MWM Chapter 214

This entry is part 215 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

Three months had passed since the Chitauri invasion of Earth.

During these three months, Leo’s life had remained relatively calm. He was either training in magic and ninjutsu in his bedroom wardrobe using the Shadow Clone Technique or going out to complete side quests to earn more time in the small worlds.

Or he was accompanying Wanda in her magic practice, going out shopping, and eating together.

The Shadow Clone Technique couldn’t directly replicate his wizard bloodline, but the clones could carry a portion of his magical power. As long as they had a wand, they could practice magic.

However, without the wizard’s ability to convert magic, once their magical power was depleted, the clone would have to be dispelled, and a new shadow clone would need to be summoned to continue.

Although the duration for practicing magic wasn’t as long as for ninjutsu, it was still much more efficient than him practicing on his own.

As for the issue of wands, during his battles in the wizarding world under the guise of the mysterious man, he would always confiscate the wands of the Aurors he defeated, even though he didn’t kill them. So, he was never short of wands.

With the help of the Shadow Clone Technique, his efficiency in learning and practicing magic greatly increased. He could now manage to cast some simpler spells without a wand.

Neither S.H.I.E.L.D. nor Hydra had disturbed him. According to what he learned from Tony, S.H.I.E.L.D. seemed to have found Captain America early in the Arctic.

Under Captain America’s leadership, Hydra was now being pushed back step by step, and neither side had the energy to interfere in anything else.

Some government people did come to him, however, and despite knowing his strength, they still foolishly tried to control him—an arrogance even greater than Nick Fury’s.

He wasn’t polite in response, though he didn’t kill them. He simply used the Obliviate spell to wipe the memories of all their leadership from head to toe.

“Wenwu, have you found any leads on the people I asked you to investigate?”

In the living room, while Wanda was attending a neighborhood housewives’ tea party, Leo opened his laptop and started a video call with Wenwu from the Ten Rings.

On the other side of the video, Wenwu respectfully replied:

“We have leads on both sides. If you need, we can send people to capture them at any time.”

“No need. For Ulysses Klaue, just spend some money to buy a bit of Vibranium from him. As for Aldrich Killian, just send me his address, and I’ll take care of it myself.”

Leo shook his head.

Ulysses Klaue, an international arms dealer, had once successfully stolen 250 kilograms of Vibranium from Wakanda with the help of Wakanda’s Prince N’Jobu.

He then renamed it sound-absorbing steel and sold it at a high price. Captain America’s shield was made from Vibranium purchased from his family by Howard Stark back then.

Because of the Vibranium theft, Klaue had been wanted by Wakanda and had been hiding and evading capture worldwide.

If Leo wanted to obtain Vibranium, he could either go to Wakanda, but he didn’t know its location, and it was a closed-off country that wouldn’t let him in or sell him Vibranium.

So instead of wasting time with Wakanda, it was better to buy some directly from Ulysses Klaue. After all, he had the money, and just a small sample would allow Wanda to create more for him.

Given his own power, finding Klaue, who was constantly on the run, wouldn’t be easy, but fortunately, he had previously taken control of an ancient organization—the Ten Rings.

So, this task had become quite simple.

And as for Aldrich Killian, whom he had been looking for, he had also entrusted Wenwu to find him, and Wenwu didn’t disappoint.

Aldrich Killian and Maya Hansen, the former a once-fanatic admirer of Tony who became extremely hateful after being snubbed, and the latter had a one-night stand with Tony and became resentful.

These two doctors had collaborated to create the Extremis virus and the Extremis soldiers, which would cause Tony significant trouble a year and a half later.

Leo was quite interested in the Extremis virus. Besides greatly enhancing strength and enabling the body to emit high temperatures, it also had a remarkable healing capability, allowing for limb regeneration.

Although his magic could also provide rapid healing, it was limited to non-fatal wounds, and for severed limbs, they needed to be reattached immediately to heal properly.

If a limb was entirely missing, even healing magic couldn’t restore it to normal.

But the Extremis virus could. With its regenerative capabilities, even if a limb was lost, it could immediately regrow.

So before heading to the dangerous world of immortal cultivation, he planned to acquire the Extremis virus and both doctors, then improve the virus to significantly enhance his survival abilities.

At the same time, he could develop a new drug to restore ordinary disabled people to normalcy, providing additional income for his company.

After closing the video call, he soon received a message from Wenwu with the location of Dr. Killian’s research base, as detected by the Ten Rings.

[A new side quest is available!]

As Leo memorized the new address, his panel suddenly displayed a new side quest.

He opened the panel and navigated to the side quest section.

[Side Quest: Prevent Aldrich Killian and Maya Hansen from creating Melters and destroy Killian’s evil plan to control the United States and start a world war in advance.

Reward: Two months of small world time.]

Looking at the newly appeared side quest, Leo couldn’t help but stroke his chin.

“It seems triggering certain events early can prompt the panel to issue side quests.”

He used to think that as long as a major Marvel event occurred, the panel would generally assign him new quests.

But this time, there was still a year and a half before Killian’s actual plan was to be executed. Yet, his proactive approach to engaging with a future potential event had triggered a corresponding quest.

“This is good. It means I have more control over my fate.”

After some thought, a smile appeared on Leo’s lips.

The panel was his greatest asset since reincarnating in this world, capable of sending him to various small worlds and granting him corresponding talents and identities.

However, it also made him feel somewhat controlled by the quests, even though not completing them wouldn’t pose any direct issues.

But through his exploration and study of the panel, he discovered that with proper manipulation, even the issuance of quests could be influenced.

Firstly, he could use the quest information to know about certain events’ locations and times in advance. For example, in the last main quest, he used the information provided to lie in wait for the right moment.

Additionally, like this time, he could proactively intervene in certain events from the original storyline or those currently unfolding, prompting the panel to issue relevant quests in advance, thus earning extra small world time rewards.

This way, he could often take the initiative into his own hands.

In the future, if needed, he could potentially manipulate some major events to happen ahead of time, possibly forcing the panel to issue new main quests sooner.
