- MWM Chapter 224
“Lightning Release: False Darkness!”
Upon hearing the Xuanyin Sect elder’s words, Leo knew further conversation was pointless. Without hesitation, he cast a powerful lightning spear toward his opponent.
Becoming a disciple of the Xuanyin Sect? In truth, they had only recognized his talent and wanted to use him as a furnace to refine energy. There was no way he would agree to that.
He might have been in this world for only a month and didn’t want to stir up too much trouble, but that didn’t mean he was afraid of them.
Perhaps he couldn’t handle a Nascent Soul or Primordial Spirit realm expert, but against a Core Formation cultivator, even one at the peak of that stage, he was confident he could put up a fight—and if worse came to worst, he could always escape.
As the lightning spear hurtled toward them, the Xuanyin Sect elder waved his hand. The eight black-armored, masked bearers quickly formed a line, using their bodies to block the attack.
“Hmm, you’ve got some skill to have defeated my disciple. Which sect do you belong to?”
The elder’s eyes revealed a hint of surprise as he saw cracks forming in the armor of his eight demon soldiers after they were struck by the lightning spear.
It wasn’t unheard of for a Foundation Establishment cultivator to use lightning techniques, but for the power to rival that of a typical Core Formation cultivator’s spell—that was rare. It seemed this person might really be a disciple of one of the major righteous sects, just as his disciple had mentioned.
“Dead men don’t need to know so much.”
Leo snorted coldly, immediately summoning twenty shadow clones.
“Arrogant! Capture him for me!”
The Xuanyin Sect elder rose from his palanquin, and with a pinch of his fingers, the eight demon soldiers extended their sharp claws and darted toward Leo and his clones at an astonishing speed.
“They’re fast.”
Seeing the speed of the demon soldiers, Leo knew they wouldn’t be easy to deal with. He quickly had his clones pair up to unleash the combined technique, *Blazing Wind Wave*.
Meanwhile, taking advantage of the raging flames and the confusion caused by his clones, Leo used Apparition to move behind the palanquin, casting a Disillusionment Charm on himself.
“Impressive fire technique, but useless. These demon soldiers have long been refined to be immune to fire and water. Your mundane flames won’t burn them, even if you try for three days and nights.”
The Xuanyin Sect elder simply activated the defensive barriers on the palanquin with a wave of his hand, unconcerned that his demon soldiers, refined over many years, would be harmed.
If his opponent had continued using the initial lightning spell on such a grand scale, it might have caused some damage. But using fire? At most, it would only slow the soldiers down.
“The fire really isn’t working!”
Seeing his clones’ flames only slow the demon soldiers without stopping them, Leo grew more serious. He had underestimated the strength of this Core Formation elder.
In hindsight, it made sense. The fire he generated with his jutsu was powerful, but in this world, it was considered mundane fire. In an immortal cultivation world, only flames like Samadhi True Fire or Solar True Fire were considered truly destructive.
If he had used the Fiendfyre Curse, the result might have been better. Fiendfyre was a special flame with cursed properties, capable of inflicting greater damage.
“If the heat won’t destroy them, I’ll just blow them up!”
Knowing the Xuanyin elder likely had more tricks up his sleeve, Leo decided to play it safe and go all out.
He pulled out an explosive tag and tossed it above the palanquin.
“Explosive Tag Multiplication Jutsu!”
As soon as he activated the jutsu, he Apparated to an even farther location.
*Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!*
The sound of explosions echoed from the distance, growing louder and more frequent, like thunder.
The demon soldiers might have been immune to fire, but surely they couldn’t withstand an explosion. With the amount of chakra he was using, he could easily blast out a lake-sized crater.
“What’s going on? What kind of technique or treasure is this?”
The Xuanyin Sect elder had just seen Leo’s clones being destroyed, and the large-scale fire attack finally stopping, when he heard an explosion overhead.
At first, he wasn’t concerned, thinking it was just a common explosive treasure like a Thunder Pearl. His palanquin’s defenses easily withstood the attack, so he didn’t think much of it.
But then things started to get strange.
The explosion didn’t stop. Instead, it kept going, growing in intensity at an alarming rate. Soon, his palanquin began to shake, and it was clear it wouldn’t hold much longer.
Helpless, the elder quickly recalled his eight demon soldiers and had them carry the palanquin away from the center of the explosion as fast as possible.
In just a short time, the demon soldiers, which had been immune to fire and water, were already missing limbs from the repeated blasts. It was a testament to the immense power of whatever spell or treasure had caused the explosions.
“I forgot they can fly!”
Watching the palanquin escape the expanding blast radius, Leo immediately stopped channeling chakra into the explosive tags.
This world was different from the one in *Naruto*. In *Naruto*, few shinobi could survive the Explosive Tag Multiplication Jutsu unless they had spatial techniques or exceptionally strong defensive jutsu.
But in the world of immortals, cultivators had magical treasures they could use to shield themselves and fly away from danger.
Still, the explosion had some effect. The demon soldiers had been damaged, and even the palanquin’s protective barrier was showing cracks.
“You won’t escape that easily.”
Leo pulled out his old wand and waved it, casting the same weather spell Dumbledore had once used against him.
Using ninja techniques consumed a lot of chakra, so he preferred to use magic whenever possible. In the half-year he had spent in the primary world, he had diligently trained in magic using the Shadow Clone Jutsu.
When all the time his clones spent researching magic was combined, it totaled at least ten years.
In terms of magical power, he might not be on par with Dumbledore or Grindelwald, but he was now roughly on the same level as someone like Newt Scamander.
Because of this, his weather spell was quite formidable.
*Rumble!*
A massive storm cloud enveloped the flying palanquin, and bolts of lightning rained down relentlessly, striking it with precision as Leo waved his wand, causing the palanquin to sway and tilt violently.
“Who is this guy? How can a mere Foundation Establishment cultivator cast such powerful spells?”
The Xuanyin Sect elder was utterly shocked. These kinds of spells and their immense power weren’t something even Core Formation cultivators commonly used.
Most people relied on magical treasures for combat—who would waste time mastering spells less powerful than treasures?
