MWM Chapter 204

This entry is part 205 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

Rewinding time to just before the spatial wormhole was opened, in the skies a hundred kilometers away from New York.

Thor, dressed in his armor and wearing a red cape, held Mjolnir in his right hand as he sped toward New York City.

“My dear brother, could you be a bit more considerate of your frail and powerless sibling? I haven’t regained my godly powers, and at this speed, you’re going to freeze me to death!”

Loki, hanging by Thor’s left hand and dressed in a suit, felt like he was being blown into a rag doll and couldn’t help but shout angrily up at Thor.

Thor reluctantly slowed down and replied, “I told you to read those books, but you wouldn’t listen. Instead, you spent your days conning people in the town, and now you still haven’t regained your powers. And yet, you insisted on coming along this time. I hope it’s truly as you said.”

A week ago, Thor, who had been working diligently at a construction site and part-time as a librarian, finally grasped the meaning of his existence by experiencing human life and absorbing the wisdom from human books. He had regained his powers and reclaimed Mjolnir, restoring all his godly might.

However, his brother Loki hadn’t heeded his advice at all. Loki spent his days idly, engaging in small cons and petty theft around town. If it weren’t for Thor’s protection, he would have been beaten crippled by the local toughs long ago.

Since Loki remained unrepentant, he naturally couldn’t break the seal that Father Odin had placed on him and was still just a mortal.

Originally, with his powers restored, Thor could have returned to Asgard to claim the throne as the next king. However, during his time among humans, he felt that they needed his help more than the happy people of Asgard. He was also worried that if he returned to Asgard, Loki would starve or be beaten to death. After all, Loki never worked and relied entirely on Thor’s hard-earned wages for his living expenses.

So, he petitioned Odin, requesting to stay with Loki until his brother showed remorse, after which they would return to Asgard together for him to ascend to the throne.

Sensing the change in Thor and noting that he still had some time left in his life, Odin agreed.

Just a short while ago, Thor had received a message from Odin saying that Heimdall had foreseen an impending crisis on Earth and instructed him to head to New York immediately to help humanity resist the invasion.

Initially, Thor intended to come alone. Loki, without his powers, would only be a burden and wouldn’t be able to help. However, Loki insisted on coming along, claiming he wanted to witness Thor saving humanity, hoping to find inspiration in the process, amend his ways, and thus restore his powers.

Thor thought it might make some sense and decided to bring him along.

“What’s the rush? There are so many humans; a few dead wouldn’t matter. But you only have one brother. If I freeze to death, how will you explain it to Mother? Or perhaps you’re deliberately trying to freeze me to death to get back at me for the things I did?”

Loki straightened his hair, a sneer forming at the corner of his mouth.

Truth be told, with his cunning, even without his powers, Loki could have thrived quite well in the human world without Thor.

But no, he chose to stay in the town, live off Thor’s hard-earned money, and cause a ton of trouble for Thor to deal with, hoping to delay Thor’s return to Asgard and his assumption of the throne.

And now, he was deliberately slowing Thor down, hoping that by the time they arrived, Thor would be punished by Odin.

“Are you doing this on purpose? You’re a Frost Giant; even if Father sealed your godly powers, you shouldn’t be afraid of the cold!”

Hearing Loki’s words, Thor sensed something was amiss.

Loki replied calmly, “So what? You’re the God of Thunder, but you’re afraid of electricity, aren’t you? Remember when Old Hank stunned you with a taser? I’m a Frost Giant afraid of the cold—what’s wrong with that?”

“That was only because you were flirting with Old Hank’s daughter and got chased around town by him and his gang. If I hadn’t intervened, you’d have been chopped into pieces.”

Thor grumbled.

Loki snorted, “Flirting? Do I need to flirt? A mere wink, and that woman would want to spend the night with me. As the destined future king of Asgard, why would I stoop to the level of a lowly human woman?”

He wasn’t entirely lying; although he often caused trouble to give Thor headaches, that time, he hadn’t been flirting with Old Hank’s daughter.

Old Hank, the town bar owner, had a daughter, young Hank, who was immediately infatuated with Loki’s handsome appearance the first time she saw him. She dumped her boyfriend on the spot and wanted to have a wild night with Loki.

But Loki wasn’t interested in human girls. He rejected her outright and said a lot of disdainful, insulting things.

Angry, young Hank ran to her father and claimed Loki had harassed her. Hot-tempered Old Hank rallied his crew to castrate Loki, leading to the incident.

“Enough of that. Either bear with it, or I’ll drop you here, and you can find your way to New York on your own. We can’t afford to waste any more time.”

Thor felt that continuing this conversation was a waste of time and laid down an ultimatum.

“Fine, speed up then. I guess for the sake of humanity, I’ll have to endure this.”

Seeing Thor’s resolve, Loki knew he couldn’t delay any longer and reluctantly nodded.

Thor immediately accelerated, dragging Loki with him as they flew towards New York City.

Just as they reached the outskirts of New York, a figure in an Iron Man suit suddenly flew in at high speed to intercept them.

It was Tony Stark, who was searching for Gamora and Nebula at Nick Fury’s request.

SHIELD’s satellites had detected two unidentified objects approaching New York at high speed, and Tony had thought they might be Gamora and Nebula, prompting him to rush over in his suit.

“It’s you—the Asgardian, Thor!”

Seeing Thor, Tony instantly recognized him as the Asgardian prince who had previously helped with Leo.

Thor also recognized Tony; Tony’s armor was distinctive, especially with the advertisements on the back.

“Tony Stark, thanks for your help last time, you and Leo. I’ve regained my powers.”

“Congratulations! But it looks like your mischievous brother hasn’t.”

Tony quipped, noticing Loki being carried by Thor, his wit as sharp as ever.

Loki, hearing Tony’s comment, was instantly displeased. He wasn’t one to take things lying down:

“Lowly human, just because you’re wearing some iron suit, you think you can stand equal to a god? Once I regain my powers, I’ll make sure to bleed both you and that Leo dry.”

Thor’s face immediately showed embarrassment upon hearing this. He gave Loki a kick in the backside before looking at Tony with a smile:

“You know, we aren’t actually related by blood!”

“No worries, I don’t mind, because he looks like a kid who lost a lollipop to his big brother.”

Tony retorted sarcastically.
