MWM Chapter 264

This entry is part 265 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

Upon hearing Leo’s seemingly casual yet commanding words, Skye froze in place.

To be honest, as an orphan who had been passed around from one foster home to another, she outwardly appeared tough, but deep down, what she lacked most was a sense of security.

At that moment, for the first time in a long while, she suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of safety.

“Maybe… this isn’t such a bad choice after all,” Skye thought to herself.

Earlier, her decision to join Leo was mostly out of desperation, with the added promise that he would help her find her parents.

But now, she was starting to feel some genuine trust in Leo.

“Who are you? Raise your hands and get on the ground!”

As the interrogation room door opened, triggering the alarm, and an unfamiliar man stepped out, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents stationed outside immediately drew their weapons and aimed them at Leo.

Leo had always worn a mask when appearing as the Dark Sorcerer, so aside from a few people, most did not know what he looked like. The agents at this S.H.I.E.L.D. base were no exception—they had no idea who Leo really was.

“I suggest you put down your weapons and call Coulson. I have business with him,” Leo said with a smile.

However, the agents weren’t having any of it and issued another warning:

“Now! Hands up! Get on the ground, or we will open fire!”

“Alright, I guess this will be quicker,” Leo sighed.

In an instant, a magnificent pair of wings made entirely of flying swords appeared behind him.

The agents, thinking he was about to attack, immediately opened fire.

Leo stood still, not even flinching, as his sword wings intercepted every bullet, effortlessly deflecting them.

With a flash of sword light, the gunfire abruptly ceased.

The agents looked down in shock, realizing that their rifles and handguns had all been sliced into several pieces, now lying on the floor.

“Please don’t attack me again. I’m sure none of you want to end up like your weapons,” Leo said with a playful smile, retracting his sword wings.

The agents broke into a cold sweat.

Since acquiring his sword wings, Leo rarely bothered using magic or ninjutsu in regular combat. Even though he could now cast spells without a wand and without speaking, he still had to mentally recite the incantations, which took a little time, and ninjutsu required hand signs.

But his sword wings, as his magical artifact, could be summoned instantly with just a thought. They were incredibly fast, extraordinarily sharp, and more than sufficient for most battles.

“Hold on! Everyone, stand down! Leo, what brings you here?”

At that moment, Coulson, who had been watching the commotion through the surveillance cameras, finally arrived, waving the agents away.

Leo was a terrifying figure who had single-handedly wiped out an alien fleet. Whatever his reason for being here, getting into a fight with him was absolutely out of the question. This was something Nick Fury had emphasized multiple times in their meetings.

If S.H.I.E.L.D. were ever to take action against someone as powerful as Leo, it would only happen after extensive planning and preparation, with multiple strategies in place, and only if they had a reasonable chance of success.

“Oh, I’m just here to pick up my new employee,” Leo said with a smile, stepping aside to reveal a still-dazed Skye behind him.

Coulson’s eye twitched.

Leo had been the one to call in the tip that led to Skye being captured, and now he was claiming her as an employee? What was going on here?

“Is there a problem?” Leo asked with a friendly smile.

Coulson, feeling resigned, responded, “Since she’s your employee, of course there’s no problem, Mr. Leo.”

Did he have a choice? Could he even refuse?

Coulson actually admired Skye, recognizing her as a genius hacker, and had hoped to recruit her into S.H.I.E.L.D. But now that Leo had stepped in personally, there was no way he could compete.

After all, Leo’s importance far outweighed that of a talented hacker.

“Oh, by the way, I know your S.H.I.E.L.D. is holding an 084 item called the Obelisk. Anyone who touches it gets instantly petrified and dies. Tell Director Fury to send it over to me—I have a use for it.”

Leo nodded casually as he made this request.

Coulson’s face immediately changed.

He knew there was no way Nick Fury would agree to that.

Allowing Leo to take Skye was one thing. It was a reasonable concession given Leo’s power, and Skye was just a hacker, not a critical asset.

But the Obelisk? That was a different story. It was a dangerous item, sealed away by S.H.I.E.L.D. because of its potential to threaten global security.

If they gave in to Leo now, what would happen if he asked for S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Helicarrier next? Would they have to give him that too?

As an organization dedicated to maintaining world security, especially now that Hydra had been purged from its ranks, S.H.I.E.L.D. had certain principles it couldn’t compromise.

And Leo’s request was nearing that boundary.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Leo, but you don’t have the authority to—” Coulson began, intending to firmly refuse.

But before he could finish, Leo handed him a stack of printed A4 papers from his pocket.

“Here’s some information on Hydra—its origins, key members, locations of several bases, and other relevant details,” Leo said calmly.

In recent times, Leo had been keeping an eye on Hydra, knowing that if Hydra ever gained the upper hand against S.H.I.E.L.D., they would certainly cause trouble for him.

Even though Leo wasn’t particularly concerned about Hydra’s threat to his own safety, the constant harassment from Hydra agents would be a huge nuisance.

So after taking over the Ten Rings organization, he had compiled everything he remembered about Hydra and instructed Wenwu to have his people secretly investigate.

The intelligence now in Coulson’s hands was the result of that investigation—every detail the Ten Rings had gathered on Hydra.

In the past, Leo had been wary that once S.H.I.E.L.D. dealt with Hydra, they might turn their attention to him. But with his current strength, even if Nick Fury summoned Captain Marvel, Leo wasn’t without the means to hold his own in a fight.

As a result, Hydra’s existence was no longer a pressing concern for him.

“Oh, and when you capture that Hydra leader, Whitehall, be sure to let me know. I have some business with him,” Leo said, patting Coulson on the shoulder before apparating away with Skye.

After Leo’s departure, Coulson stared at the papers in his hands, stunned. It took him a moment to snap out of it before quickly dialing Nick Fury’s number.

“Director Fury, I have some urgent intelligence to report!”
