That’s why Leo knew from the start that this mission posed no threat to Wanda—it was just a way for her to get used to a new combat style.

Watching the female soldier charge at them, Leo suggested to Wanda.

However, Wanda didn’t want to kill, and Leo didn’t want to waste the Extremis soldiers who had survived the experimental trials, so he proposed the second combat plan.

“Restrain them!”

Wanda waved her hand, and a metal-glossed steel cable shot out, flying toward the female soldier to tie her up.

The female soldier immediately attempted a tactical dodge, but the steel cable moved as fast as lightning and seemed to have a mind of its own. No matter how she dodged, it stuck to her like a shadow.

Unlike Leo’s standard Binding Charm, which simply sends out a rope to bind the enemy—something that could be dodged or cut if the opponent was fast enough—Wanda’s chaos magic-infused Binding Charm conjured not a regular rope but a steel cable woven from Uru metal threads, virtually indestructible.

Additionally, as it flew out, it was controlled by Wanda’s strong telekinesis, moving like a serpent, effectively tracking and binding its target, and could be tied in various forms according to Wanda’s will.

“My husband prefers this style the most. It looks… so embarrassing!”

Looking at the female soldier she had bound and suspended in mid-air, Wanda couldn’t help but blush.

“You stay put for now!”

Bound tightly, the female soldier found that no matter how much strength she used or how much heat she generated, the steel cable showed no signs of being destroyed. She could only curse loudly while continuing to struggle.

With a flick of his hand, Leo cast a Stupefy spell on the female soldier and continued forward with Wanda.

And this time, after only a few steps, he spotted the person he had come to find—the co-inventor of the Extremis virus, Dr. Aldrich Killian.

Killian had seen through the surveillance that the female soldier was at a disadvantage and realized that the intruders were more formidable than he had imagined. He quickly gathered the other four Extremis soldiers in the laboratory and all the guards to come to their aid.

“Kill them!”

Seeing the female soldier unconscious on the ground, Killian, his body emitting intense flames, led the charge towards Leo and Wanda.

In truth, no one knew that among all those injected with the Extremis virus, he was the strongest. His strength, speed, and the temperature of his flames far surpassed those of any later subjects.

“Sweetheart, tie them all up.”

Seeing the four flaming soldiers and a barrage of bullets coming at them, Leo showed no fear. He didn’t even draw his wand to prepare for battle; he simply raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

Standing beside him, Wanda blocked the bullets with a Shield Charm with her left hand and cast a Binding Charm with her right. Dozens of meters of Uru metal steel cable flew out like a snake, instantly binding Killian and all his men together.

“Roar!”

Bound tightly, Killian found that even his temperature, far surpassing that of a normal Extremis soldier, couldn’t melt the steel cable. He opened his mouth wide, and a massive pillar of fire erupted towards Leo and Wanda.

The fire spewing from Killian’s mouth was like molten lava, extremely hot, and soon cracks appeared on the Shield Charm that was blocking bullets.

Wanda’s chaos magic greatly amplified Transfiguration-related spells, but for other spells like the Shield Charm, it wasn’t as effective.

So, Wanda’s Shield Charm wasn’t as strong as Leo’s.

However, Leo had already devised a countermeasure for such situations—using Transfiguration for defense.

Just as the Shield Charm was about to break, Wanda clapped her hands together, unleashing her chaos magic. A massive shield entirely made of Uru metal appeared in front of them, replacing the magical energy barrier and completely blocking the fiery attack.

Controlling the shield, they pushed forward, forcing Killian’s fire pillar back.

And Wanda used a Levitation Charm to manipulate the shield, wielding five thousand tons of force, pushing the bound Killian and his men to the end of the corridor, slamming them repeatedly like a battering ram.

She kept smashing them back and forth until they were beaten senseless. Once they were physically knocked out, she retracted the blood-stained shield that could block the entire passage.

When magical defense failed, physical defense worked just as well, and it could also provide a counterattack.
