burst forth, incinerating all the Chitauri soldiers in his path.

“Fiendfyre!”

He threw out another Fiendfyre dragon, leaving it behind to continue burning.

In this manner, using his wizard bloodline’s ability to convert and replenish magical energy infinitely, Leo alternated between explosive spells, Shield Charms, Incendio, and Fiendfyre as he went, leaving a trail of fire in his wake.

“Not a single worthy opponent.”

That was Leo’s assessment of the Chitauri.

Truth be told, despite their weapons seeming advanced compared to Earth’s, the Chitauri soldiers weren’t much stronger than humans, ranking at the bottom in terms of physical capabilities within the universe.

As a result, the Chitauri army was often used as cannon fodder by Thanos, just like Rocket had said—they were infamous for their weakness in the cosmos.

Leo even suspected that Thanos had never intended for the Chitauri to return; after all, even in the original story, despite the Bifrost Bridge being damaged and preventing Odin from bringing his army to Earth, the Ancient One was still around.

Perhaps Thanos merely wanted the Chitauri soldiers to act as cannon fodder, testing Earth’s defenses while covertly stealing the Space Stone, without truly expecting the Chitauri to be capable of destroying Earth on their own.

Of course, Leo didn’t know exactly what Thanos was thinking; he was merely speculating.

But this was good for him—it made his mission much easier.

Using magic to clear his way through, Leo quickly fought his way to the center of the mothership, reaching the command hall where he finally encountered the mothership’s commander, the Chitauri elder.

The Chitauri elder, furious, pointed his staff at Leo and shouted:

“Kaba Apa Xiwuma La…”

“Uh, could you speak Mandarin or English, please? Sokovian would work too.”

Hearing the strange, insect-like language of the Chitauri elder, Leo couldn’t help but tilt his head quizzically.
